Re: K-Drama: 웃어라 동해야 (Smile Again / Smile Donghae)

The only scene that was cut (that may have been nice to see) was James and Donghae having a conversation at the beach. James tells him this is the town he was born in and that he had always promised Anna to bring her here. He said then he wanted to bring Donghae... the name Donghae was from this town of James' birth. Donghae is fighting his emotions being with James and thats when he took off to get medicine for baby boy's hangover.

Seems everything is falling apart for Ms. CEO. It made me mad that she was so angry with her assistant. Yes, he does work for her... but Mr. Hotel gramps is the owner and that assistant ultimately works for him. She did that before with this guy... Dojin was missing and she demanded the assistant find him.. She told him it was HIS fault if Dojin wasn't found. You can't find your own son but it's the assistants fault if he can't find him?

Even Saewa got on her knees to beg and tell gramps that the JJ Home Shopping mess was only her doing. But Ms. CEO let gramps put all the blame on Dojin for HER ending the contract with Taebong Kimchi (because of HER personal hatred of Anna and Donghae).

So sweet to watch Anna with Piljae's daughter. I'm not giving up on this couple! She would be a perfect mother for that little girl... Also wanted to mention how much I've enjoyed that little actress' performance. She's been so much fun to watch.

FINALLY... Anna gets a call that her bio parents are looking for her!!!!

FINALLY... The RED dress was found and presented to Ms. CEO's face... "How did my daughter's dress get in YOUR closet!"

Monday should be fun..

Hye Suk should not blame Kim Jun for telling the Chos that Dong Baek is alive. Ultimately it was Hye Suk who first told the the Chos. KimJun waited for his wife to do the right thing and eventually she did.

Re: K-Drama: 웃어라 동해야 (Smile Again / Smile Donghae)

Quite behind on all my K-Drama viewing in the last week or two... recently watched Friday night's episode and I must say, I enjoyed all the twists and turns. One of my posts a bit ago, I felt the week prior or week ago felt a bit draggy, but last week's episodes really have the plots moving along now.

For all the flaws and frustrations of this series and dragging out the story to a longer format than it should be, I find myself still hooked and whenever I just want to watch some entertaining after a long day, I usually look for this show on my DVR first and foremost.

The walls are closing in on Mrs. CEO from all directions - everyone is getting onto the truth. Like many of you, I have really enjoyed watching the evil triplets very humbled this week. emoticon Justice is being served... well, at least a semi-partially. LOL

I keep getting a sneaking suspicion that Anna and Donghae being the kind people they are, won't want anything to do with kicking out Mrs. CEO/Dojin from the hotel business - I think Donghae will want to carve out his own career on his own and will recognize the hotel is Mrs. CEO's "life".... admirable, but if this happens... how will Mrs. CEO/Dojin really be punished for their misdeeds? Only speculation on my part though, it'll be interesting to see what actually unfolds.

The introduction of Taehun's friend is a welcome spice in the now boring (since its a long resolved relationship). I kind of wish they added his character earlier to make Bongi and Donghae's relationship not so finalized so early on. As many of you, I think the new guy and Yujin are a good pair.

James has become the hero this week on many levels. I'm glad to see him slowly getting out of his funk - on even one scene he reminded Donghae that he is his father, and did not let Donghae walk over him due to his guilt/silence/paralysis of late. Unfortunately, that did not carry over to Dojin, who once again goes into freak-out-baby-mode when he sees Donghae at the beach also - James let Dojin go on in that childish mode without putting his foot down.

One thing that came to mind last week though, too many scenes, Anna is still hung up on James; she scolded Donghae slightly when he got into his own brand of childish mode (he and Dojin really are brothers, LOL) and was overly concerned about James' health. Anna is still not showing the same level of concern for Piljae, and that relationship has stagnated recently since Piljae's White Knight mode some weeks ago. With only a month's worth of episodes, I wonder when or how or if she really will let go and move on, because she still seems to be want to be with James, if it weren't for the external pressure of others (status of Mrs. CEO being in the picture and Donghae's feelings).

The series ended on Friday, May 13, 2011 in South Korea. All episodes are already completed. A new series called "Our Women/The Women in Our House" starts today in South Korea. The new series has a lot of familiar faces from such series as "Gloria," "Happiness in the Wind," "Jolly Widows," "Creating Destiny," "My Pitiful Sister" and "First Love of a Royal Prince."

Re: K-Drama: 웃어라 동해야 (Smile Again / Smile Donghae)

WOW, things are sure moving fast now. I cannot believe Ms. CEO. She knows she can't continue with this lie but she tells James she will until she dies... or at least until she finally cried, pitying herself over possibly losing the hotel, and decides to go tell the truth (but of course she'll make herself look like the poor victim... "I couldn't tell you because Anna has already taken James from me"... so they old couple won't find out what a greedy witch she really is.

