Re: Events!

Interesting article, Peggy-san! Thanks for sharing. I had seen last week on NHK News that the Chinese were successful in getting their astronauts into space, so I guess this is the landing. Interesting that they arranged to have their astronauts land on Mongolian soil instead of on Chinese soil. Maybe it's because it's safer for them to land in Mongolia, where the population is a lot less denser, and so there's less risk of causing a lot of damage is something goes wrong? Hmm.

Re: Events!

Greg san, :-)

Well there is an awful lot of empty land in Inner Mongolia and it is pretty flat scrubby desert. That is a safer landing ground I suppose. It was quite a bump and lots of dust but it really did not drag very far once it landed.
Apparently the Chinese have a plan to build another space station up there so somehow there will always be someone out in space.

Yes, that's true. I guess it was easier (and less risky) for them to land somewhere that is far away from urban centers and people's homes.

Re: Events!

Just wanted to make a note here that this year's annual Nisei Week festival in Little Tokyo will be broadcast live on Channel 18.2/UTB on Sunday, August 12th, from 5:00p to 7:00p.

More information is available at their website, located here.

If anyone is unable to go to the parade this year, it's great that you can also watch it live on TV!

(I've also created a topic for other special summer programming on 18.2/UTB in the J-forum.)
