emceema, those are just great! I have looked at them several times now--can't get enough (as one of us has immortilized as her moniker!) After all this time, a bunch of people who are as crazy about kdrama as I am. I remember telling a friend years ago that this was just a passing thing for me, but I was wrong.

There's a really good restaurant near the Plaza that has big rooms--Yong something. I've been there with my korean friend. She celebrated her daughter's first birthday there, with a big group.

Wow, looks like you guys had a great time. I'm jealous I couldn't be there it looks like so much fun and a good turnout. Here in NYC we find out what's in the spoonholder. Only 7 more episodes here and I'm already have separation anxiety. K Drama Kween, I'm so there with the dvds, anything you want I'll give you. Please don't toy with me. I'd love to see this again from the beginning. I wonder if they ever do that here in NY, re-air a drama. I haven't seen that so far, but if the powers that be realize the popularity of this particular drama, hey, you never know. Please don't desert this board because you've all seen the last episode, because I still need support here and will come back until I get a way to buy the dvd's. And then I'm going to need to discuss them again. You get the picture, Never. I'm here at work and have to sign off now. I'll post later from home. Enjoy your day, everyone.

Thanks to all for the great pictures! And the narratives!

Since I wasn't there I made a game of trying to match face with name. Didn't do too, well, but instantly identified both Tankersparks and emceemand Charles, of course.

Glad everybody had such a fantastic time. Thanks for sharing it with the rest of us, too! emoticon

Awe MAAAAAAN!!!!! EMCEEMA!! - the pics are GRREAT!! I love them all (THANKS EVERYONE WHO IMMORTALIZED THE GATHERING ON FILM!)!!!

CCWF - I'm such a chucklehead!!! - I think I spoke to you but may not have acknowledged your being the Legendary CCWF -Administrator-at-Large!! Bless you for the work you and nchristi do in keeping this family together!

LURKER!!!! - QUIT THAT THAR LURKIN' and start TYPIN'!!!!! I KNOW you've got a ton of things to say, and it's so AWESOME you came!!, You're SO GROOVY, so LET US HEAR THEM!!!!!!

Smoochie - I'm NOT pulling your leg, I promise!! I spoke to my husband today about it. He said it seems like it should work! I'm gonna go and see what dvds will cost wholesale style. The drama wil not re-air until the two that aired prior to it are finished rebroadcasting. So, that will take several months, unfortunately. So, we'll see how it goes!! I'll be back soon!

Have been waiting to see more of the pictures taken at the Saturday BB function. Now I can say that I should write all this in GREEN ink. I know envy is sinful but I think you must have had such a wonderful time getting together. ....... I loved all the postings and the photos were wonderful.
It is rather a shame that the people who put the drama together can not know all about the BB family. they would surely be surprised and pleased at all the interest and devotion which has been shown on this website.

This is certainly a very close knit group but it is not just for the Bizarre Bunch is it... we do have a link with one another that carries through all sorts of subjects and all because we are the Bizarre Kdrama Bunch.

Something funny happened to me after the pictures were out. I got a message from my high school friend whom I had not seen for quite a while, she said she saw my pictures on the internet and said 'are you patiently'?

It turned out that she's a lurker and I am trying to talk her into joining the family.

We will meet for dinner next week and we'll talk about BB and this family for sure.

All of you that are lurking-please join in commenting on any upcoming dramas you are watching. It's not too late to add something about BB . It's not over yet-for us.The more the better-right? This board could become awfully stale without new and fresh thought inspiring ideas.

Anyong Haseyo! Good morning BB!

Did you feel empty last nite without my Suky and Jongnam-ah, saintly Minsook, nasty Nara, useless Jaeman, silly Okdoo, chattering Yujing, pretending-to-be-cold-but-with-soft-heart Byungdo, and the rest of the Chang family? emoticon

I was glad that I have a new dvd to watch which filled the void in my time slot from 6pm to 9:50pm when "Jumong" started.

Nsheldon: I'm glad you're back. So, now you have access to a computer? I'm so worried that you'll not be able to login again so I offered to give you my spare computer. The offer is still good, if your access is just temporary. I'll wait until the end of this month for you to tell me, otherwise, I'll donate it to a local school.

Patiently: You know, I was a little bit wary posting our pictures on the net for fear that some of you guys might want to be anonymous to the whole world. But it turned out that you regain a long lost friend. That's amazing! emoticon

Tankerspark: I agree with you that the Food Court at Koreatown Plaza is way too noisy for a meeting like ours. There are several K-restaurants in that area where they offer private rooms/booth for dining. We have dined in one but I couldn't remember the name right now. It's a little bit expensive because there's "ambience" but once every six months is not too bad a deal.

