He told his mother and he told Juri that he was putting the engagement on hold because he had a lot to think about. Neither of them listened and went ahead with all their plans, then got furious, hurt, etc. when he refused to get engaged. The new wife doesn't like Chawon either but that's Mama's Boy's fault. He still refers to Chawon as his WIFE! OMG didn't go over well with the new one. Still, I like her and think she is the DIL that would bode well in that family. She gives better than she gets from her MIL. Really having fun with this one.nondisclosed_email@example.com (nsheldon)Tue, 30 Jul 2013 18:54:01 +0000 Re:https://bcjkdramasincalifornia.runboard.com/p2062899,from=rss#post2062899https://bcjkdramasincalifornia.runboard.com/p2062899,from=rss#post2062899This is a really enjoyable drama to watch. Also enjoying all the 'side stories/couples'. The old singer and young daughter of the noodle house turn out to be a pretty good fit. She adores him and he wants to be adored. He felt guilty because she is so much younger but he can't stop himself from being attracted to her. Cute couple. I also thought it ironic that Cheolgyu unwittingly gave Seyoon a clearer picture of Chawon. Cheolgyu is not really capable of conniving like his mother and sister so he is all truth. He knows how good Chawon is and has never stopped loving her. But they can't be together because... well, he's Mama's Boy. Even if he did get her back, his mother would control him and make him treat Chawon poorly again. Cheolgyu's current wife I think does care for him. I think she took a shine to him the first time they met. She wants the man that loves Chawon to love her. Also, last night when she started screaming at mad MIL I knew for sure that she belonged in that family. MIL is so hateful and controlling that no sweet woman would stand a chance there. The new bride is the best fit! I wonder how MIL would treat Seyoon if he were her son in law? Of course they'd live with Seyoon's family but mad MIL would have to get involved somehow because that's her life... controlling her children. Still, my favorite character is Cheolgyu. Love also that the new daughter in law of the noodle house was accepted as a daughter and that her new MIL/Mother cares so much for her. Wow, Choonhee and Hyodong are a great couple too!nondisclosed_email@example.com (nsheldon)Mon, 22 Jul 2013 10:27:01 +0000 Re:https://bcjkdramasincalifornia.runboard.com/p2062898,from=rss#post2062898https://bcjkdramasincalifornia.runboard.com/p2062898,from=rss#post2062898nchristi, I have to take this opportunity to tell you that I sent you a PM but I don't think it went safely. I love the craziness of the scenes between Mad MIL and her son. It almost makes me feel sorry for him. However he is such a clueless person and totally impossible when it comes to forgetting his first wife. He can't think of losing her ever. I agree that his present wife is a strange woman. I can't quite make up my ind if she likes him really or if she is just using him to get away from her own mother. There will by dirty work at the crossroads with Chaewon being ill used once more by her former sister in law. what a dreadful person that girl is. I could not quite understand why Seyoon agreed to be engaged to her. How will he manage to free himself from this situation. I wonder. The plot thickens ! nondisclosed_email@example.com (brad6)Sun, 21 Jul 2013 14:18:29 +0000 Re: K-Drama:백년의 유산 (Hundred Year Inheritance)https://bcjkdramasincalifornia.runboard.com/p2062885,from=rss#post2062885https://bcjkdramasincalifornia.runboard.com/p2062885,from=rss#post2062885Things are heating up on this show—if that's possible. LOL! I can't get over poor Cholkyo still loving Chaewon so much and still planning on reconciling with her. I feel sorry for the guy. He and his mother are such a comedy of errors. He has never registered his marriage to the new wife on purpose, so that he can go back to Chaewon. But Mom comes along and does him a big favor and goes and files it herself. Even the way they are dressing Chulkyo is so funny. This is a great role for this actor. I love watching him and his mother going through all their antics. Too funny. On the other side of this coin, there are some mega-nasty characters in this drama, including Cholkyo's new wife. How ironic that it is Cholkyo himself who unknowingly reveals to Seyoon that Chaewon wouldn't accept the $5M from her MIL, that she's not interested in money. Seyoon also overhears the evil Juri threatening and getting a little physical with Chaewon in the company kitchen. So, now he knows he was completely wrong about Chaewon and wants to get her