subj: I'm Back!!

Hello, K-drama fans, after a LONG hiatus. glad to say that I'm back on K-drama watching again. Been quite a while since I checked out the forum but nice to see it hasn't changed.

As for the K-dramas on TV in the So Cal area, haven't really caught onto any one just yet but have gotten very interested in one on Youtube, which I'm following right now...The Promise! Anybody else heard of it or watching on Youtube?

It has got me hooked...so far...but notice it's not on the So Cal schedule. Probably, because it's a pretty new drama, I believe.

Anyway, sorry for disappearing like I did but nice to be back among K-drama land emoticon

Re: I'm back!! [Re: The Promise]

Hi Lex! Glad to see you back. emoticon

Here's a link to the KBS2 2016 Drama, The Promise." Is this the drama you're watching on YouTube?

If people have a KBS2 cable package, you should be able to watch it. If others would like to follow and discuss this drama, I will edit your first post to make it into the drama "front page."

In the meantime, here are some of the details from Asianwiki:

Drama: The Promise (English title) / Heaven's Promise (literal title)
    Revised romanization: Cheonsangui Yaksok
    Hangul: 천상의 약속
    Director: Jeon Woo-Sung
    Writer: Kim Yeon-Shin, Heo In-Moo
    Network: KBS2
    Episodes: 100
    Release Date: February 1, 2016 -
    Runtime: Mon-Fri. 19:50-20:25
    Language: Korean
    Country: South Korea

Plot

Na-Yeon (Lee Yu-Ri) is a bright woman. She supports her boyfriend Tae-Joon (Seo Jun-Young), who is from a poor background. Even though they have a daughter, Tae-Joon dumps her for his own success and goes with Se-Jin (Park Ha-Na). Se-Jin is the granddaughter of the President of Baekdoo Company.

Do-Hee (Lee Yu-Ri) is Na-Yeon’s twin sister. They have been separated since Do-Hee was adopted by a wealthy couple when she was an infant. Do-Hee now works as a reporter for a weekly magazine. For a story, Do-Hee investigates into the background of Tae-Joon. She discovers that she has a twin sister and Na-Yeon was dumped by Tae-Joon. Do-Hee also learns that Tae-Joon's mother got Na-Yeon hospitalized at a psychiatric hospital. Do-Hee visits Na-Yeon at the hospital, but a fire engulfs the hospital and Do-Hee dies. Na-Yeon then takes the identity of her twin sister.

Hi nchristi, thanks for the welcome back! emoticon

Yes, that is the K-drama I'm following right now...just completed the first 11 episodes on Youtube. Unfortunately, I don't think I have KBS2 on my cable system but prefer the unedited version on Youtube, anyway.

Yes, please edit my post into the drama "front page"...that way, I can discuss with other fans of "The Promise" emoticon

Lex!!!! Where have you been! lol

If you want to catch up with a super good, funny, fun drama, watch Five Children (aka Five Enough). It's a Sat/Sun drama. It's supposed to be 50 episodes. Best one they've done in quite a while.

Also enjoying Marriage Contract (16 episodes). Glad you're back. Missed your input.

Thanks for the welcome back, Nelli33 emoticon

No real reason for absence...just lost touch for a bit but nice to be back. Really enjoying The Promise on Youtube...will try to check out the weekend drama, as well as Marriage Contract. Thanks for the heads-up & hope you get a chance to see The Promise...it's truly "re-kindled" my interest in current K-dramas!

Not sure how many are following this drama but really interesting & fascinating...at least, to me emoticon

I'm following on Youtube & am up to episode 39...will just say that there are 2 women who give new meaning to the word "despicable" & can only hope that they get what's coming to them in the end!! Those who are following should know exactly who I'm talking about, lol.

Still, a long way to go & many more subplots ahead I'm sure!

Well, finally finished watching "The Promise" on Youtube...all 102 episodes & was satisfied with the ending. For obvious reasons, I won't reveal anything but hope all of you get a chance to watch this K-drama...one of my favorites in a LONG time...and enjoy it as much as I did. emoticon

Unfortunately, it might be seriously edited on KBS in the US but don't let that stop you from watching this great drama!