I had so much fun doing the pictures and that's enough rewards for me. But for you to appreciate and like it, that's doubling it. emoticon

Have a good "cool" day in this "hot" California weather. Like the Koreans say, "kung cang haseyo, manye muko" (take care of your health, eat a lot). emoticon emoticon

Yes, your point in well taken, Peg. I would add one thought: We have a link, foremost, because we are members of the CJK family, not just K-drama family. While there is a special, intimate connection within the "BB Family," it is only a part of the greater family, CJK.

I would also like to mention that while we are grateful to ccwf for his abundant and overflowing creative talents and devotion to keeping CJKDramas both "cutting edge" and afloat, this board would not exist had it not been created and maintained by creidesca. We owe our continuing thanks to her, as well. Without creidesca, none of us would be here now.

Since I was not one of the early members I really did not know that creidesca was the originator of this website. I applaud her for all of the content and skills shown here. I could never begin to think of how to start up a site.
I do know that creidesca has helped me whenever I have asked a question and she is truly a treasure trove for someone like me who is getting a bit mushy in the brain cells. Not everyone on some other sites is so kind............

We definitely have a wide range of interests here and we are well served with the different sections and varied subjects covered. Maybe we should consider ourselves CJK Incorporated Family.....=).

All I can say is there are some AMAZING people on this board. People who created this board and the people who've maintained it. People who have contributed greatly to giving instruction and aid to other posters. What would many of us do without you? And all the posters... What a great group!

I had someone here at work ask me how I'm coping now that I don't have BB (and Hometown Station).. She watches occasionally. Not addicted as me...

Good evening ,BBfamily

Thanks funniegirlie, for that !! emoticon I will contact CGE .

thank you ,nsheldon ,I got your email . I am glad we are all in the loop .

I think we are all sensitive to the fact that this board took a lot of work ,and we are all grateful for that . We just got to meet Charles ,so it was nice to have a name and a real face to compliment for all the hard work !

The BB family is part of the larger CJK group of course ....but we will always be the BB family because this is how WE started .This family is not exclusive ..any one who wants to join us is welcome !!

I would like to give a shout out for a way for us all to support this board . Have you noticed the word "Premium" under my name . It costs $10/yr ,and nobody has to do it ... I did it because I knew I would need larger post capability for my recaps . A really cool benefit is larger INBOX capacity plus ,I am notified if I have any PMs by a small # next to 'Inbox ". It will also take up to 50 pms. Just a thought ,people !

At the next family gathering ,maybe creidesca could come - I certainly hope more admins do !! That would be great !

Emceema ,yes ,I miss "our Suky,Jongnam ,Kiwoong,Haein,Minsook,Byundoo ,Yujing,Gram "(it may take a few more days before I get to Nara ,Jaeman etc ) but I have to say that Saturday's gathering helped me alot . I knew then that we all weren't going anywhere..and that was a relief !

I also realized that I have a lot more exploring to do in Koreatown ,so I want to go back there soon !

bbfanxo ,thanks as always for the deleted scenes .Why they cut that one with Jongnam's flashback - I'll never know .....but thanks to ducky1964 ,we can see it . Please ,everyone ,follow the link- it's a couple pages back .

Smoochie has a point ...I was thinking that we may all be discussing this again in the not so distant future as we (hopefully ) obtain DVD"S .

Let's use this site as a meeting place BB family . We don't have a new drama to follow yet . I guess when we finally get one, we will appreciate it more. emoticon

I am not real happy with the BB replacement show. I wonder how long it's going to be on? I love learning about the K culture but I thought they would be doing a different area and different people each nite. They (so far) are concentrating on this one couple. It's just odd that after so many dramas they are doing a documentary type show in this time slot.

I've looked several times at the pictures of all of you at the gathering. What a great group. Shows what a strong bond these Kdramas can form with people. People come together and are friends because of watching the same show. You know, some people wouldn't understand that. I mean, would anyone have the desire to meet one another if this were 'All My Children' or 'One Life to Live' we were watching? I think not.

Anyong Haseyo! Good Morning BB!

