Re: K-Drama: 사랑을 믿어요 (My Love, My Family)

How did a gallery turn into one of Seoul's most important Museums? This is an unusual major museum where there are no visible attendants, guards or more importantly visitors.

nsheldon and brad6.. I think, Hyejin was very foolish not tell the truth to her husband. However, whatever her feelings are she certainly did not instigate
the relationship with Sungwu. He has pursued her relentlessly from the very beginning without any qualms that she is married with a very young daughter. His wife was right when she called him a "jerk!"

By the way the actress playing the wife if more attractive than Hyejin. Why do Korean writers always include an evil woman as if all problems are caused by women and not by the men?

Re: K-Drama: 사랑을 믿어요 (My Love, My Family)

Here you go, SuperRookie.

Episode 28 (Sun)

Hyejin goes to Sungwu at the bar. Why hasn‛t he gone to Hawaii? He tells her his wife will be there and they have been finished for three years. She wants to know what happened to his marriage. Sungwu tells her it was a business deal between their fathers, to ensure the other family wouldn‛t cheat them in business. Besides that, they were too different. She was interested mostly in shopping and dancing at clubs, with zero interest in art—his love. While she wanted to dance and have fun, he liked to talk with people. They were "over" in 6 months. He longingly talks of his desire to live with a wife he loves, to have children, to do the things that families do together. He tells her that he longs for just one day of living with someone he loves, something he has never experienced. Hyejin puts her hand on his forearm to stop him from drinking more. He takes her hand, then moves to kiss her... she turns away. Sungwu asks her to just "let me be."

On the way home in a taxi, Hyejin is wringing her hands and feeling very conflicted and unsettled. Back at the bar Sungu continues drinking.

Donghun has been waiting outside in the swing for hours. Where have you been? Why have you not answered your phone? She‛s sorry... she had the ringer off. Donghun is disgusted, goes into the house leaving her standing outside.

At Yeonghui & Ki-chang‛s, the oldest son makes ramen for the boys‛ breakfast while the parents are still sleeping (Yeonghui sleeping off her drunk, Ki-chang sleeping on chairs in his den) Since it is Sunday, the housekeeper won‛t be coming today, so the boys are on their own.

Ki-chang‛s mother calls (the traditional one) and wants to talk with her DIL. Word has reached them that Ki-chang‛s academy is no longer in business (now a Chinese restaurant)... has he gone bankrupt? This is the first Yeonghui has heard of Ki-chang‛s situation. She wants to know what he‛s going to do now. He says he is opening a new language academy. She wants to know how he‛s going to finance it. (Apparently her writing money belongs to only her, not the family.)

Granny, MIL, and Yunhui have made a ton of kimchi dumplings and are sending them to the extended family. They send Yunhui to deliver a box to Ujin‛s house. She‛s uncomfortable but has to say ‛yes‛ to the task. By the time she arrives at Ujin's gate, she can't wait to go in!

When Yunhui arrives, Ujin comes down stairs shirtless after washing up... Yunhui can‛t look at him. Dad insists that Yunhui stay to eat lunch with them. In a mini-break from arguing, Hwyeong starts criticizing the way Yunhui dresses... she looks like a teacher instead of wearing young, spring-like, styles. Dad and Ujin defend Yunhui, then Dad and Hwayeong get into a loud, non-stop argument about stupid stuff (mute button time). Ujin signals to Yunhui to just eat and ignore them. Life as usual in his home...

While Hwayeong cleans up the basement with Dad, Yunhui is up in Ujin‛s room. She sits on the bed while he works on his music. (Why is she there? Why didn‛t she go home?) She goes to his drum set and starts messing around on them. Ujin gets up and puts his arms around her from behind to show her how to play the drums. Next we see her leaving the mansion in an ecstatic state.