back. But Juri has other plans to sabotage Chaewon's big food demo with Seyoon. Juri also anonymously sends a letter charging Chaewon with bribery. The episode ends with Seyoon calling Juri into his office, holding up her letter, and asking her about it. Gulp! Hyodong & Choohee get married. The big surprise (and drama first?) is that Choohee arranges a double ceremony including the grandparents. Since Granny never had a nice wedding, and since it is their 60th anniversary, Choohee has Granny fully adorned in a white wedding gown, veil, professional make-up—the whole nine yards. Gramps is not let in on the secret, though. (He probably would have ruined the whole thing if he knew beforehand.) Granny is walked down the aisle by Hyodong, who then gives her hand to Gramps at the platform. Kang Jin (the singer) is the wedding MC and gives some touching comments on the grandparents. This, plus seeing how beautiful his "bride" looks, softens up Gramps and instead of being grumpy, he looks rather touched. This was a very nice touch to yet another wedding. The worst part was Hyodong's recurring irritable bowel problems. As they're about to leave for the airport/honeymoon, Hyodong gets repeated attacks and has to stop at restrooms—6 all together. Of course, they miss their flight and return home for their first night. The two Cinderella SILs (ugly step-sisters) criticize everything, as usual and try to ruin all they can. The next morning Choohee comes out in hanbok. They mock her for that, too. But Choohee tells them once again that she is their elder and the ranking DIL so they'd better change their ways if they don't want their lives to be miserable. What's even better is that Choohee is the apple of Granny's eye. She loves everything about her, taking great delight in her new daughter, much to the chagrin of the two clucking hens. The relationship between Kang Jin (singer) and Kiok seems to be warming up. Ever since she realized that he is the famous tenor who saved her at a recital when she was 19 or so, she looks at him differently. He was her hero since that recital, the man she loved most. She sees him as having gotten old and it saddens her, but she seems to deeply care for him, too. Of course, his spirts are greatly benefiting from her constant approval and her belief and support of him as a man. This is a wonderful drama that I'm enjoying more and more each week. Onward to tonight! nondisclosed_email@example.com (nchristi)Sun, 21 Jul 2013 13:50:40 +0000 Re: K-Drama:백년의 유산 (Hundred Year Inheritance)https://bcjkdramasincalifornia.runboard.com/p2062822,from=rss#post2062822https://bcjkdramasincalifornia.runboard.com/p2062822,from=rss#post2062822I was watching the MBCD weekly entertainment show earlier this week (no e-subs), and they featured the actress playing the outrageous MIL, Ms. Bhang. It was really interesting even though I couldn't understand the conversation. This actress lives in a beautiful, mountainous area overlooking the ocean. I was struck by how down to earth she is in private life, how full of life and laughter, and so forth. The interview was held on an outside deck away from the house, one in which the sunrises and sunsets, or just the ocean view, trees and breezes make a wonderful place to have tea or lunch with friends, or by oneself. She also has a coffee shop on the street level. The sign said "Coffee & Gossip," or something like that. Warmly trendy inside, with large, framed posters of the actress (Park Won-Suk) tastefully hung here and there. Quite an inviting looking café. Anyway, it seems she is quite popular in Korea, especially as this character. Last night I found myself laughing at the exchanges with her son, Mama's Boy. They are both funny, but she is so over the top in a stylized way that I have to laugh at the scenes where she finds herself powerless and frustrated. It was also funny watching her expressions when the other MIL presents a pre-nuptial agreement for them to sign, which they rebel against. But when Mama's Boy leaves the room, the other old fox entices his mother to sign by making a secret agreement to sell Mean Mom's business products on the home shopping network, which she has influence over. Mean Mom can't say "no" to big profits! It was also a shock that Mrs. In-Law brings up the fact that Mama's Boy has never consummated the marriage with her daughter, nor have they filed a marriage document with the authorities, so this is an appropriate time for a pre-nup agreement to be made. What is funny is that besides financial terms, Mama's Boy will be forced legally to do his husbandly "duty" at least once a week. LOL! What a mess. I