J-Special: 第56回NHK紅白歌合戦 (56th Annual NHK Song Festival/Contest)
class float-right class float-left LA-18 is showing the annual NHK song festival at 5:30pm on New Year's eve. This program is extremely popular in Japan since it always features tons of famous singers.
Keep an eye on the official page for announcements about performers and what they will be performing.

this is unconfirmed rumor, from a newspapre that I read, it seems that your favorite actress (Yukie, the lead actress in Gokusen 2) is going to be part of the hostess in this year's
2005 NHK Kouhaku Utagassen
be sure to tune in then, hehe. The rumour is confirmed with an announcement at the official site.
The Nakama, Yukie bio also mentions past works Trick and Musashi, and that she'll be in her third Taiga drama next year.

I loved Yukie's clothes in this <3 Especially that second outfit. And... Did anyone see Koike Teppei, Take in Gokusen 2, perform and the guy he sings with KNOCKS OVER THE MICROPHONE? ! Poor Teppei. But, got to hand it to them both, they didn't freak out and kept their cool.
And...who were those two crossdressers? I feel like I should have known who they were, but... I don't. I enjoyed it a lot... But. Visiting cousin was begging for me to change the channel. T.T Damnit.

And...who were those two crossdressers?Akiko Wada - She has sorta like man's voice, very deep and powerful vocal.
not sure if you were talking about her.
Mikawa Kenichi (美川憲一) - sorta like Japanese Liberachi, he likes to dress in fancy costumes.
last, Gorie, who dresses in female cheerleader outfit in this year's Kohauku. I think this guy is some sort of standup comic, from what I know.
edit: Teppei and the other guy is in the group called WaT.

Re: J-Special: 第56回NHK紅白歌合戦 (56th Annual NHK Song Festival/Contest)
I recorded the special but watched intermittently—between it, Tina Turner special and KBS Drama Awards, I was going nuts! (Yes, another argument for TiVo....)
It was fun seeing Kondo (blonde hair, fist and all) and Hijikata from Shinsengumi! I was curious about a drummer in one of the rock bands—he looked awfully much like Sasaki Kojiro from Musashi. I think what I enjoy most about this annual show is seeing all the actors I've been exposed to out of character and in their public personas.
As for Mikawa Kenichi, he has long been a favorite of mine. His female impersonation is so great—he makes a more fascinating woman than most female personalities! I first discovered him on a group talk/entertainment show some years back. Even though it wasn't subbed in English, I was fascinated watching him talk and by his mannerisms—not to mention what classy taste he possesses in clothes and accessories, presenting himself as a fabulous female celebrity. Very charismatic character.
Nakama Yukie is also a striking personality. I, too, loved the way she dressed in last night's show, especially the short pants with boots outfit. Very cute. She has the perfect body for all that. And she's in good shape, too. I was impressed by her ability and style in running (literally) as shown in Gokusen2, with much freedom and extension in her body movements. A very cute person.
I'm sure it will take me a while to finish watching the NHK Festival, but I'm looking forward to it. It is always such a grand, glitzy production. Except for somebody knocking down the microphones during that song by those two young guys (the one from Gokusen2)! Was it a stage hand who tripped on the cords, or something? That was funny how the singers just looked at each other and kept right on going! Kept their wits about them. The show must go on—and that they did!

From what I saw... The other guy ( Not Teppei from Gokusen 2 ) knocked the microphone with his guitar... Atleast, that's how it looked like to me. I'm so making this a New Years tradition for me X3

J-Special: 第56回NHK紅白歌合戦 (56th Annual NHK Song Festival/Contest)
I watched every minute of the Red and White show. I was looking for the SMAP group and especially Takuya Kimura. I just adore him for ever. It was a fascinating array of Japanese talent. Well...did I say talent?? Some of those young girl singers would never make it past the auditions for the 'American Idol 'show. I am really not being mean to them but they just don't know how to sing.
I was very impressed with the choices made by the voters for the artistis who were famous in the past. How devoted they must be to those older singers. Are they called 'enka' singers??
I thought Kimura was on top of his form from the start to the finish. So happy and enthusiastic about being there and obviously enjoying his praises being sung in his presence by (I think) Miyazaki... correct mer if I am wrong. He was being complimented anyway.
I am hoping to see the KBS Award show tonight. I think it may be repeated
Happy New Year and Blessings. Peggy
