Re: Favorite TV Drama Song
One Million Roses OST/DVD/CVD is still unavail on all sources I checked.
If one of you beautiful people should come across the sale of this OST could you please post it here?
BTW, Stairway to Heaven OST contains very pretty music with very sexy male voice.
Familiar with the CD "Candlelight"? Cover has pic of that very popular actress (she is in almost everything and was in Little Mermaid and was a presenter at the drama awards); set contains 2 or 3 discs. Wondering if it has many instrumentals. Would love some input.
Besides viewing all these wonderful dramas, I believe we can show support and interest by purchasing their OST's.

Re: Favorite TV Drama Song
Anyone out there familiar with "Carousel" drama, Fri 9:45-11:00 p.m.? Just wondering if in fact the actor who plays the singer, band leader, etc., is really a singer? This is the guy that presently was kicked out by his wife for not coming home one night and she found him entering the studio with his producer the following a.m. Right on, girl! Always one step ahead. It looks as though he is actually doing the singing--just curious.

DVD’s come “coded” for different areas: USA is Zone 1, Japan Zone 2, S. Korea Zone 3, etc. And, a Zone 3 DVD from Korea won’t play on your Zone 1 American DVD player.
There are companies that make a nice income modifying ordinary DVD players into “All Zone” players. I’ve seen them advertised by Koreatown merchants during some of our local L.A. Korean broadcasts, so they do seem to be available locally. Or you can try ordering one:
http://www.zonefreedvd.com/
Note that I’ve never ordered from these guys, so I can’t really vouch for them. But, their website does have a lot of good information, so it’s worth a look. I admit that I'm interested in maybe getting a code-free DVD player for myself someday, too - there are so many great Korean and Japanese dramas that we can't otherwise watch!
Hope this helps!
I know this should be in the tech forum but here goes.
Some of these sites selling region free dvd players are a rip off. I am talking about prices they want for these dvd players. Even the region free dvd players Yesasia is selling is to expensive.
You can get some of these players at your local Sam's Club, Costco, Walmart, Radio Shack and even online at Amazon.com.
Some brands to look for are by Daewoo, Cyberhome, Toshiba & Philips. Of course these are not region free out of the box. You must enter codes through the remote control or hack it with a firmware upgrade. But you can fine these models from about $50-$80.

Re: Favorite TV Drama Song
Ok getting back to drama ost's. I always seem to enjoy a couple of songs from each drama. Maybe this is why I have so many drama ost's. I think I may have about 75 of them.

islandprincess, that was some fascinating information! Thanks!
Maybe I'll try to hunt down a Phillips 727 this week, and see if this really works!

Hi mikey, Here is another link to the same site comparing the Philips 727 to the Toshiba 3900.
http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthread.php?s=f344c10c9ac4aef49abca99d243eb689&threadid=316570&highlight=Philips
Personally I prefer the Toshiba 4900 model. One big reason is it plays dvd-r's well. I have a few friends who asked for a region free dvd player and this is the one I told them to buy. But I have heard good things about the Philips model.

Re: Favorite TV Drama Song
You guys are just awesome!
Thanks for all the great info and glad you posted here instead of the tech forum--I tend to shy away from that category.
Islandprincess, do you have the Stockflower CD noted on earlier page?
Did you hear that now you can go to various Starbucks and enjoy your coffee or mocha while they burn a CD with songs you select from their list? Isn't this the same thing as burning from the internet w/o paying the artist?

Re: Favorite TV Drama Song
While checking e-bay to see if they may have the inside track on the OMR OST , I came across an Import album entitled Tokiko Romantic "One Million Roses" Tokiko Kato produced by Sony in Aug 2001.
Anybody familiar with this artist?
This was a 'one of a kind' by an individual, not a music store. Also, a gentleman at AnNyoung informed me that there is a Million Roses track with 'very pretty music' that he had located for some person requesting the OMR OST. However, he could not readily come up with the artist nor the exact title. Perhaps he was talking about Tokiko?

Re: Favorite TV Drama Song
Sunshine, my first choice was the Phillips DVP-727, but I searched everywhere and there just weren't any.
My second choice was the Phillips DVP-642. I went to three Target stores, and all three had one on display - but none in stock!
Finally, a fourth Target had one left - and I bought it ($69.95). Very reasonably priced, and the all-region "hack" (punching a few numbers into the remote) took all of about 15 seconds.
However: I haven't had a chance to actually try my new Phillips with an out-of-region DVD yet (the ones I had on order from Japan got back ordered). So I don't know if the "hack" actually works, but when I punched in the code the player responded correctly.
Might be a good idea to buy a 642 quickly: when Phillips learns that we've figured out a way around the region codes, they will likely start shipping them with new firmware that will block this from happening!
BTW, the instructions I got for the all-region "hack" for the Phillips 642 are as follows:
1. Turn on the player.
2. Open the tray.
3. Press the following sequence on the remote:
7 8 9 OK 0
4. The number 0 will appear on the lower left side of your screen.
5. Your player is now region free! Put in a DVD and enjoy!
It seemed to work - but I'll let everyone know if it REALLY works when my Japanese DVDs arrive in a few weeks!
