Re: K-Drama: 웃어라 동해야 (Smile Again / Smile Donghae)

I also enjoyed watching the brothers at the beach. And when Donghae was pouring water over Dojin to wash the ocean off him, it seemed Dojin enjoyed the moment. It seemed like he had that mean look on his face but he also looked as though he wanted Donghae to do that..... as a brother.

I was again very irritated with Anna. First for crying and holding onto James, in front of Piljae, and secondly for going to see James to begin with. She has told Donghae and Ms. CEO she wouldn't see James but she continues to do so.

I know Anna has carried the torch for James all these years, but Ms CEO has lived with him as his wife so (to me) I think Anna was way out of line. Of course I understand she's mentally limited so perhaps just giving in to her overwhelming emotions for him. She's a super nice person but her actions the past couple episodes have bothered me.

Tonight's the last episode. I have to say that the actors playing Dojin and his mother have done a great job. Dojin acted the part of the greedy, spoiled brat to perfection. Ms CEO did great in holding on to 'her' hotel and 'husband' using any means necessary. They both get my vote for best acting in this drama.

I think they pretty much deleted most of the scenes between Saewa's mother and head chef. She finally agreed to go out with him (he asked for one month and she said that was too long) but her daughter convinced her to go. THey were out and she excused herself to go to the restroom and two women came up and one told him she wanted to introduce him to her sister (the other woman) and when S mom turned and saw that she rushed back to his side and started gushing over him and made him leave.

Later he shows up to her house just as youngest daughter is trying to get Saewa to eat, for her baby's sake, and he brought them an entire tray of all kinds of foods. So basically, S mom and head chef are a hot item...lol

Ms Cho and her husband were talking and he was asking where Anna was. Mom says don't worry about her because Piljae is with her and also Piljae had watched over Mr Cho as if he were a son. I think (were this a true story) that Mr & Mrs Cho want their daughter to be happy above anything else and would/will eventually push a marriage between them, even if they are in-laws. Also, both Mrs & Mr Cho said they would never allow Jun to be with Anna when Ms. CEO is also 'their' daughter.

It took you long enough. emoticon I've felt this way from the very beginning. Nice that you've come around to my way of thinking. emoticon

No matter what kind of marriage they had, they're married and to me that means that he could live without Anna and did. It also means, hand off! She had no right to try to break up his marriage on something that was brief and happened 27 years ago. Of course, he was out of line too. All's well, that ends well. emoticon

KDR is alive and well!! emoticon

Thanks for the info, nsheldon. Maybe Donghae will now officially become James' son. Last episode tonight- just doesn't seem like enough time to comfortably wrap things up (at least for me). But this is how it is in k- drama land, when they usually skip ahead by months or years in the last episode.

It hard to believe that they will be able to tie all the loose ends up and have everyone participating in the...." and they all lived happily ever after" moment in one episode. The actors will be jogging through the last episode. It will be a whirlwind!

This drama has been a lot of fun. There were characters you love to hate and characters that you wanted to root on to victory. There were as usual transformations that were really a stretch in the believablity column. For the most part the characters ended up in their best places. The Anna- Piljae non-resolution is the most disappointing unless at the last moment they slip in a wedding. But also the Anna-Piljae eventual marriage might be hinted at or maybe for them a deep friendship is best. In the real world marriage doesn't always solve everything.

To all of you, thanks for making this journey enjoyable. Sometimes the Runboard was more stimulating than the show itself!

I had the feeling that last night's closing scene of Bongi and Saewa facing Donghae and Dojin might have been the end of 'present time.' I'm curious what tonight will bring, but what I'm expecting is that the episode will start with the big time jump (1 year or more) having already occurred.

Well, I can honestly say that I totally enjoyed the ending. Everything and everyone where they should be. KDR for ALL!!! LOL

Yujin and Mr Gross meet up at the airport... you know where that's going!

Best part was, when Ms. CEO was holding hands w/Mrs Cho, Anna put her hand in there too and they all had wedding rings on... My Piljae finally got his Anna...

Nsheldon, I must say that I did not pay careful attention to the details of the three women and their rings, ( and I don't want to burst your bubble if this is true)... but could they be the rings that Mrs. Cho had saved for a long time? I remember Mrs. Cho was showing Bongi her jewelry and asked her which piece she would like. She mentioned she was saving the rings for her, her daughter, and Mrs. Kim? Oh well, I don't know if it's that or if Anna did marry Piljae( I hope she did-I didn't see anything to suggest otherwise). Didn't Bongi look great with her longer hair? Were they extensions, or did she wear a wig this whole series, covering her long hair? ( Does that make sense?)

