Re: K-Drama: 지성이면 감천 (A Tale of Two Sisters / Sincerity is the Way of Heaven)

I do I do! That was all young man with the cougar. =) I missed the first episode but so far the storyline seems to be moving slowly for me, I think because it's just starting out and everyone is being introduced etc but it's interesting.

Yay! We get Park Se Young for this drama! emoticon Woot Woot.

I can tell that Yerin & her mother are not going to be on my favorites list any time soon...they are both prima donna, stuck-up snobs & Yerin is, frankly, quite unattractive...Seyeong is SOOO much more attractive & hope she ends up with Jaeseong in the end!! Also, like that Seyeong is not a "pushover" & doesn't look like she'll take crap from anybody!!

Must admit...a bit shocked that a Korean drama is featuring a "porn actress" character...never thought I would see it...but find it refreshing, to be honest!

Big surprise to me, too. LOL Frankly, I'm finding Jang Mi-Hwa to be the most interesting character so far. She may not be the nicest of people, but at least she is "new," way outside the usual formula for Daily characters.

I'm another one who doesn't see the allure of Yerin. Unattractive skin and bones body and a too thin, pinched face. Yerin would probably be much prettier if she looked more healthy. Then to combine this look with an unpleasant, bad-natured personality and it equals a character I personally can't find much interest in.

The pairing (rather "clashing") between Seungsu the self-absorbed director and Ilyoung the head writer will become better as the story unfolds. They are both strong actors and actually can play against the other quite well.

There are still a lot of loose ends for me. I've missed as much as I've seen of the episodes and I'm unable to watch unedited versions on the net, so I'll just have to wait and see who came from where, etc.

I'm not finding it very interesting so far, but then this type of daily can become a really interesting one as time goes by. Another possibility is that the KXLA version, with its additional cuts of several minutes has left the episodes so hacked up that the viewer can no longer make sense of it. Too much important detail never being seen now.

Also as shocked about the porn actress. I was surprised the first time they mentioned what she was.

nchristi, for some reason I'm finding this drama to be quite boring as well. I'll usually get into it after the first week but I haven't even bothered watching the recordings of this one since Monday of this week (Episode 6?). There's just way too much going on for me and lots of characters in this drama. emoticon

I think what's happening is that the writers are trying to make story lines for everyone so we get to know them but having so many lines kind of makes chaos and we don't get the main plot.

We'll see how this plays out and hopefully it gets better. emoticon

Have to agree about the actress playing Yerin. There are many actors that could be more convincing in the role and Seyeong rival, although I do like Park Se Young. Still waiting to find out the details of Seyeong`s adoption.

Ouch what happened to the scene between the two mothers sparing over who spilled the beans about Yerin being adopted. In the preview it looked to be a great little cat-fight, but it was missing in both Wednesday's and Thursday's nights episodes.

Re:

There wasn`t a fight, but a discussion about Yerin being adopted after her stepmother couldn`t find Seyeong, and wanted people to assume Yerin was her daughter from birth. The whole story of how Seyeong was lost and later adopted by another family has still not been told.Jaesung`s Mom said she hadn`t even told her son or FIL about the adoption.

Re:

I have seen a lot of shows in Korea where adults return from other countries looking for their families. These are people who had been adopted to foreign countries. In 'most' cases, the child was 'lost' while out playing or something, usually from a little village. How in the world can a child be lost like that? Wouldn't everyone for miles around know who the kid is? Very strange.

Yerin is going to be a thorn in Seyong's life! Yerin may end up with the guy who she grew up with in the orphanage. He's in love with her and will stick by her side no matter how nasty she acts.

Lex... You were probably right to bail on Mr Kim. That was kinda a stupid drama. And I already don't like Yerin or her bio mom either!

Actually, none of the young leads in this show are attractive or interesting especially the two sisters who really are not sisters so the title is somewhat misleading.

Re:

So, let's see if I got this straight...Porn mom's (Jang Mihwa) birth daughter (Yerin) was adopted by TV station mom (Joo-hee?) & TV station mom had a birth daughter that was somehow separated from her & could be Seyeong? emoticon

So many interesting twists that could develop from this situation, depending on what the writers think, and the title of the drama has me wondering if the same man might have been involved with the two moms in their early lives emoticon

Thoroughly enjoying the constant "give & take" between IIyeong & Seongsu (sp?)...should definitely lead to a future romance emoticon And saw the beginnings of something similar between Seyeong & Jae-sung last night!

