Is anyone watching this drama? I caught a few so far and I quite like it. I missed a few parts here and there, so I'm a little bit confused with the characters. I saw a few veterans and familiar faces...looking forward to the drama.

Since I have been faithfully watching the Historical drama 'Queen Insoo' for some time, and still totally engrossed with the history, I looked in on this Jang Ok story a couple of times and it is truly impossible to put the two together. This Jang Ok seems very sketchy in history. I didn't know that the lady Yoon even had a daughter. I thought she had a son who later became the King. He also was shown as the mad King in the film 'The King and the Clown'.
The Joseon era gets so many different expressions from various writers and directors. Some of the dramas that come to us should not be called historical at all I think. Much too far removed from the real history.
In the drama 'Queen Insoo' the Lady Yoon is at the moment much in disfavour but she is pregnant it seems with a second child, so they can't exactly make her disappear. Maybe this will be the daughter that we now see in Jang Ok.
I will say I prefer the young King in 'Queen Insoo' rather than the Crown Prince, later King, in Jang Ok.

Missed a few episodes of this drama. However, would love to read up on The Joseon's era since it seems to be featured in a number of historical dramas. Is there any English publication that is generally accepted as historically accurate?
Thx!

2edgy,
It's fairly easy to google this subject. try entering Joseon history or Joseon royal line and you should find lots of details that will be of great interest.

Zedgy, Don't expect too much accuracy when it involves the romance using young actors who might be popular with the young set. The history tends to get lost with the popularity and the promotion of the actors.
