Re: K-Drama: 오자룡이 간다 (Here Comes Oh Jaryong)

Friday night's Episode 28

And the deed is done. Nothing is able to stop the Yongsuk wedding. Marie's potential intervention only leads to Gija intercepting her and labor kicking in and having to be rushed to the hospital. Aunt, Giyoung, had it right, with her words to try to reason with Yongsuk and Gija, and reminding him that he is dooming his son to the same fate he had to endure, a hard and poor life without a father... even against those words, Yongsuk is undeterred in reaching his ambitions... The wedding went forward.

Poor Marie, wonder what she'll do next. It seems like Gija might be developing some feelings for her grandson.

Funny moment when Baekro mentioned to Seungshil, Jaryong's mom, that to her Gija is so impossible to understand, like she's from another planet! LOL!

Another aspect I'm getting a kick out of, the kids are having love and tension bloom, Jaryong and Gongju and Jaryong and Yongsuk, respectively... Funny because while the mother's are very close friends, not enough to intermingle the families yet. Wait til Baekro and Gija find out who Jaryong is in being snubbed as he was previously... And funny that Baekro could end up marrying both her daughters to the sons of her closest friends!

Re: K-Drama: 오자룡이 간다 (Here Comes Oh Jaryong)

Just cannot end this drama with Jinju with Yongsuk. He's responsible (very possibly) for the death of her father. There just is no way to forgive him, regardless of how much he repents!! He has a very mean streak in him and has thrown a couple big fits already. I think he is dangerous.

I already sensed that Yongsuk the Creepster was trying to get rid of Gongju. He wanted to send her overseas to study. He is the type who will try to remove everyone who he thinks could make his life complicated.... or anyone who could expose him for the rat he is.

I can't even begin to imagine how afraid Marie must be. Getting pregnant, being all alone and being abandoned by the baby's father. Then to even have the baby's grandmother pay you off. Gija mentioned how hard it is to raise 'children' when you have no money. There is still a story out there about the daughter she had. Well, can't be Jinju... could it be Gongju?

Re: Gija's daughter

Ohhhhhh! Gija's daughter... the earlier scene made it seem that the girl died, but perhaps she was simply abandoned at the hospital??? Dum, dum, dummmmmm... As Yongsuk and Jinju are already married, that would make them brother/sister as well as husband/wife: a big NO-NO in KDramaLand. Unless something happens on the honeymoon and they did not have their First Night festivities... dum, dum, dummmmm...

How many episodes? Yongsuk is a great villain, lots of villainy in store for future episodes. I love the way Baekro is such a breathy dummy. She always speaks in a breathy, Jackie-O, finishing-school way, but is really the same as Gija and Jaeryong's mother. They were all three school-mates.

I hope this doesn't get goofy like Smile, Donghae.

Re: K-Drama: 오자룡이 간다 (Here Comes Oh Jaryong)

Last night's episode on MBC Digital, LA18.3, was preempted for breaking news coverage. I only recorded the timeframe and was not watching live until I tried to watch the recording this morning.

Did anyone watch after the news coverage, did the episode air after the news coverage?

Re:

No, the episode didn't air at all. Also, it didn't air today (normally a repeat of previous night) at 3:40pm. I'm wondering if possibly they'll air last night's tonight. Hopefully we didn't miss anything.

Watchumiots: The episode that mentioned Yongsuk's sister showed him taking a very sick sister out of the house and being at someone's gate/door begging for someone to save her. I thought it was a private residence. If it were a hospital he could have just went inside. I guess we'll have to wait to find out what the heck that was all about. Also during that scene, I'm sure that Gija yelled something like, "Let her die". I that's what Gija was talking about to Marie... about life being so hard you have to watch your children starve. Maybe Gija had come to the end of her rope and just felt that baby girl's fate was to die. (???)

Thanks for the info, nsheldon. Glad I did not miss it, would have been annoyed if it aired after my DVR stopped recording! Last night and this afternoon aired/will air the episode in question, saw the intro last night but will have to wait to record and watch the repeat airing today.