Deleted Scene... class ul Back at the family home, Donghun is taking Rani out to the park to play. He basically ignores Hyejin. When they pass the corner grocery shop, the lady stops Donghun. The night before when Hyejin had got Sungwu‛s call to come to the bar, she left her bag of vegetables with the storekeeper, saying she had to rush to help a friend. ‛A friend,‛ asks Donghun? At the playground, he stops to look at the bag of groceries. Besides vegetables there are perishables, like ice cream that is melted. Donghun is puzzled at what had happened to cause Hyejin, so close to home, to run off to ‛a friend‛ and not come home for hours.

Yunhui brings a plate of fruit to Myeonghui, who is on the phone with Cheolsu. Cheolsuk simultaneously is bringing fruit to her brother and scares him to death, catching him in the act of being giddy on the phone with Myeonhui. Apparently they are making arrangement to go shopping together.
In the evening, Donghun asks Hyejin if she‛s been really busy at work lately. She again apologizes for being late, but then goes on to lie to him that she had to stay at the gallery to receive a painting that arrived late. Donghun is sick at heart. Getting his jacket, he says he has to go to the store for razors. She asks if he wants her to come along? No... he leaves. Outside in the swing, Donghun thinks about what the storekeeper told her, then the lie Hyejin just told him in their room.

Over at Yeonghui‛s, she is now like Ki-chang, lining up the boys to send them off for school, etc. Excitedly she gets ready for work, then overhears Ki-chang having to explain to all his traditional relatives, pretending that he isn‛t bankrupt, that he‛s okay, etc. Yeonghui has no sympathy for him, rubbing in the fact that he‛s at home now... what will he do? She leaves. The housekeeper arrives and makes Ki-chang‛s life even more miserable—he can‛t find peace and quiet anywhere.

At the art gallery, the wife of the professor is snooping around. She‛s really annoyed when she sees Hyejin‛s Sad Magnolia hanging in the museum. The three busy-body rich friends meet and Prof‛s wife tells them Hyejin is succeeding because Sungwu, a rich, single man, is making it happen for Hyejin. How else could Hyejin succeed as she has? She wonders how Hyejin‛s husband would feel about all this...

Sungwu takes Hyejin out for some "business." A photographer secretly snaps them everywhere they go, many of the photos looking very friendly, indeed. Most condemning, I suppose, is that Hyejin is always smiling and very happy with Sungwu.

When they return to the gallery, they are met by Sungwu‛s wife! (Rude and nasty). Sungwu drags her away to talk. Wifey wants to live with him, which Sungwu can‛t understand. She wanted the divorce years ago but begged him not to sign it because of inheritance problems with her father. Now her situation has changed. If she doesn‛t live with Sungwu, her father will give all his holdings to her sister. She tries to kiss Sungwu, but he will have none of it. He tells her he would rather die than live with her again, that he won't forget "what happened in New York." She discerns that he is in love with Hyejin and tells him she will let him have his girlfriend if he will live with her. When he turns it all down, she is angry and storms out. Unfortunately, Hyejin is walking towards her with some papers. Wifey hauls off and slaps her really hard in the face, telling Hyejin that she is still Sungwu‛s wife, they aren‛t divorced yet!

Hyejin is stunned, then angrily goes to Sungwu‛s office, wanting to know why she has to be treated like this! Are they (HJ & SW) involved? What has she done wrong? Sungwu sees that Hyejin has been slapped. As she gets herself all worked up to him, she turns to leave. He grabs her and pulls her into his arms. They stay that way for a while....

An express delivery guy on a motorcycle comes to Donghun‛s place of business to deliver an envelope. In a meeting, Donghun doesn‛t see it until later. When he opens it, he finds all the secret photos of Hyejin and Sungwu smiling and laughing together, in nice restaurants, having drinks, in his convertible, and so forth. A knife in Donghun‛s heart...

Re: K-Drama: 사랑을 믿어요 (My Love, My Family)

I just can't think that Hyejin is an upright moral Korean wife. The situations in which she is alone with her boss are too easily accepted by her. Actually there is a case for harassment against him. She should be definitely pushing him away and to the point of letting him know he is way out of line. Why does it take a hearty slap from his wife to make her feel hard done by? Bit late in the day I think.

This drama so far is very loosely woven. I sm looking forward to seeing how the writers will tighten things up and solve the various twosomes.

