Why, because they're so boring?

Re: K-Drama: 웃어라 동해야 (Smile Again / Smile Donghae)

Good thing that Donghae and Taehun actually went to Grandpa Hotel to tell him what really happened, and with evidence at that. And when Bongi's mom said "I would like to stuff boxes of kimchi down their throats", I was cheering her on. But first, I would love to see the Evil Triplets (Mrs. CEO, Dojin, and Saewa) kneel down in front of the Taebong family and grovel for forgiveness...

Hey Pinaygirl... nice to hear from you.

And HEY SMOOCHIE!!! Donghae isn't boring. A bit 'too nice' for my taste - but I think he's cute, sweet, and honest. Bongi.. well, I'll let you get away with calling her boring!! lol

The way these people never 'tell' on someone drives me crazy. I was surprised that Donghae and Taehun (especially since Saewa is Taehun's SIL) went to Grandpa Hotel. I loved Saewa getting caught for her actions and also for having her get caught in front of Donghae. Sweet pay back!

Re: K-Drama: 웃어라 동해야 (Smile Again / Smile Donghae)

pali says--Too many of the characters are stereotypical with behavior that can only exist in a poorly written script which this is. I thought some of the other dailies were poorly written, but this is the worst of all.

There have been "loser" dramas in the past too. Have you forgotten- "The Holly Jolly Widows"? On the other hand, there have been some good ones too. "The Yellow Hankerchief" was my first KDrama and one of the best.

This KDrama we are watching now has peaks and valleys. It has the "Groundhog Day" syndrome, where the plot veers off into repetitions of earlier plots (we still have a couple of people to get hit by a car) until you want to scream-"we heard this song before!"...... You start to wonder if they are having trouble adding extra episodes in a creative, believeable way. Then, just as I am about to give this drama up, they suck me back into the story.

I am really impressed with the acting of some of the people in this drama, especially Anna. The actress was so-o-o different in "Three Brothers". Her character was totally different and her interpretation of her character was excellent. Bravo to Anna.

I still want Saewa punished. Keeping her married to Dojin might be a good punishment and have them live with her goofy mother. Dojin was such a nice guy in "Three Brothers"....but in this one he is immature and mean. Saewa and Dojin deserve each other.

Personally, I really like Seonu. He's a man of action... sees what he wants and goes after it. Not to mention that he's so positive and ALIVE. He really doesn't do anything objectionable, he just talks, so I have no problem (at the moment) with his tactics. Bongi doesn't have to say 'yes.' But it sure is nice to see a guy who knows what he wants for a change. In watching Donghae around Seonu, he seems like a chip off the old block, James. Donghae just sort of stands around and doesn't do or say much in staking out his 'claim' or in defending Bongi. Seonu and Piljae are basically the same type of man—that's why I like them both.

Thanks for filling in the deleted scenes, Nsheldon. Even if we can't see it, it's nice to know the Evil Triplets (as Pinaygirl calls them) are being made to squirm more and more.

As for James, I'm beginning to feel his pain! It's been hard enough for him to deal with whether or not to leave his family and go to Anna and Donghae. Now, to learn that the woman he loves is also the daughter of his wife's 'parents,' the wife he wants to shed.... Yikes! How can Anna's parents ever accept James with Anna after he's been their 'son-in-law' for 30 years with Ms. CEO?!

Re: K-Drama: 웃어라 동해야 (Smile Again / Smile Donghae)

Is James upset over finding out Anna is the missing daughter? He almost fell out with shock. He should be overjoyed for her and Donghae. Sometimes I just don't get James...

I'm certain I'm a tattle tale because I'd rush over to old gramps and tell him what an insincere apology Dojin gagged out. None of them had a genuine apology really. It humiliated Ms. CEO so say 'sorry' and Saewa is such an expert deceit that she had no problem with her fake 'sorry'.

When Yujin comes on to Donghae in front of Bongi it doesn't bother me. But when Seonu does the same thing it just irks me. (I would like to see Seonu in another drama though because I think he is super good looking).

I'm assuming Donghae got in the back seat with James because he wanted to show disrespect for James (?). He didn't see Dojin until he got in.

Actually I expected Uncle Piljae to be the one to barge into the hotel and confront the evildoers. Glad to see Taehun and Alex speak up. But quite disappointed at the fake and insincere apologies of the evil triplets. That would have been the perfect time for Bongi's momma to stuff kimchi down their throats.

Re: K-Drama: 웃어라 동해야 (Smile Again / Smile Donghae)

James is happy for Anna to be reunited with her parents. He is pained over the other consequences he sees about to happen. The other side of the coin (misery for him) is that it means he will have to give up his dream and desire to become a family with Anna and Donghae, and he will have to see his wife (Ms. CEO) and son (Dojin) brokenhearted and ruined by Anna and Donghae entering the picture as the rightful heirs. James now becomes the main instrument for inflicting that pain on his wife and son. If he kept quiet (as his wife wants), he could avoid a lot of this pain. But because of his love for Anna, he will sacrifice his own feelings for her happiness, for what is right for Anna.

James wants to disappear with his new family and basically forget the past with his wife, yet keep his relationship with Dojin. With both Ms. CEO and Anna being the 'daughters' of the Cho's, James would be constantly reminded of his own shame, guilt, and embarrassment. He is truly caught between a rock and a hard place. Not much happiness to be found there, I'm afraid. Yet, he has chosen to do what is right for Anna and her bio-parents. He's being rather selfless in this, knowing he's about to set off a big explosion by telling the Cho's the truth about Anna and Donghae.

Thanks Nchristi.. well said. I just didn't look at it like that. But you're right.

James is suffering and I figured it was because of the pain he knew his wife will have and it made me mad that he was worrying for her welfare over Anna and Donghae's. Didn't think beyond that.

James will have to accept never being with the woman he has always loved. And HIM being the one to deliver the 'blow' causing Ms. CEO her downfall certainly would give him a life of grief. Then there is Dojin. He loves his son... sons.

I was watching Episode 119. This episode is where Kim Sun Woo is visiting Tae Hun's family. Sun Woo was asked if he went to Pennsylvania Saint School, where all the smart kids go. I wonder if the translators meant Pennsylvania State University or the University of Pennsylvania with its world renowned Wharton School of Business.
