Re: J-Drama: ラブ・シャッフル (Love Shuffle)

Neko-san, sounds good! I'm excited to watch this drama already! emoticon

By the way, I found it interesting that Love Shuffle was aired in Japan as the next drama following Ryusei no Kizuna / Bound by Shooting Stars, the Friday night 9pm drama that's currently being aired on 18.2. It's still pretty recent.

Re: J-Drama: ラブ・シャッフル (Love Shuffle)

Episode 1 (Part 1)

Well, this was certainly a unique concept for a drama. Four neighbors meet when their elevator gets stuck during a Tokyo blackout, and start talking about their relationship problems. They eventually decide to participate in a 'love shuffle' - switching their partners around with each other so that their partners will eventually realize how good they have it. They decide to meet in a bar and introduce everyone to each other so they can begin the actual 'shuffling'.

The first thing I thought was... too many characters! It's always difficult to memorize the names and faces as soon as we begin a new drama, especially when there's pretty much 8 'main characters'. I'll just write the names down here, it might make it a little easier to remember, LOL! class ul class li Kei Usami: Played by Tamaki Hiroshi, who played Sakamoto Ryoma in Atsuhime and has been in quite a lot of other dramas, too. He used to be engaged to Mei, the daughter of a wealthy company owner. Due to the engagement, Kei gained a high-ranking job, but isn't particularly liked by Mei's father (the company president) or her older brother (the VP). After Mei wants to break up their relationship, Kei hears from the older brother that he may get fired if the marriage falls through. class li Aizawa Airu: She's an interpreter fluent in English, French, and Spanish working at a TV station. Airu apparently went to junior high school with Kei's girlfriend Mei, but Airu doesn't remember her. Airu is currently dating Oishi Yukichi, the man with the glasses. We don't know much about him yet, but he seems rather quirky, always calling her. I think in the beginning of the episode, she called him a 'stalker' on the phone. He's certainly a unique fellow! class li Sera Ojiro: Played by Shota Matsuda, AKA Tokugawa Iemochi from Atsuhime and one of the F4 Boys from Boys Over Flowers. He always gets these playboy type roles, doesn't he, LOL! He's playing the role of a model photographer, and is currently dating Kamijyo Reiko, a woman older than he. We don't know much yet about her either, but the 'partners' were recently introduced, so I guess we'll find out more about them later. class li Kikuta Masato: The psychiatrist! He's my favorite character here so far. Apparently, he tells the group that he couldn't convince his girlfriend to come to the 'shuffle' meeting. But he's really funny. I forget where we've seen this actor before, but he always does a great job. I think the psychiatrist will be my favorite character in this drama. He's the one who came up with this whole 'love shuffle' business!Too early to say yes or no, but it sure has an interesting concept so far. It'll be interesting to see how this pans out.

I think this will only happen for the first couple of weeks. UTB divided the first episode of Love Shuffle into two parts (and are airing it over two weeks), so that's probably why they are ending it at 9:45pm.This way, they'll be able to air the complete second half of Ep. 1 next week. The drama will most likely finish at at the regular time (10pm) starting with Ep. 2.

Speaking of Shota Matsuda….wasn’t he also on “bara no nai hanaya”???

Oh, yes did I mention that this drama would be a mystery~???!!!!

Re: J-Drama: ラブ・シャッフル (Love Shuffle)

I watched this morning's replay at 10:30a. This one has possibilities. A weird collection of personalities about to switch partners in an effort to get Mei to see that Bunny is better than other men—hope it doesn't do the opposite!

Kei Usami - Nicknamed "Bunny."
Ojiro - Erotic Photographer. Nicknamed "Bakeratta," the little brother of Q-Taro the ghost. (Have to look up this reference, I guess, since it means nothing to me at present.?)
Ai-Ai - Nicknamed "Ducky"
Kikuta Masato - Nicknamed ... guess he doesn't get one.

I cracked up when they were stuck in the elevator and about to take a wiz while singing "Dancing Queen" at the top of their lungs! Very funny. Couldn't have chosen a better song.

From the official Shoeless Joe Jackson website class ul Jackson was a contemporary of Babe Ruth.

He named his favorite bat "Black Betsy." It was 36-inches long and weighed 48 ounces.

He received his nickname "Shoeless," after playing a minor league game in his stockings because a new pair of spikes had given him blisters on his feet the previous day.

Joe Jackson was suspended from playing baseball in 1920 for allegations of his involvement in the throwing of the 1919 World Series.

In 1921, a Chicago jury acquitted Jackson of aiding to fix the 1919 World Series. But Judge Kenesaw Mountain Landis, first commissioner of baseball, went against the courts' decision and banned Jackson and seven other Chicago players from baseball for life.
In the Kevin Costner movie, Field of Dreams, Shoeless Joe Jackson was the ballplayer for whom Costner's character built the baseball diamond in the corn field—If you build it, he will come.

So much for trivia...

So that's the true story behind 'Say it ain't so, Joe'! Bunny was saying that phrase so much that I thought the psychiatrist was going to nickname him 'Joe' instead of 'Bunny', LOL! emoticon

Yeah, there were a few inside jokes and references in this drama that I was having a hard time understanding. I think 'Bunny' got his nickname because his last name, Usami, sounds similar to the Japanese word for 'rabbit', Usagi. But I don't know how the photographer got his 'Bakeratta' nickname.

This looks promising indeed. Hopefully it'll get off to a good start!

Regarding "Bakaretta", maybe it's because Qtaro's little brother named Ojiro ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Obake_no_Q-tar%C5%8D ). Must be the doctor's technique for remembering things by associate a name with something he familiar with.

On a side note, I remember reading few chapters of Qtaro when I little, since it looks a bit like doraemon.