don't know what's going to happen with this marriage. The new bride really is a nut case. When I saw her eating breakfast holding her dog in one arm and chopsticks in the other, I couldn't believe it. (I wonder how Doggy is going to react to Mama's Boy getting it on with his master! That could be a very crowded bed...) As for Seyoon and Chaewon, I can't believe that he so easily branded her as a person seeking and accepting bribes. It really doesn't fit his character at all. He's such a sensible, serious type executive, I find it hard to believe that he wouldn't have talked out the bribery misunderstandings, etc., directly with her instead of believing others. But that would have eliminated the long working out and reconciliation process the audience will enjoy seeing. Glad to see Granny giving her approval to Hyodong & Choonhee's marriage. Too bad Granny invited herself along, making herself Choonhee's "mother" and taking over the wedding plans: dress, apartment, dishes, etc. What a relief that by the time Choohee blew her stack over it and walked out of the gown shop, Granny realizes her error and tells Hyodong she shouldn't have come along and will butt out of Choonhee's wedding plans. Looks like we have a new character entering the fray. Dohee's son Seul-Hong shows up unexpectedly from the States... guess he finished his education (or quit). The grandparents are crazy about him, seeing him as the heir to the family noodles. This bothers Kangsook, the SIL who has a young son and wants him to be the heir and most favored by the grandparents. Kangsook tells her son to thwart all of Seul-Hong's actions. The kid is savvy and tells his mother not to worry, he will ruin everything for Seul-Hong. On to tonight... nondisclosed_email@example.com (nchristi)Sun, 14 Jul 2013 12:09:10 +0000 Re:https://bcjkdramasincalifornia.runboard.com/p2062820,from=rss#post2062820https://bcjkdramasincalifornia.runboard.com/p2062820,from=rss#post2062820I figured out early that she stole her son. Chawon was too soft and obedient and MIL could get away with beating her down physically and emotionally. New bride won't put up with MIL and she'll give as good as she gets. Seyeong's mother promised not to stop him from choosing the woman he wants but there she is, getting involved and getting violent with Chawon! I wish Seyeong would pack up and move out. However, I like Chawon with Seyong. They seem pretty compatible. But Juri is her mother's daughter so we know we're in for some big trouble from her! Chawon's dad and Choonhee are so cute. He's so backwards but he's also so honest and true. So cute when he went to the train station and was so happy she didn't leave that he picked her up and twirled her around. The door-mat-main-girl character is a done freakin' enuf already! The Joo ri character is also typical, second string that won't give up. Same actress played same role in I'll Give You Everything. This actress reminds me of the one that play Jinju in Oh Jayrong. Same 1-plane face with flawless skin and with only one "blank" expression. Eugene is pretty as always. Main male actors are quite handsome. All the family members and their scheming set against the love couples make this fun to watch. Couldn't wait for weekly showings so have been watching 1/4 and 4/4 of 4-segment episodes, currently at 37 of the 45 posted episodes. FINALLY, stuff starts happening. It's funny, but Screech Mom and Mama's Boy are my favorites, too. It's kind of funny because I usually dislike both these "over the top" type characters, but maybe it is because they are so over the top that they are more amusing than upsetting. Why is Chaewon pretending to still be married—and happily at that? I missed that somewhere along the line. Does she just not want the hero to feel it necessary to keep saving or protecting her? In last night's episode, she certainly seemed very glad to see him. I really need to go look at the characters' names for this one! Then there is Hyo-dong and his crummy sister-in-law, Kang-suk. I can't stand how conniving and nasty she is all the time, especially this new development of blackmailing Hyo-Dong and his café sweetheart, Choo-hee. The scenes of Oppa Rooftop and "Mom's" family were too funny. Especially that he was incensed at them all thinking he would be interested in someone as old as their mother! What I'm finding odd is how the writers seem to be pairing Oppa Rooftop with Uhm Ki-Ok. She looks young enough to be his granddaughter! The actress is 33, however. nondisclosed_email@example.com (nchristi)Sun, 09 Jun 2013 11:34:07 +0000 