At present I think the only thing that will bring Hyejin to her senses will be what happens with her child. She seems to love her but does not spend much time with her. If it comes to a point where her husband steps in and breaks up the family then she may wake up to what is more important to her. Either her family, or the life of a free woman immersed in the arts. I don't think she will find it simple to be alone and I don't think the wife of the Director will really let
life be simple for Hyejin.
It's for sure that the three rich former 'friends' are never going to let go of their jealousy.

I caught that too (3 friends of Hyejin). They were very sympathetic as long as she was 'needy' and poor. Now that she has some recognition and a high position, they are bad mouthing her. Guess their friendship only went as far as her staying beneath them.

Actually, Hyejin would never have been in the position to become a lecturer at a university, write a column or give interviews without Sungwu's influence which he only has through his father. It doesn't seem as if he achieved much of anything if not for the wealth and prestige of his father and family.

I don't know is Hyejin is an honorable Korean wife, but she is being dishonest with her husband. She should have rejected Sungwu's attention to her. They are both acting irresponsible, but I think, he is the more evil of the two.

i never like those friends of Hyejin (or should i called them the gossiper...)
They treat Hyejin like she was never existed before, and then now after Hyejin succeed, they are badmouthing them...
The one that i called HyeJin's friend is the one who offer HyeJin work at the museum.
She's nice..

Still wondering who is the person who sent Donghun the photos?
There are only two possibilities...
(the professor's wife or Sangwu's wife...)

It could be the professor. He has "a lean and hungry look." Never trust Korean Drama characters with mustaches. It is like the black hat in American westerns, except for Hopalong Cassidy. Then again it could be Sungwu. "Cui bono?"(Who benefits?) as they say in crime dramas.

Sung Woo's wife might not have known about HyeJin's family and where her husband worked. It would have actually helped Sung Woo if HyeJin's marriage broke up because of the pictures. That would not have helped Sung Woo's wife.

Along another line, there is the gaggle of female staff members of the museum who might want to create a scandal to force HyeJin to resign. Then one or all of them could make a move on the director.

I really thought Art Director's newly-returned wife was "Sua" (Yu In-Young) back from Likeable You, as only Sua was as haughty and tall like that. But I don't see her listed so I guess it isn't her.
It appears that the actress is Kim Hye Jin, who appeared in "Dong Yi" and "IRIS." She is 170 centimeters tall, which is 67 inches. That is not very tall by Western standards. The actress playing HyeJin is 64 inches tall. Three inches is not much difference in height. They used camera angles to empasize the height difference.

After I posted the reply I noticed that the actress playing the wife has the same real given name as the character she slapped.

Re: K-Drama: 사랑을 믿어요 (My Love, My Family)

I will be surprised if it is someone other than the professor's wife who is behind the photos. Hyejin was the professor's favorite (and most talented) student back in the old days before the "friend" ended up marrying him. Prof Wife is very jealous and spiteful. Making Hyejin suffer seriously (though probably privately by Donghun insisting she quit) would be P-wife's malicious style.

Efparri, you might be right about K-men with mustaches! LOL! The wildly plaid suit and beret kind of offset anything serious about him in my mind, though. I think he benefits greatly from Hyejin's involvement with his university, now that she's getting popular in the art world. BTW, while I was watching this last episode, I was thinking that the writers have rewritten the Prof. In the beginning, he was a menacing, rather shadowy character I feared. Now he seems to have morphed into more of a benign though highly visible representative of the unconventional art world.

As for Sungwu's wife, I can't see her bothering with something as boring as sending photos to Donghun. Wifey likes drama... Big Drama. She'd rather physically attack Hyejin and then move to the Big Boys for support—probably her FIL, Sungwu's dad. Wifey's motive is primarily to live with Sungwu so she can get her hands on her father's money. Secondarily, she probably enjoys picking on Hyejin, especially since Sungwu detests Wifey, while Hyejin is the object of his affections.

But, who knows what spin the writers will put on this. The way they change up things, it could be any of the above mentioned characters who commissioned the secret photos. Maybe it was Sungwu's father.
