Re: HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
Been a long day, today. Just finished taking the pumpkin custard pie out of the oven. Have all the ingredients assembled in the kitchen, ready for attack tomorrow. Waldorf Salad; turkey and dressing; green beans with chopped onions and mushroom soup; mashed potatoes and gravy; orange jello salad with shredded carrots, crushed pineapple, and raisins; celery stuffed with cream cheese; black olives; dinner rolls; whole cranberry sauce. Only thing missing is candied yams (and all of you! )

Re: HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
Turkey with sea cucumbers. Now there‛s a real East meets West Thanksgiving!
My West meets West event was, well...an experience. Food was great, a good time had by the vast crowd of three (better than the gang of four...[are they all dead now?].)
I about had cardiac arrest a couple times, watching the guys do things the way only bachelors can do things--like applying the "5-second rule." (If it falls on the floor, it‛s ok to use if you snatch it back in 5-seconds or less!) Good training session for me in how to let go, how to relax and let others take control--and all that other fun stuff.
I knew in advance what I was in for, and even though we ended up one and half hours late, everything was delicious and they were especially proud (as was I) of the fruits of their labors (a good thing). One of the most rewarding aspects for me was to see their new-found appreciation for trying to coordinate a cooking effort a little more complicated than pressing a microwave start button.
The highlight of the day was one of them carrying the turkey to the table, beside himself with pride. My first turkey! he declared, with all the beaming pride of a new father holding forth his firstborn. We all had a hearty laugh. Then dug in! It was a great moment.
So, now it‛s over and here I am wide awake at 4a. Probably too much sugar--which I‛m not used to. That can really wire me. I packed up large "care packages" for each of the guys to take home. They‛ll love the leftovers of their day, plus I won‛t have to deal with all that. Tomorrow (in a few hours? ) I‛ll take the carcass and simmer it for 4-5 hours for soup. I‛m a big vegetable soup fan so this will provide a good base. And it‛s cold now--soup weather. Hope I‛m not coming down with something--I feel too cold, like to the bone. Not a good sign. On the other hand, I haven‛t had a cold for years, nor the flu for many more years, so I‛ll hit the beta carotene and knock this out, too, before it gets a hold on me.

Re: HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
hyunkyu -- soooo, did you like your Thanksgiving feast this yr?
Hope you all enjoyed a good one.
nchristi, like the saying goes, 'good food, good friends...good times' . your dinner menu brings back memories! Now ... about that " 5 - Second Rule ", where did the saying originate? I've noticed it is certainly making the rounds and heard it recently on Belushi's TV sitcom. Can I blame him?
P.S. I guess some instances may be applicable . . . No, I take that back
