posticon K-Movie: 동갑내기 과외하기 일반판 (My Tutor Friend)

hi, i am new to the whole forum business. hope to become a pro asap.

anywaz, i just wanted to say that i just watched a great korean movie. recently, i decided to go on a crusade looking for a korean video store in garden grove that supplies english subtitled movies/series. i just started yesterday and only visited one store emoticon all in all, it was a worth while trip becuz i found this movie and enjoyed it immensely. as you can see from the post icon, i am grinning until i turn green emoticon

i think this is retarded of me to say, but the movie is called My Tutor Friend; hence the title in the subject box emoticon

has anyone seen this? if not yet, i recommend it to everyone. my crusade will continue today at different stores, so wish me luck and i will get back to you all with the best stores out there. or, if someone out there in internet land already went on a crusade similar to mine, please please share what you discovered so that my precious time would not be wasted and i can spend it on watching some more great kdramas.

Edit: Added Korean title.

shouldn't there be a korean video store somewhere on Garden Grove Blvd.? considering that is where most of the Korean businesses are located, along that street

This is a fun movie. I especially like the little pop ups. Other Korean romantic comedies, if you haven't already seen them are:

My Sassy Girl
Who Are You?
Conduct Zero
Bet on My Disco

Korea has been making great movies for the past 4 or 5 years. Many popular films have been purchased by American film companies either to be remade or released here.

So far I've only watched "My Sassy Girl," but I fell in love with that movie. I remember when I was watching, I kept looking at the running time because I was afraid they wouldn't end up together since the movie was so close to finishing. But overall, great movie in my opinion. I've already seen it like 20 times emoticon.

Re: K-Movie: My Tutor Friend

i just rented "my sassy girl" and "marrying the mafia" @ the same korean video store. both movies were funning and i would watch it over and over again. i wanna go back for "volcano high." after that, i think there is no more movies there that i would like to watch. the only movies they have left are movies that are very melodramatic or just plain old heart wrenching (ie. "classic," "oasis," and etc). i haven't watched those yet, but according to internet reviews, they are real tear jerkers.

a drama that i must absolutely watch is "a successful story of a bright girl." i showed them the picture (my own unique form of communication with the owners since i can't speak one ounce of korean) but they didn't have it.

i want it, i want it, i want it.

phew, sorry for that little tantrum. but i really want it. i guess i just have to resort to buying it from ebay. from what i heard of the drama, it should be as good as "my tutor friend," maybe even better. even though i haven't seen it yet, i highly recommend it.

Re: K-Movie: My Tutor Friend

Another few Korean movies I have watched, and really enjoyed, were Lover's Concerto, The Classic, and Crazy First Love. All star Son Ye Jin, from Summer Scent (Shim Hye Won). Lover's Concerto and Crazy First Love star Cha Tae Hyun, from My Sassy Girl. Out of all three, I definitely recommend Lover's Concerto. Remember to carry a box or two of Kleenex because it truly is a remarkable story, with many humorous scenes, but with much more saddening and depressing scenes. This is my favorite Korean movie. But I don't want to downplay the other two movies. The Classic is a very well done love story, a serious and touching story, but with a bit of humor, and Crazy First Love is the opposite with alot of humor, but with some really teary scenes. All three were very well done.
