Unfortunately, I don't have TV Japan, but I've found other creative ways to watch some Japanese programming.
Since I only live a couple of blocks away, I've been watching the Grand Sumo Tournament at Marukai on the big screen TV in the food court. If you go at the right time of day, you might also catch the Taiga or Asadora... I'm such a cheapskate. 笑

Re: J-Star: 木村拓哉 Kimura Takuya
Really don't know what happened to my post but I was relaying the news that Kimura san was going to be doing a new drama, as yet untitled, this year. He will be a school teacher who gets involved in politics and ends up as Prime Minister...!!! Interesting??
His co star will be Eri Fukatsu who was with him in "One Million Stars" in 2002. They are good together. Both good actors.
Something to look forward to...

Re: J-Star: 木村拓哉 Kimura Takuya
Diane,
I am so glad you saw One Million Stars. I thought it was the most marvellous drama and Kimura san showed such a great range in doing that role. It was fascinating to see Sanma doing such a serious role also. loved this drama. The ending was sheer perfection in my opinion.
How does Kimura get into these characters. He is really a master of invention.

Re: J-Star: 木村拓哉 Kimura Takuya
Madonna sings theme song for Kimutaku drama
March 16, 2008
Pop star Madonna is now connected to one of Japan's biggest celebrities. It was announced on Sunday that she is providing the theme song for the upcoming Takuya Kimura drama series that will air on Fuji TV. This is reportedly the first time one of her songs will be used as the theme for a television series.
Production staff for the drama, titled "CHANGE," wanted a major international artist to do the theme song. Thinking they had nothing to lose, they made an offer last December to Madonna, who happened to be working on her new album, "Hard Candy." After hearing about the drama's story and seeing the staff's enthusiasm, she accepted the offer and created the ballad "Miles Away."
"CHANGE" stars Kimura as an elementary school teacher who gets thrown into the political arena and winds up becoming the Prime Minister of Japan. Eri Fukatsu co-stars as his secretary. Other cast members include Hiroshi Abe as Kimura's election planner, Rosa Kato as a campaign assistant, and Akira Terao as the ruling party's general council chairman.
The drama will air on Mondays at 9:00pm, starting next month.

This should be interesting. Madonna has appeared on the SMAPxSMAP Bustro show and also sang with them at that time so she knows who they are as a group and individually.
