Fabulous Alice Sketch by Rezo
class center Rezo writes: class blockquote The Alice pic took... around 9 hours to draw, I think. I remember that thanks to my obsessive habit of mentally keeping track of how long I work on something.

!
I'm glad you guys liked the drawing.
The japanese drawing was inspired by Abarenbo Shogun. One of the ninjas in the first season wore that hat all of the time and carried around a shamisen.

hey hey
The setting was similar to a Taiga drama, but the show wasn't one. It was closer to... something like Hercules or Xena or something. It ran for over 20 years and in each episode that Shogun was secretly spend time among the commoners and... fight crime. Each episode ended the exact same way, with it being revealed that the criminals were also involved with a corrupt government official of some sort, and then the fighting shogun would show up and say "don't you recognize me?" and then it zooms in on his face, the bad guy says "the shogun would never come here! kill him!" and then the shogun beats down 30 or so people with the blunt part of his sword. Every single episode, just about, and there were almost 1000 episodes.
In Trick, it's Yamada Naoko's favorite show. She mentions it all of the time. The guy that played the Shogun also plays Yoshitsune in the recent Taiga drama.

Re: Striking Pictures
Thanks for the info, rezo. Yes, I remember in Trick, Naoko would always mention "Abarenbo Shogun." Takizawa Hideaki played the shogun?

Haha, no. That was my mistake. The guy that played Abarenbo Shogun is Matsudaira Ken. He plays "Musashibo Benkei". (I haven't seen Yoshitsune since I'm... never in California, so I just assumed that he had the main role when I read about it a long time ago)
