Here are the Korean dramas we have so far for 2006 -

Secret
Emperor of the Sea
Winter Sonata
Full House

repeating Jewel in the Palace.

As always, with any television network, these are subject to change. so I'm not going to promise these will air, but this is what we have so far.

Search for “Asian Wave: Summer of Hallyu”, and you'll find the info I have so far. As I read the info, All About Eve will only be available on-line: they haven't promised to air it.

As for Full House, Gary posted last year that they would be airing that.

In addition to this “Asian Wave: Summer of Hallyu”, AZN has also been running commercials plugging that they are showing award-winning films from famous Asian directors each Thursday and Saturday.

Re: AZN TV Announcements

Here are a few more details about AZN's Summer of Hallyu from two different websites:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
CYNTHIA TURNER'S
Cynopsis: MCE
07/17/06

ASIAN/INDIAN MARKET:

Starting August 1, AZN Television will offer fully-interactive streaming content on its website (www.azntv.com). To kick off the service, AZN will provide exclusive content as part of the network's programming and marketing campaign called "Asian Wave: Summer of Hallyu." The first episode of Korean drama My Lovely Sam-Soon will premiere on azntv.com two weeks before it airs on the linear channel. The full series All About Eve will also be available exclusively online starting in September. Other programming such as interviews, music videos and more will be available on the site as well.
---------------------------------------------------------

AZN Television will become one of the first cable channels to offer viewers free streaming episodes on its website, azntv.com, on August 1.

The website will first feature the highest-rated 2005 drama in Korea, My Lovely Sam-Soon, before airing it on the channel two weeks later. The full series of All About Eve will be available exclusively on the website, September 5.

The online video launch is in conjunction with the channel’s “Asian Wave: Summer of Hallyu” program festival. Hallyu is Korean for the international craze over Korean dramas, which the channel will feature through September.

AZN Television is also planning to further enhance its website to showcase Asian American talent by allowing viewers to upload their own videos for anyone to see.

“After the International Channel: AZN Narrows Its Audience and Widens Its Flaws”

Excerpts from the New York Times: class blockquote WHEN the International Channel, which aimed to appeal to all immigrants, switched its format and its name to become AZN TV and focused on Asian and Asian-American culture, the idea was simple: Narrow it down. The change, which Comcast undertook in March 2005, came initially with the promise of new and more diverse original programming for that audience.

But the channel’s actual evolution has been fraught.

Approximately half of the channel’s employees — primarily those on the creative side — were laid off last fall, and it appears to be in a holding pattern, rotating a limited program mix and often airing reruns that are two or more years old. Among the offerings that seem not quite ready for prime time are “Achar!,” a Singaporean sitcom about an interracial (Chinese-Indian) couple featuring the Bollywood star Jas Arora, and “Asia Street Comedy,” […]

Still, many of these offerings deserve airtime. There are Thai pop videos, B-list Bollywood films and several Asian news programs (without subtitles). AZN rebroadcasts “Winter Sonata,” a moody Korean soap opera with a rabid following that looks as if it were filmed through a sheet of tissue paper. And then there’s the consistently engaging “Cinema AZN,” a weekly newsmagazine devoted to Asian film that is one of the network’s few original productions. It has featured segments on the sublime Korean actress Bae Doona and the Hong Kong martial arts star turned 90’s American television cop Sammo Hung. […]

Generally AZN excels at magazine-style news programming, on subjects ranging from the unacknowledged contribution of Chinese-Canadian soldiers in World War II to Japan’s Kamakura festival (where young children build several hundred small snow houses) to Jackie Chan, who in a surprisingly far-reaching interview said that as a young man he took up cooking to satisfy his disapproving father.

In September AZN will begin broadcasting a documentary series that follows four Asian-American high school students as they navigate the college application process. It is the only new, original program currently scheduled for the channel […]