@nsheldon: Thanks for the clarification, Gija's character is a real piece of work, but there is one in every series.

So, does Yongjerk saving Jinju's life cancel out him killing her father? I bet in his twisted mind he'll think so. They better not try to humanize him because it's too late. He's already proven himself to be a monster.

Re:

Gija is really something. She shows her 'class' every time she opens her mouth. I can't believe she'd go to Ms Snob's house and order the maid around like that. Then Ms. Snob, who is tired of Gija showing up at her house, tells Jinju to start spending time with Gija. She'd even push Gija off to Jinju to get her off HER own back. And of course, Gija being as materialistic as she is, jumps at the chance to shop and spend Jinju's money.

Gongju started working with Jaryeong at the stand. When is she gonna tell him who she really is? I mean, how many people will work for bus fare? lol When will Jarhead catch on to that?

Wait until rich mom finds out her daughter Gongju is working on the street!! LOL Or maybe Yongsik will see her and "report" her to Baekro to get even with Gongiu for her "attitude." Or worse, if Gija sees her first! She'll tell the whole neighborhood!

The writers need to push this story along a little more. We've been watching this impasse between Jaryong and Gongju for long enough. We get it. It's getting tiresome.

Not sure why the Marie storyline is being retained. Unless the possibility still exists that Yongsuk and Jinju do not remain married, which means maybe Jinju WILL end up with her real love and his daughter. One can only hope.

It's starting to look like Yongsuk made a self-fulfilling prophecy when he had told Marie earlier that his marriage-to-be was a "fake" marriage.

Re: K-Drama: 오자룡이 간다 (Here Comes Oh Jaryong)

I almost wish Gija could move in... the Gija and Baekro oil and water mix cracks me up... They are of different worlds, truly. Gija is impossible, while Baekro likes to have some form of control and dominance - Gija turns all that upside down with her element of chaos to destabilize Baekro's vision of near perfect order. Baekro is a volcano waiting to blow after all of Gija's recent antics and pushing the envelop in trying to assert some power in the relationship, given her initial low standing. emoticon But right now, Gija has an ace up her sleeve in her son. How long will that last.. especially once all the truths start coming out?

On Jaryong and Gongju, I agree it's glacial. We have Mr. Clueless and Ms. Lady in Waiting. LOL!

Cheer Up, Mr. Kim has the same issue as far as the slow romance goes, but that at least has an excuse given the set up in that one is not the usual K-Drama syndrome having a One True Pair that is established early on. I wonder, given both series sharing some similarities, if this is the new preferred trend by Korean daily audiences, that they don't want to see the main characters nailed down to full blown relationship at the onset, with the weddings then happening earlier on in the series for the main two (I don't count the Yongsuk and Jinju aspect given they are the other two, and more of an arranged marriage rather than the romantic thrust of the series). The two current dailies are a change up in some respects to the trends of the last year or two.

The Marie aspect is my least favorite of this series. She seems pointless other than a potential looming catalyst for the truth and/or to create division and a potential love triangle. I of course feel very bad for her, and what Yongsuk did to her is detestable, but she's been a one note character so far. I'm going to be annoyed if they make her come in between Gongju and Jaryong later, especially with how drawn out it has been unable to move even to first base, she could be a temporary spoiler for drama.

Do women in Korea actually walk around with a mini skirt on and heels ...in the dead of winter, through the snow?? That'd have to be the ultimate in being obsessed with your appearance... I can barely make it to church in other than my sweats!!

Re: K-Drama: 오자룡이 간다 (Here Comes Oh Jaryong)

Hah, I love how Gongju keeps getting Jaryong into these interesting situations. The missing the boat trope is one we have seen many times in K-Drama as one that helps bind couples together through giving them quality alone time on an island... It does not get old for me, I get a kick out of it!