Re:https://bcjkdramasincalifornia.runboard.com/p2062443,from=rss#post2062443https://bcjkdramasincalifornia.runboard.com/p2062443,from=rss#post2062443Mama Boy just can't seem to move on. He always loved Chawon but he is such a mama's boy that he allowed his mother to ruin things for him. He also loves his mother and allowed her to manipulate his life and divorce. Maybe now he sees mommy dearest for what she is. But it's too late for him and Chawon. Mama Boy isn't going down w/o a fight so he's now kidnapped Chawon. Previews show her getting hurt while being w/him. Mama Girl is another one! She knows Seyeon wants to go slowly with any possible relationship between them but she figures she's waited 3 years so he should hurry up and get off the fence. She is just too pushy and she has an ally in his mother. So she's gonna really try to force him to go to her and I think that will just make him want to put more space between them. Then she had a sad time when her adult son was killed. ?car accident? Not sure. Anyway she doted on him and was really put out of acting for some time. Eventually she got better and since then she has played very powerful roles and quite often very mean and nasty characters. First of all in regards to this show all of you that have survived more than the first episode I must truly commend you. I tried to give this show a shot because of Eugene but to be honest I couldn't stomach watching more than the first 15 mins. While the description seemed nice it just had way to much Melodrama in it. Even more than I can handle. I have seen a few others in my past and have always found them amusing or even laughed out at certain absurdities in those shows. I believe that so far only one of those shows has quite moved me to semi-tears but this show lays the melo down to thick. For instance in just the first episode itself the Psycho MIL can't seem to stand that her son has a slightly better relationship with his wife (I think that he defended her or something compared to his own mom if I am not mistaken) So to get even the mom volunteers to wash the shirt that her son wore to the party (claiming that she should wash her son clothes and what not I think she also mentioned that why should another woman touch her sons clothes) and then the moment she gets her grubby little paws on his shirt she rushes of to her room slaps on some lipstick and then leave a lip mark on the shirt. Clearly hoping that Eugene would see that and cause some sort of commotion ie think that her husband is having an affair or atleast plant some doubt in her thus causing friction in the family and the only woman in her sons lifr and one that he could depend on would be the MIL Like I said I don't know what happened next as I just couldn't bear to see what kind of torture was next for the main character. Sure you can figure out why a person does said things but that doesn't make it any easier to watch. I am sure that people are watching this show because they enjoy it so for them congratulations you are certainly made up of stronger stuff than me perhaps I will just watch the last eps as certainly everything will all be nice and peachy by then. Someone stated that Eugene even ends up in a mental hospital. Well I think that the wrong person was sent out there clearly the MIL should have been the one sent there; Sorry if I may have offended anyone with my commentsnondisclosed_email@example.com (Spam King)Wed, 15 May 2013 22:05:49 +0000 Re: K-Drama:백년의 유산 (Hundred Year Inheritance)https://bcjkdramasincalifornia.runboard.com/p2062162,from=rss#post2062162https://bcjkdramasincalifornia.runboard.com/p2062162,from=rss#post2062162I'm keeping up with this one, though it is a little difficult at times! Yikes, Screech Mom is the ultimate Professional Evil MIL, isn't she? Even though some of this is so cliché, still there is a good cast and several characters remain interesting as they unfold. Chaewon's (Eugene) husband is a hard one to take. He seems to be rounding off a few of his edges, still, he is rather impossible. I think his main problem (besides being raised by Screech Mom), is that the poor guy is too many cards short of a full deck. I can't seen him ever being a match with Chaewon. It doesn't help that Sejoon (Lee Jung Jin) has everything that Chul-Kyu lacks, and more. It will be funny if Chaewon can completely turn the tables on Screech Mom. Bullies of her ilk can dish it out but rarely can take it. If Chaewon treats her the way she has treated her DIL, I wouldn't be surprised if Screech Mom cracks and ends up in a mental institution. nondisclosed_email@example.com (nchristi)Wed, 15 May 2013 10:15:10 +0000 