AZN, now censored
Gah. First, the most recent showing of Bae Yong-joon's movie Untold Scandal this week was censored. (It's original showing on AZN was uncensored.) Now, tonight's showing of Project A-ko has the same giant squares. I guess AZN's campaign proclaiming themselves the place to watch “movies the way you were meant to see them: raw, adult, and blackbar-free” is over.

Re: AZN TV Announcements
Fans with broadband Internet connections can now watch My Lovely Sam-soon for free (with subs) on AZN's web site, azntv.com. Quality looks decent (especially considering that it's free and subbed). Video streams smoothly. Compare this actual screenshot of AZN's streaming video
with this one from LA-18's broadcast

Re: AZN TV Announcements
Wow...this sounds so good!! thanks for the heads up.
Only question...why do some sites need so much of our personal information?
I mean.. Why not ask if we are over 21? Why do they really need actual ages and where does all this inf. go?
Just wondering.

The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), enacted in 2000, requires parental consent before getting personal information from children under thirteen, requires disclosing such information to parents once collected, requires special handling to ensure privacy of such information, and so forth.
Consequently, almost all boards and many other web sites now have disclaimers saying their sites are not meant for those under thirteen. The reason for asking for your birthday is to ensure you're thirteen or older. The information goes into the company's records so that if they are ever sued using COPPA, they can trot out those records to show your age.

Of the Asian horror movies showing for Halloween, I would recommend the Ju-on series (Ju-on, The Grudge) and Dark Water (directed by Nakata, Hideo, who also directed the Ringu series including The Ring Two and Chaos).Ooh, AZN TV is giving us a treat on Halloween. From 6–9pm, they're showing the original Ju-on and Ju-on 2 movies. These have never before been shown in the U.S. in theaters or on TV. They're the ones that started the franchise and were followed by Ju-on: The Grudge (the one on Showtime and The Movie Channel above), The Grudge (on HBO), and The Grudge 2 (now in movie theaters). Those who've seen The Grudge with Sarah Michelle Gellar will have seen its brief recap of the story of the original movie (since American audiences couldn't be expected to have seen it).

Re: AZN TV Announcements
If the listings AZN has sent out to the listings services are correct (they're not up on AZN's own web site), it looks like AZN is overhauling its schedule.
They'll still have Japanese dramas Dr. Coto's Clinic Sundays at 7pm and Nodame Kantabile Sundays at 8pm.
There's a slew of new weekday Chinese dramas. Premiering Jan 1st at 5am and noon is The Handsome Siblings. At 8:30am is Drunken Kung Fu. Biggest news of all, at 4pm, 7:30pm, and 11pm weekdays and 7–9am Sundays is Mars, which our members loved when it showed on LA-18.
Weekdays at 6pm and 9:30pm, the acclaimed Korean drama My Lovely Sam-Soon re-airs.
Weekdays at 9pm and 12:30am, the anime The World of Narue starts again.
Also starting weekdays at 3:30pm is the series Hardball, but I can't tell whether or not it's a CJK drama.
Also, this Saturday's CJK movie is “Big Shot's Funeral” with Donald Sutherland: class blockquote (2001) Ge You, Rosamund Kwan, Donald Sutherland, Ying Da. A renowned filmmaker befriends a cameraman and embraces Buddhism while making a movie in China.Sunday is a re-airing of Zhang Yimou's xml:lang zh-CN 我的父亲母亲 (The Road Home) with Zhang Ziyi. Next week's Thursday CJK movie is Mirror Image

Re: AZN TV Announcements
OK, most of the additions and schedule changes above are now also advertised on AZN's web site, so I guess they're official.
Additions and corrections: class center class p Mars is only on Mondays and Tuesdays, not every weekday. It is in Mandarin and will have English subs. class center class p The Handsome Siblings is in Cantonese with English subs. (This will be AZN's first Cantonese series since they became AZN, I think.) class center class p Drunken Kung Fu is in unsubbed Vietnamese. class p clear Finally, Hardball is sports news and not a drama.
