Re: K-Drama: 웃어라 동해야 (Smile Again / Smile Donghae)

In most K-drama the waring parties reconcile in the end,or somebody leaves the country to "study". Anna and Carl certainly want good relations, but Dojin and Mrs CEO have so much anger, that future reconciliation will be very difficult. I can see James and Mrs CEO back together if she gets over her Hotel mania, and stops treating Dojin as a 7 year old,and Anna as a thief.

'Loved your scenarios, har1102. I'd like to add another one to that. Once Donghae's brat half brother is done sweeping the lobby and mowing the lawn, he and Saewa can come and clean my bathroom...do my laundry...etc. etc.etc.

It is my opinion that Mr. Gross is a jerk. He may be good-looking, successful in his work, and have great social skills, but he has NO respect for Bongi. First the cake, then the getting into the car, and then the dinner with the ring. He trivializes everything she says to him. He's another one of those guys who always knows "what's best" for the little lady. Run, Bongi, run! She did a good job of standing up to him tonight. . .finally. . . when she walked out on him.
It would be comeuppance for both Gross and Yunji if they get together. They are cut from the same cloth. As if confidence in themselves shoved into another's face is attractive.

I guess it's true... great minds do think alike. As I read the posts, I find most of you are echoing my thoughts and opinions. You've saved me the effort to post them.
But just to add a bit. I'm hoping something goes on between Gross and Yujin. There's still more than thirty eps left. Surely they can build on this. I'm really liking Yujin. I want to see more of her.
I'd also like to see what happens with TaeHoon and SaeYoung Does he make it as a lawyer? Judge? and SaeYoung... Well, I really like her voice!
And as far as the evil triplets, I agree that the KDR will kick in. In the six years that I've been watching K-Dramas, I can only recall one where the transgressor was punished.
That said, it looks like the Cho's have surmised that Saewa and Mrs. CEO have lied to them. Where will this lead?
Twinne (nsheldon) Thanks for filling us in on the deleted stuff.

Re: K-Drama: 웃어라 동해야 (Smile Again / Smile Donghae)

They did a good job editing last night. Just Saewa at home arguing w/her sister... really nothing of importance.

The family all sleep together in that crowded little room (as Ms. CEO called it). Ms. CEO was so insulted by the Cho's not coming home and she tells James why doesn't he go stay there too and then the whole family would be together... I wanted... oh my how I wanted.. James to shove her aside in his haste to pack an over night bag and then rush past her (exiting) and saying, "See Ya"...

Poor Piljae. He doesn't feel he can be Anna's protector any more. He loved her and cherished her simplicity and wanted to be by her side and take care of her and give her happiness. Now he must feel like, "What can I do for her now?" As if he can no longer be Anna's knight in shining armor.

When gramps was telling Donghae (in bed) that Donghae will not have to worry about anything ever again and that HE (gramps) will take care of everything so Donghae can 'fly', Donghae had a tear come down his eye.

I am thinking that Donghae can only think about Ms. CEO now.. and his brother, spoiled rotten hotel boy. Donghae always felt as if him and his mother hurt Ms. CEO and Donghae thinks she has every right to be hurt and angry. Now that him and Anna are 'heirs' to the hotel I bet all he can think about is Ms. CEO's pain.

I believe Donghae will end up saying no to taking over the hotel... first because of his guilt over Ms. CEO and second Donghae has no desire to run a hotel. He just wants to cook.

Maybe Ms. CEO, Saewa and hotel boy will be satisfied then.

Now I'm thinking poor Mr Gross!! WHAT? I didn't like him before but I felt bad for him last night. Especially because we got a little more insight to his personality. He always wanted Bongi. He let her go once because she was engaged to someone else. He found out (while living in the States) that she was avail again so he put in a transfer. Unfortunately by time he got home, she was engaged again. He doesn't want to let his last chance go. I felt bad that Bongi's rejection came on his birthday ..

But Mr Gross can't have Bongi.. Him and Yujin should hook up. Oh, there was another scene last night or the night before where yujin had tried to take Bongi's ring and when she left she bumped into Mr. Gross...

Re: K-Drama: 웃어라 동해야 (Smile Again / Smile Donghae)

I felt sorry for both Mr. Gross and Ms. CEO last night. Gross gave it his best shot with Bongi and now he will stop. I loved the engagement ring he offered her last night. It's been a long time since I've seen a diamond set in yellow gold in an Asian drama. I thought this one was particularly beautiful.

As for Ms. CEO, the only person who is remembering her at the moment is Mr. Cho, who had a pang of conscience for both Ms. CEO and Dojin, who have been his family for 30+ years. I thought she took it amazingly well when she eventually found out that the Cho's weren't coming home—yet nobody bothered to let her know.

As for James, Mrs. CEO has an accumulation of anger and resentment towards him. There's nothing to blame him for in telling the truth about Anna. On the other hand, he has never been a supportive husband to his wife. Even though he is looking a little heroic here at the end, any woman would have gone crazy with a husband like him for all those years. A lump in the gravy, that was the extent of James' interest and involvement with his wife and son. James is lucky that's ALL she said to him. But where there's no sense, there's no feeling, so why bother. Ms. CEO fully knows she is the big loser with both her marriage and her "parents." Will she give up now? Maybe. Maybe not. She's a very focused businesswoman. There are still a lot of episodes to go, so we could have a whole lot more evil tricks happening before it's over.

But that's all water under the bridge at the moment. Mrs. Cho is out to cook Ms. CEO's goose (not to mention Saewa's). I imagine Donghae and Anna will be the ones to calm down the situation, since neither is vengeful. Personally, I am in complete agreement with Confucius' philosophy on the matter, “Before you embark on a journey of revenge, dig two graves.”

Well, so much for Mr. Gross. It's a shame the writers had to turn him into a nasty guy, but that's K-drama.

What have they done to Saewa's eyebrows?! I noticed it the last couple episodes. Not nearly as flattering as the way she looked before.

Bongi's mother outdid herself in an about face on Donghae and his new grandparents. Bongi didn't let her off the hook though, rubbing it in a little in a teasing way.

Re: K-Drama: 웃어라 동해야 (Smile Again / Smile Donghae)

LOL, I was just starting to change my mind about Mr Gross and then he pulled that stunt last night.

Hotel granny couldn't even finish lashing out at Saewa and Ms CEO. Her heart started hurting and she had to be taken away.

I realize that Ms CEO feels wronged.. But she has no right to. She was told by Hotel gramps that he would give her the hotel. But that's because he truly felt his daughter was dead. How stupid is she to believe that offer would still stand if his daughter were alive? And Hotel granny never gave up hope for her daughter so that's why she has refused to go along with giving the hotel to Ms. CEO.

Ms CEO is just plain greedy. Ms CEO has been paid handsomely for her work at the hotel. The situation has changed drastically... Gramps' reason for giving her the hotel has always been because there was no blood heir.

And Dojin made a remark that he wasn't going to let 'them' (Donghae and Anna) steal the hotel from HIM.

Granny made that comment that her husband may still want to give his shares to Ms. CEO... That should have lit her up like a Christmas tree! After what she's done ...to still possibly get 1/2. But that's not enough. She got that sour look on her face because she wants it ALL .

Even stupid Dojin (when he first found out a daughter had been found) was not being greedy or worrying about having to lose the hotel... not until he found out who it was.

Even if Hye Suk should inherit the hotel, I would not expect her to give the hotel to Dojin immediately . She has little confidence in his management ability. She is always telling what to do. She could outlive him since she does not get drunk and get into barroom fights.