Gross guy seems to enjoy rubbing Donghae's face in it. I'm just not sure I can like him. He's just not cute about it like Yujin is. But he is cute... lol

Dojin leaves the beach, and Donghae standing there.. with no ride home. What an incredible big baby DJ is. I just cannot tolerate him. I wonder who I really dislike the most... him, his mother or his wife. They all are horrible.

Can't until the old couple and Anna/Donghae meet. I'm going crazy with anxiety.... maybe tonight?

Re: K-Drama: 웃어라 동해야 (Smile Again / Smile Donghae)

I don't know the exact reason, but Dojin is the one I can least tolerate. Maybe because he is physically violent and so full of spoiled, unreasonable hatred and resentment.

I sighed last night when James tells Donghae that no matter what happens, he must watch over Dojin. I suppose because Donghae is the older brother, he has to take care of his little brother. But James is right—Dojin is going to really flip out and have a hard time when he finds out that Crazy Anna and Donghae are the heirs to the hotel. If having Donghae as a half brother is so unbearable for Dojin, how on earth will he react to the BIG news?

I'll have to defend Mr. Gross. He is a little over-animated in his affections lately, but he is serious about winning Bongi away from Donghae (though it will never happen). I respect him for openly telling Donghae his intentions. Though they are competing, Gross still extends his hand in friendship and I'm sure he will step out of the picture when he believes he has no chance of winning.

I see that as a much different reaction from Yujin coming up behind Bongi and choking her in a head lock for not moving aside from Donghae, Yujin's man (in her mind). I like Yujin, though, because she can step outside her personal feelings and do what is right and helpful for Donghae and others. I feel the same away about Gross. He's coming on strong to Bongi but his friendship with Taehun and the family is still a bedrock of his being, one I can't see him betraying.

Well, whatever... To me Gross has been a wonderful breath of fresh air in this sometimes tiring Daily. I love seeing him on the screen. He lights it up.

I was very glad to see Mrs. CEO come to her senses, at least to the point where she realizes what a huge mistake it will be to allow someone else to inform the Cho's about Anna. Even though she has made serious mistakes, for some reason I feel sorry for Mrs. CEO on some level. I hope she can make a clean start and that the Cho's will continue their relationship with her.

I just can't believe how greedy the evil triplets are-all for the sake of a hotel??? The walls are closing in, and crumbling down on them...SuperRookie, you aptly described Dojin's behavior as a freak-out-baby-mode. nsheldon, I think you dislike all three of them-you just don't wanna admit it-hehehe---

Re: K-Drama: 웃어라 동해야 (Smile Again / Smile Donghae)

Glad to see you back Super Rookie, your posts are always informative. Because Mr. Gross is a man,I think he comes off as pushy and rude, while Yujin is just cheeky. What if Dojin tries to influence him about the future of the Hotel, something Yujin would never go in for.. Now we have to see if Mrs Ceo and Dojin go to such extremes to keep the Hotel, that they turn the Chos completely against them, and wind up losing everything.

Re: K-Drama: 웃어라 동해야 (Smile Again / Smile Donghae)

Sherlesin: Good point. I remember how Yujin wouldn't let Dojin (or anyone) influence her to do something she felt was wrong. But Gross guy may if he thinks it will land him Bongi... :O

I'm totally amazed at Ms. CEO and Saewa's utter devastation over the loss of the hotel. Their greed is so great that they are both falling apart thinking 'no more hotel for you'... They could care less that an old couple have spent 40 years desperate to locate a lost daughter... the only child they ever had.

When Dojin is in a scene I hate him the most.. If Ms. CEO is in the scene it's her I hate the most... ditto for Saewa. They truly are three greedy, childish, selfish, hateful people.

And why was is impossible for Ms. CEO to SAY anything when grandma and grandpa kept asking about their daughter? I would have strangled her for just standing there blubbering instead of answering my questions.

Gross guy.. how could he take that cake out of the box like that? Bongi told him it wasn't for him.

Deleted: Gross guy called his dad and during the conversation he told his dad he would be marrying Bongi. He said, "Yes Dad, you always said she'd be the one I would marry".

Can you imagine Saewa making one last desperate attempt at keeping Donghae away by begging him not to go into the agency? Then she collapsed on the street when he wouldn't obey her.

Deleted: Anna and Donghae are sleeping and you hear, "Anna ssi - Anna ssi" Anna gets up and goes to the courtyard where there is a huge heart of candles (or was it just red flowers?) and in the middle is Piljae holding a big bouquet of flowers. Anna steps inside the heart and Piljae gives her the flowers and tells her he loves her, and kisses her. She wakes up (dream) and starts smacking her own mouth saying, "I can't love someone else, I only can love James". Later, at breakfast everyone is chatting and Piljae says, "I've been having strange dreams". Anna is so flustered she jumps up and runs to her room.

Tomorrow we should see the re-connect between Anna and her parents. I wonder if seeing them as her parents will help her remember something from her childhood. It would be so nice if she could have a memory to share with them.