Last nite was my 2nd "TBB-less" nite and I have finished watching "To Marry a Millionaire". I found myself flipping the channel of my bedroom TV back and forth to Channel 44 and 18 from 8:30 to 9pm. I expected to see my Suky, Jongnam-ah and Bitna playing in the yard in those swings that Nara bought. I imagine a scenario full of Chang family laughing, eating and Nara and Jaeman holding hands.............what? I was hallucinating! I grabbed the remote, flipped to Channel 110 (The Food Network) and watched Emirel play with food for 30 minutes. I tell you, this BB addiction is really hard to shake off. emoticon

Addie04: I am with you about supporting CJK Board. I became a premium user because I was having too much fun for free and I was thinking of the people behind the scene who toil everyday to keep this Board afloat in cyberspace. It must have cost them money, energy and lots of brain cells to keep us cyberloggers and cyberlurkers happy. I remember that time when this Board vanished and I couldn't access. I was panicky and blaming the admins for taking off my fun place.

I want to apologize for even thinking that and I promise you that I will continue to support this Board by being a premium user and utilize your ads when buying flowers, giftbaskets, ordering dvds, or booking Vegas Vacations. emoticon

Yes, nSheldon, you are so right. I have stopped telling friends about the meeting because they just could not understand. But for me, I found so many people who have the same passion as I do for BB and that feeling was just so good.

Whatever the new one is, it'll never be the same as BB.

Regarding the meeting, as my sons would say: It was AWESOME Dude!!! But time went by sooo fast! I wanted to spend at least a few minutes with everyone one on one, but it didn happen. There were still so many questions, comments, and ideas I wanted to talk to everyone about? I have to be satisfied with the fact that I did spend some time with friends and family enjoying good food, drink, and conversation, although it was waaay too short. And, The MAN HIMSELF was there! ccwf (Charles) graced us with his presence! I hope all of you reading this forum know that without his auspice, this and the other CKJ forums wouldn exist! Of course there are others who contribute to this success, there the legendary creidesca, nchristi,?too many to list them all, but we all owe them a great big THANK YOU! I hope some of them go to our get-togethers so we may thank them in person.
And, for those of you that did not attend?. Do not believe the tabloids! Don believe any rumors about us dancing on the tabletops, or ?. as our slogan says, What happens in the BB family, stays in the BB family. uff said.
I did take pictures, or rather my wife Diana did, but most duplicated all the wonderful images we have already seen from some of the other attendees. And the others?well, just remember our slogan.
I do have a group picture in PDF format that has most of the attendees in it, along with their screen name and eal?name. It fills an 8.5 x 11 in. page nicely and should print on about any printer without adjustment. But, PDF is not one of the supported upload formats. I can e-mail it as an attachment; just let me know the e-mail address. It less than 128KB.
Well, Il close this marathon post, but Il be checking in here every so often to see how the BB family is doing. Let keep in touch. My quarter's worth.

My friend ,you sure hit the nail on the head ....we became a family as we watched the Chang's . I'll always laugh about our plots to do in Narazilla , the speeding Suburban ,hummer or whatever we could get out hands on .It was cool to come on here and laugh with the family .. emoticon

I too really had a great time last Saturday .As far as I'm concerned ,the next one should be sooner rather than later .

[

Aprilnyc - wouldn't it be wonderful if we were all on the same schedule ? It would be a dream come true for this board .

Emceema - you sure watched that series fast ! Was it good ? You should join us in the Kdrama video club !

I think I'll KBS one of these days and ask them when "Pure 19 " starts .

Smoochie - I don't think I will ever have a "been there & done that" Attitude when it comes to Bizarre Bunch . Where else would you go to talk about it ? I am NOT done talking about it.I am thinking about so many wonderful moments in the series . I haven't really discussed the last week..I am still digesting it .

I am like patiently ,though . The sooner we get the dvd's ,the better !! Then we'll start to talk about it again !!

It's funny ..I have told a lot of people about our meeting on Saturday .Someone suggested that we could write a book about this board ,and the closeness that evolved .....

Some people don't understand why I am fascinated with K dramas....If I could get them to sit down and watch a few ,they would be hooked too !!

Addie04... It's funny. Being addicted to Kdramas isn't something that can be explained. I have a friend staying w/me for a while. She gets up and goes to her room as soon as my Kshows start. I told her she would be hooked if she would just watch a few episodes.

My entire family, all my friends... they can't understand the connection, or whatever it is, that I have with these shows. It really isn't something you can make another understand. It's just something that came about accidentally.

Mine started many many years ago. There was no cable tv then. I probably found it on KCET. Channel 28 around here. It was a Japanese film, w/Eng subs. I was facinated by it.

Then nothing for years and years. About 10 or 12 years ago I came across another asian show. This one was Korean. I didn't realize it was on each nite... OR that it had an ending. So I only watched periodically and missed the last few shows. To this day I wonder how it ended.

After that, I just stuck like glue to the shows and found out the days/hours of the one I was watching.