Grandma surprised me last night...saying she never uses profanity but wanted to do it one time, regarding Iyeong's husband's attempts to change her mind about the divorce! Was expecting her to call him all sorts of nasty names but, instead, she starts talking about bowel movements & stuff...what is this never-ending fascination that K-dramas have with bowel movements & "passing gas"? emoticon

lex13 I finally got around to watching both tues. and wed. nights episodes, What happened to the lunch meeting between the two mothers of Yerin? They went to all the trouble of showing Jang making her daughter a home cooked meal, and in the episode all we saw was Jang getting a nice thank you from Yerin. Although I'am enjoying Yerin's catty-ness after her friend tells her about the bickering between Seyeong and Jaesung.

Man this one is a real bummer to watch. I have to force myself to finish each episode.

Anyone else having a tough time watching this one?

LOL at nsheldon's post. She does have a serious attitude problem.

Could anyone here... ANYONE even be forced to care for someone you don't know in the hospital and take that kind of treatment from them? Porn star is so hateful to Yurine's sister in law. That bag of pee..... I can tell you where I'd dump it!!! Bed too high..too low? Massaging too hard..too soft? She wouldn't last long with me.

And now Porn comes right out and says, "Why should I have to die? I have a daughter." Then threatens to destroy the daughter's career by telling the truth about her? No wonder Yurine is so nasty... she has the same genes as Porn.

I believe... every single drama I've ever seen (with the exception of just a handful), someone is trying to cheat someone else out of money, property or trying to bring someone down. I'm amazed with what people can get away with!

I decided not to watch this one. It did not appeal to me from the start and I didn't want to get frustrated with it. Actually nsheldon, it sounds as though it is a reflection of the Korean culture. They were doing things like this almost a thousand years ago. Life was not easy and vengeance was always present. It is still there among the netizens who pull people apart on the internet.Gossip columns are full of so-called 'scandals' which will ruin careers and lives.

I have always been much too trusting of people, and had I taken some clues from the underhanded actions and people on K-Dramas,I would have been better off. Sisters has a Jolly Widows feel, and even if I skip a few days, don`t miss it.

Re:

I'm going to keep watching. Why? (Yes, WHY!!!)

I stopped watching Jolly Widows over 1/2 way through. It frustrated me so bad I just couldn't continue. So far, this one may irritate me but I haven't thought to throw in the towel yet... yet.

Sherlesin. I know just what you mean. We go through this world assuming people are honest with us. Watching these dramas I think, has made me a bit suspicious of folks.. lol But seriously, what dramas out there can we name that didn't include back stabbing, cheating, stealing, etc.? OK, here's my list: Thank You - Last Scandal of My Life I 'think' neither had horrible characters who had no morals and spent their time trying to take what doesn't belong to them.

I bet Yurin ends up donating 1/2 her liver. She won't get the guy... at least not the one she's after now. Considering the role the wife would have to play in that big family, I can't see Yurin fitting in at all. However, I can see Seyong filling that role.

Yurin, as nasty as she is now, will most likely get a big dose of KDR and end up with the guy from the orphanage she grew up with.

OK, I have a bit of a problem with Seyong... She tells everyone she meets how she 'grew up in an orphanage'. BUT SHE DIDN'T!! Juhui (probably her bio mom) lost her when she was a little girl... a little girl!! Then, she was adopted by that other family. So she actually grew up in the other family. She's considered their sister and the favorite daughter of the dad there. So what the heck!!! She may have spent 1 or 2 years in the orphanage but she certainly didn't grow up there.

THe other issue is: Juhui (Yurin's adoptive mom) adopted Yurin so no one would know she lost her own daughter. Seems when she lost her daughter she (mom) was very popular on TV and they didn't want people coming out of the woodwork saying they knew where she was ... FOR MONEY. She kept it quiet and said she 'lost the opportunity to tell' and then went to the orphanage and chose Yurin to take the place of her own daughter.. Now, why didn't she give Yurin the name Younga, who was her bio daughter, if she was trying to pass Yurin off as her own? I'm confused!

OK, done w/the days rant..

Re:

I've been doing nothing but lurking on this thread reading everyone else's entries to this thread, my brain refuses to think with all this heat we've had lately. But now that its cooled down a bit, I now feel comfortable enough to rejoin the fun.

I noticed that KXLA has changed the format for this show so now the first commercial break has been returned to it shorter length, and they seem to have taken less time off the shows air length. So I hope the editing is improving.

Not liking how Yerin is using her "friendship" with Seyeong to steer her away from a relationship with Jaesung, who she; Yerin lied about how she is in a close relationship with him. If only Yerin knew how Jaesung's mother really felt about her son's relationship with her even now.

But I'am enjoying how Yerin is forced to use her old friend from the orphanage find out if anyone has been trying to find her! Soon we will have the happy reunion of bio-mommy and daughter, won't that be a fun episode! I'm looking forward to the episodes where Yerin and Jang move in together so they can get to know each other better. Yeah Right!

Still the episode where Yerin's sister-in-law had to empty Jang's urine bag was pretty funny. I'm sorry but I'm pretty sure that was a nurse's duty, not family's job.