Re: K-Drama: 웃어라 동해야 (Smile Again / Smile Donghae)

Dong Hae and Bongi left Dojin and Saewa behind to try to resolve their differences. Saewa and Dojin talked for a while and Saewa drove back to Seoul alone. Saewa confirmed that she was still pregnant and asked Dojin to turn himself in for the sake of the baby. Dojin remained in the room and then suddenly rose to leave.

Hye Suk told Dong Baek that she was giving up Kim Jun. Dong Baek went back to Kim Jun's room and overheard him moaning for his wife. Dong Baek told Kim Jun that he should stay with his wife. She left and caught up with Hye Suk and told her that she was letting James go. Kim Jun later called Piljae to tell him to take care of Dong Baek. Piljae caught a taxi to the hospital and saw Dong Baek sitting alone outside. Dong Baek tearfully told Piljae that she was giving up on Kim Jun. Piljae and Dong Baek embraced.

Dong Hae and Bongi told the Chairman and his wife about Kim Jun's surgery and convinced them not to visit the hospital.

Sae Yeong visited Tae Hun at his job at the Judicial Center. He became a prosecutor. Gone are the bangs. Sae Yeong is a famous model.

Saewa was the lone anchor on the 9:00 PM news. Outside the studio, a nanny gave the baby to Saewa. Dojin showed up and held the baby. Later on, his mother held the baby.

Kim Jun agreed to undergo surgery. Dojin showed up just before Kim Jun was taken into the operating room. Piljae and Dong Baek were in the background watching Kim Jun go into the operating room.

Kim Sun Woo returned to Korea to face the music. Apparently he got off lightly. Later we see Sun Woo and Yujin meeting at the airport and Sun Woo pulling Yujin's luggage. They both were on the way to New York.

Bongi and Dong Hae finally had their official wedding presided over by Chef Bang. Chef Bang is earlier seen in Sul Nyeo house holding Sae Yeong's third child while the twins are walking and talking. He married Sul Nyeo earlier. All the cast except Sun Woo and Yujin attended Dong Hae's and Bongi's.

Kim Jun and Hye Suk returned from a volunteer trip to Africa together. Saewa and Dojin reconciled after Dojin served his short prison sentence and they rewed. Dong Baek had on a ring from Piljae. Dojin acknowledged Dong Hae as his older brother and thanked him for taking care of Saewa snd the baby while he was away.

There was the obligatory group picture at the end. They used the one year later ploy to tie up most of the loose ends. Mr. Lee received a document which he read at the wedding. It was Dong Hae's and Dong Baek's Korean citizenship documents. Dong Hae is now Kim Dong Hae.

Jung Ae Ri, the actress who plays Hong Hye Suk, is actually doing volunteer work in Africa. It could be that the scene of her returning from Africa was filmed in advance because the actress may have already been in Africa with her husband when the final show was filmed.

Re: K-Drama: 웃어라 동해야 (Smile Again / Smile Donghae)

Beckyroonie: I always chat w/my friend every night after the episode ends so we can rip it apart. When I told her about the rings on the three women (and they were all the same ring) she told me those were the rings Ms. Cho had for each of them, definitely bursting my bubble!! lol

However, the episode previous Ms Cho was telling her husband that Piljae cared for him when he was in the hospital as if he (Piljae) were Mr Cho's son... and added that Piljae loved Dongbeck so much... kinda hinting that she would not be opposed to a union with Anna/Piljae.

Also, last night they left out an important part where James calls Piljae from the hospital (after James told Anna that his WIFE was the air he breathed), and Piljae rushed over there and found Anna sitting outside the hospital on a bench. She was crying and Piljae pulled her into a hug. She told him that she can't think of James anymore and can only have him as a memory. Piljae told her that she has to just focus on HIM now and that HE will be by her side until the day he dies.

Soooo me and my friend chose to believe that Anna and Piljae are a couple now. When they walked up at the end it was Anna, Piljae and the little girl and they looked like a family. I'm gonna think just that... they are now a family... lol

I also wanted to mention how much I enjoyed the actress that played Piljae's daughter. I though she was outstanding. There were deleted scenes with her, like last night... her and her dad (and Bongi's parents) were enjoying a cob of corn each (that's when James called Piljae). The daughter has the most hilarious expressions and was telling her dad she didn't have a mother because of HIM. She told him she tried and tried to help him but he just wouldn't do what she told him to do. She was just so adorable. While she's talking she's pounding her chest with her fist and shaking her head and rolling her eyes. Totally loved all scenes with her!

I'm glad hotel boy had to do time in prison. It kinda let him off the KDR hook and I was satisfied that he paid for what he did.