Then a friend at work told me about this board. She watches the Japanese dramas but told me the board also had discussions on Chinese and Korean programs. Anyway, that's how I found my way to Korean Drama Heaven!

Oh, I have been watching the 'Screening Humanity'... I am glad it is going to show different aspects of Korean life. Last nite was the girl who wants to be a singer. She is half Korean (by her mother), who had divorced the girls father when the girl was only 3 yrs old. The father was black. The girl looks more black than Korean. She has a step father (Korean) who she loves as her own father. He loves her as his own child. Very strong loving family...

It's like getting an education on Korean Culture....
class blockquote hyena wrote:

I haven't been watching Screening Humanity, except for bits and pieces. In a way, it's good to have a break from TV watching. At one time during BB, I was watching 4 dramas (like emceema) bouncing around like a yo-yo.

I have spent an incredible amount of time trying to figure out why I watch these. I do love learning new things so that's part of it. I do like the less than overt emoticon sex as a general rule. What's funny is that I kept wishing the lovers, in whichever drama, would actually kiss or at least hug each other. In this season alone, I've seen more kisses than in all the years I've been watching, and I don't know that I like the trend! Contradictory and inconsistent as usual, that's me. But other than figuring out a few points like that, I have not been able to figure out what draws me to these dramas. I never became hooked on US soaps, but I have friends who did and still are. Even when I don't become hooked on a specific drama, I still prefer watching Asian programming to US programming.

Yes, this board would not exist without creidesca. We are deeply indebted to her. (I think I credited creidesca in my main speech at the get-together, but it might have been in the subsequent Q&A.)

If no one objects, I would like to re-post the get-together images in a separate, BB-spoiler-free topic (and maybe some of the surrounding discussion) so that those still watching BB (our Philly friends) and other board members can easily see and read about our get-together. emoticon

We have not started a new drama yet .KBSLA is showing a documentary series called Screening Humanity . We are in the throes of BB withdrawal ,and may have to start cyber 12 step meetings soon.LOL emoticon

I'm glad this thread is still active !!

Ccwf ,whatever with the pictures ,but doesn't Philly have their own board ?? I should know - the only time I lurked was the day our board was down ,and I went all over the country and the world looking for BB sites ....and I learned that our board was simply - the best .

At the BB family meeting ,we shared " how I got hooked on Kdrama "stories . For the benefit of people that weren't there that day : here is my story .

I was in Hawaii 2 years ago visiting family . I was on the North Shore of Oahu ,and it was evening .My young niece needed to rest , and we turned on the TV . We were surfing channels , and "Sweet 18 " was on . I was instantly hooked . I found out the DVD's were available ,and ordered them from a payphone in the airport .
When I got home to LA ,I surfed the cable til I found KBSLA. I have been watching the 8:30 daily - MSMD ,and now BB. I found this board at the end of MSMD . I wouldn't have missed watching BB with you all for the world . Since I have been seeing a few more series ...but I am still a relative newbie . emoticon

In the beginning of BB , I got hooked because of the character of Kiwoong . I always cared what happened to him ...
That is hilarious comparing Gram to Gollum- but I don't think she is thin enough !!

Good night emoticon emoticon

ps ashwini - we always respected differences of opinion( you didn't like the music ?) emoticon
class blockquote hyena wrote:

Welcome, ashwini, and to your mom and aunt, too. addie, I think I mentioned that I got hooked on asian drama when I got a new TV, and the korean channels came in the clearest. I don't have cable or anything fancy--a 13 inch color TV, that's it!, although I now have two TVs--one to watch, and one connected to a DVD player that I hacked so I can watch Region 2 and 3 DVDs. Imagine, I did that, and I was so dumb with the clicker that my sister had to set up the TV for me. Well, I do learn.

My best story, though, is this. My sister and I (Czech-German descent) were attending a Hindu wedding. At our table was a neighbor, another Hindu lady. Turns out she was a kdrama addict like me. My sister, who thinks I'm nuts regardless, thought it hilarious that she was attending such a wedding and the talk around her was about korean drama! Gee, that was fun. My neighbor had been in India and had missed a several episodes, so I was filling her in. I think that's one of the things that attracts me--the mix of cultures and that korean dramas are welcomed in so many places (Winter Sonata was broadcast in Egypt where it was a big hit).

I know you guys want BB on DVD. What I would like is Mushashi on DVD. Geez, I loved that program. Got me started on kabuki, which I was lucky enough to see last year. Exquisite. I went twice to a 4-night performance. I should have gone all four nights. Dumb.