I continue to be most amused with the Gija And Baekro rivalry. Could not stop laughing when Gija found the medicinal herb tonic all emptied out in the trash! LOL!

nsheldon, I was thinking the same thing. South Korea is notoriously big on fashion... I've read that so many women go out only dressed to the nines in many cases as part of the burden of status. There's a joke that even eyebrow hair has to be perfectly attended to before going out. In this case, Jaryong and Jaeryong were all covered up with so many layers in comparison compared to what Gongju was wearing. Funny, it was Jaeryong that caught the cold. emoticon I am amazed how fashion conscious women are able to go out like that without freezing. From my guy perspective, women can be an amazingly tough bunch in this regard.

Re:

Wow, would Gija really want Yongjerk and Jinju living with her? I am quite sure she'd mistreat Jinju. Funny, she seems to think SHE's the owner of the company and everything else now that Yongjerk is CEO. However, I think she should be able to see her own son if she wants. Ms Snob thinks she has the son she's always wanted in Yongjerk but she wants to push his classless mother out of the picture.

Eventually Ms Snob will understand what her husband tried to tell her on his deathbed. Her precious son in law is as classless as his mother... and a murderer to boot! I hope they don't let him get away with that.

My TV has the hiccups, or at least the channels are not working properly, so I don't know what happened to the two on the island. did they actually miss the boat? Poor Jaeryong will have a fit.

Re:

Brad6, Gongju made sure they missed the boat but clueless Jaryong made sure they got separate rooms. Gongju tried everything, even pretending to get drunk when they ate dinner, so Jaryong ended up carrying her on his back---to HER room where he dumped her on the floor. He left, then came back but only to cover her up. Then he left for his own room again, to Gongju's chagrin.
That was the end of the island trip. The next scene, Jaryong was at home, having breakfast with his family.

I've been wanting to say this---I feel nervous when I see Baby Sol lying on the couch or bed with no "bumpers" around him, and no one in the room. Maybe because he's wrapped up so tight and is so young, it's not a problem. But it makes me nervous all the same.

Thanks Kittypaws. I am surprised they did not stop the boat. However I think Gongju has seen too many kdramas but it did not work out for her. Jaeryong obviously has never watched a kdrama ! I do think that gradually he is beginning to fel some strange urgings when he thinks about Gonju.

Re: K-Drama: 오자룡이 간다 (Here Comes Oh Jaryong)

Just caught up on this week's episodes.

Hah, the piggyback ride and Gongju wrapping him on top of her, didn't go exactly as planned, but it sure got Jaryong hot and bothered that night. Sadly, one step forward, with Gongju in a later scene confessing... Leads to two steps back with her retracting it due to Jaryong telling her she's more like a sister to him. Argh, as I feared in a previous post, Marie's presence helps put a momentary freeze on the Jaryong and Gongju relationship. Pardon the glacial pun. emoticon

Yongsuk was jarred by MIL's comment on Gonju's ambition and wishing she taught her the business earlier... That's all well and good in today's new era post-father's death, but back then, I highly doubt Gonju would have been receptive to such hard and demanding work. Yongsuk will likely be even more guarded to try to keep Gongju down now...

Yeah, wasn't that look on Yongjerk's face 'telling'? Ms Snob makes that comment about Congju's ambition and how she should have taught her the business years ago. Yongjerk is immediately feeling threatened by this and you just know he's gonna do something to make Gongju look incompetent now.

Can't stand how wimpy Jinju is. BUt LOVE that she's tossing the pregnancy mixture. lol

I think they're gonna make Marie act really revengeful but I am going to root for her all the way. Maybe she'll cause Yongjerk to go insane? Would love that!

Re: K-Drama: 오자룡이 간다 (Here Comes Oh Jaryong)

Yes! I also would welcome a bit of a firebrand Marie. Was not all that interested in her character, but if she becomes a force for Yongsuk to contend with, that would be interesting! Feel really bad for her though, it is one disaster after another in her life ever since Yongsuk disappeared on her, now with this break-in... after all she has gone through alone recently and newly with child, the stress must be punishing.

I did not expect to see Jinju do that either given her more quiet and submissive nature. I thought maybe she had already moved on to accept him, but I guess the combination of not being ready to commit to putting her career aside plus the combination of still being distant from Yongsuk is enough to give her pause. Let us hope Gija does not find out, I think we have had enough of her spectacle for now, or have we? LOL!!