Re:https://bcjkdramasincalifornia.runboard.com/p2062160,from=rss#post2062160https://bcjkdramasincalifornia.runboard.com/p2062160,from=rss#post2062160Yes, that's the same evil mother in law. It's the same mother in law from hell though. lol I really like 100 Year Inheritance. nondisclosed_email@example.com (nsheldon)Wed, 15 May 2013 07:32:33 +0000 Re: K-Drama:백년의 유산 (Hundred Year Inheritance)https://bcjkdramasincalifornia.runboard.com/p2062054,from=rss#post2062054https://bcjkdramasincalifornia.runboard.com/p2062054,from=rss#post2062054I am not watching this drama - I just stopped in and read Nchristi's reference to screech mom For the life of me , I knew that sounded familiar , but I could not remember who that was . I looked up the drama on line and found where I could watch some of it and started ep 1 OMG - as soon as I saw her , I recognized her from My Sweetheart . My Darling - which was my first daily on the board . I am sure that woman is a great actress , but I doubt I will ever be able to sit through a long drama with her in it again . Hope you all enjoy !nondisclosed_email@example.com (addie04)Mon, 06 May 2013 17:06:39 +0000 Re:https://bcjkdramasincalifornia.runboard.com/p2061952,from=rss#post2061952https://bcjkdramasincalifornia.runboard.com/p2061952,from=rss#post2061952She's still a piece of work. That's all I'm saying.nondisclosed_email@example.com (smoochie1)Mon, 22 Apr 2013 19:38:32 +0000 Re: K-Drama:백년의 유산 (Hundred Year Inheritance)https://bcjkdramasincalifornia.runboard.com/p2061947,from=rss#post2061947https://bcjkdramasincalifornia.runboard.com/p2061947,from=rss#post2061947I watched an episode yesterday but not sure what episode it was. It was really good and the cast .. wow, lots of familiar faces. I'll have to remind myself to start watching. Oh, the episode I saw the girl escaped from the mental hospital and the guy takes her to a hospital. She seems to have lost her memory. The woman who had this girl (Eugene) put in the mental hospital is the cream of the crop when it comes to evil mother in laws. The worse MIL I ever saw on any Kdrama was this woman in Winter Bird. OMG, she was a piece of work. nondisclosed_email@example.com (nsheldon)Mon, 22 Apr 2013 12:34:56 +0000 Re:https://bcjkdramasincalifornia.runboard.com/p2061929,from=rss#post2061929https://bcjkdramasincalifornia.runboard.com/p2061929,from=rss#post2061929I'm past you in episodes and it's worth the watch. Good cast. Good storyline with a promise of more to come. Hopefully it delivers.nondisclosed_email@example.com (smoochie1)Sun, 21 Apr 2013 07:07:32 +0000 Re: K-Drama:백년의 유산 (Hundred Year Inheritance)https://bcjkdramasincalifornia.runboard.com/p2061926,from=rss#post2061926https://bcjkdramasincalifornia.runboard.com/p2061926,from=rss#post2061926Yikes! This looks like it's going to be a very tough drama! The cast is good. For those members who've been here a long time, "Screech Mom" is back. Park Won Suk outdoes herself in playing the worst MIL of her long career of nasty MILs. I've never seen such a violent, hateful family as the one Chaewon (Eugene) has been enduring for the past three years. MIL got her millions by being a loan shark in her earlier days—guess that explains how violence comes so easily to both mother and son (Chaewon's husband). Thank goodness Chaewon has decided it's time for divorce, but that won't look good for the loser son/husband, so MIL has Chaewon committed to a mental hospital. Not a pleasant first episode, but the struggle for Chaewon to find her way will probably be interesting. And who better than Lee Se-Yoon (Lee Jung-Jin) to be the one who comes to her rescue. nondisclosed_email@example.com (nchristi)Sat, 20 Apr 2013 23:57:45 +0000 Re: K-Drama:백년의 유산 (Hundred Year Inheritance)https://bcjkdramasincalifornia.runboard.com/p2061865,from=rss#post2061865https://bcjkdramasincalifornia.runboard.com/p2061865,from=rss#post2061865The veteran cast looks excellent with many familiar favorites. I'm looking forward to seeing Eugene, where she is reunited with Jeon In Hwa (Bread, Love and Dreams). Also looking forward to the always great, Kim Myeong Su (Hwang Hoe in Gwanggaeto, first Prince in Moon Embracing the Sun) and most importantly, Jung Bo Suk who as far as I am concerned delivered one of the most exceptional performances of 2012 as Overlord U in the glorious series, Soldier/God of War - certainly one of the best technical performers in all of K-Drama in my view. Interesting... Yu Ah Jeong (Jumi from My Bittersweet Life, Women of Our Home) is in this one. Looking forward to seeing her performance as she did quite well in the KBS daily two years ago.nondisclosed_email@example.com (SuperRookie)Tue, 16 Apr 2013 12:07:08 +0000