Sorry, I'm talking to much about everything but BB. Very bad day for me, so it's good to come here to be with you guys.

ashwini, the music was a bit treacly, but that's sorta typical. I have become a huge fan of the music on these dramas, especially some of the singers. I learned to sing along with some of the songs. I don't know exactly what I'm saying but I've listened so much, I certainly know the words. emoticon
class blockquote smoochie1 wrote:

I started watching KDrama near the end of MSMD. I was channel surfing as usual, because of the terrible selection on broadcast TV and came across this drama and kept watching. I've always loved foreign films (subtitled of course), Italian, French and now Korean. I've been watching BB since the first episode. I enjoy seeing how other cultures live and interplay as a family. I've already incorporated one thing into my home, no shoes. My family now has slippers waiting at the door. Even my 2 year old grandaughter puts her's on. Of course that's a very small thing compared to all else. Now if I could get all of them to bow to me, well that would be something!!

Smoochie.. I quit wearing shoes in the house too. And I learned that from Kdramas!! I have a friend who has been staying with me for a few months. I won't let her wear shoes in the house either. When her boyfriend comes over to pick her up, she makes him take his shoes off!! It's a great, clean custom... I keep telling myself.. whatever I'm stepping on outside will be brought inside...

Well, I need a cup of coffee. Gonna walk to Carl's Jr (next door to my job) and get me one!

I just want to say how much I've enjoyed watching this drama with all of you. This site has made it so much more fun and so much more exciting as we've watched it "together". Thank you.

WHEW! Can anybody teach me how to post multiple pictures? I have to upload it one at a time, copying URLs and pasting it. Is there anyway to batch this and copy & paste URL just once?
There's no way to do it through a web interface, but ImageShack has a little application you can download from their site that lets you upload a directory of pictures up to them.

[ccwf/Charles] was kind enouf to do a breif Q and A about the board but with the nosie level it was kind of hard. I hope he will join us again with nchriste and nsheldon as well.
Some have asked what I talked about. Unfortunately, I've waited too long to post this, so I don't remember most of it. But here are a few of the things I talked about (with the whole group in my presentation or with individual members): class ul class li History of the board, from creidesca starting it and its early problems to reaching 10,000 pageviews/day recently class li Watching Jackie Chan movies in the theater when I was a child (Drunken Master, Snake in the Eagle's Shadow, …) class li Reminiscing with members about some of the older Korean dramas like 18-year Old Bride, Match Made in Heaven, class li Policy regarding use of the name “CJKDramas.com” (I pay for and control the domain but members should feel free to use it, so long as it isn't abused) class li Relationship between our CJKDramas.com board and other regional Asian drama boards class li Relationship between our CJKDramas.com board and Runboard class li KBS's hallyu special last year, which featured one of our members and our K-Drama Links class li The new Trading Post I'm trying to establish to let members trade DVDs with one another (since buying DVDs can be quite expensive) class li Region-free/multiregional DVD players (the DVD store in the plaza had a special on such DVD players that day: $25 or $50 each) class li the calendar, and the fact that it hasn't been kept up-to-date

More: class ul class li Q: What should members do about abusive posts/posters?
A: Report them to the moderators! That's what we're here for.
class li Q: Do I read and moderate all the topics myself? Do moderators have to read all the topics?
A: No, the board has grown way too large for any individual to keep up with all the posts. The moderators monitor different areas of the site, and members are encouraged to report problems to the moderators rather than assuming we already know about them.

Re: Post up your personal pictures here!

after reading your posts about your kdrama (BB family) gathering, I was smiling inside. Your closeness, openness and affection for one another is evidence of the wonderful humanitarian benefits these dramas are giving to many people of various cultures, ages, etc. I wonder if the writers, producers, actors, etc. are aware of the deeper affect their work is having on society. they should. Your lives have all been touched in such wonderful ways and I feel so priviledged to witness it and hopefully be included in your "family"

curly carrot emoticon
The moment you jumped in and posted the first time you became "family". But be aware we are all opinionated, very opinionated. emoticon But the good news is that even though our views may sometimes differ we're respectful of each other, that's the great part.
I don't know what I'd do without this family after all of this time. Watching Kdrama alone is no fun. emoticon
So welcome , curly carrot. Post often and share. That's what we're all here for.
Later emoticon

A lot of the earlier photos are not working.l Is it because the pictures have been removed by the user?

Re: Post up your personal pictures here!

oh my gosh it's been years since anyone else has posted their pictures! The BB gathering looked so interesting also! Lots of people that I wouldn't have imagined were watching kdramas at first glance. Looks like so much fun. Also, it looks like Music Plaza was moved floors since that meeting. Would anyone else like to post their pic? I'm not brave enough at all for that. emoticon
