This will either replace Can't Live Without You on MBC Digital, LA18.3 either next week on Wednesday January 2 or the following week, Monday January 7, 2013. We may need to keep our eyes peeled as it may debut on any given Monday without notice if the schedule isn't updated that day for us to be aware of.

Re: K-Drama: 오자룡이 간다 (Here Comes Oh Jaryong)

Did anyone catch the first episode? What did you think?

Pretty good start, I thought. The story and characterizations are still somewhat undeveloped at this point with this being mostly a get to know the cast carrousel, as most first episodes... but I highly enjoyed the light feel of this series. After Can't Live Without You being a more heavy melodrama, I found Here Comes Oh Jaryong a welcome change of pace, lighter, more comedy and more fun.

The cast is a really good one, especially the veterans... lots of major familiar faces that usually grace the higher budget prime time dramas in this one. Always nice to see Kim Hye Ok, Lee Whee Hyang and Dok Ko Yeong Jae - the latter two we saw in Lights and Shadows a few months ago. I was surprised by Lee Whee Hyang's character, since the actress usually plays more refined and sophisticated characters, her role here as GiJa had a few quirky oddities, shall we say. LOL! Also nice to see Han Jin Hee again.

The younger cast looks very good as well - with Lee Jang Woo (who is quickly becoming a rising star and charming the ladies of this forum, in I Do, I Do), and Oh Yeon-Seo (Malsuk from My Husband Got a Family)... I found myself laughing and interested in her character here... I guess her annoying Malsuk nature is starting to fade away from my mind. LOL! She's still a bit of a spoiled rich princess though.

One of the main reasons I was looking forward to this though was Seo Hyun Jin (the girl in the airplane scene), who has been dazzling as a rising star actress in the last year with some serious talents in her arsenal (The Duo, Feast of the Gods) - I hope she is able to display some of those skills in this one. She won recently at the MBC 2012 Drama Awards for her role in Feast of the Gods and this series.

Then there's Ryu Dam, the jolly sidekick we often see him in, this time as Jaryong's brother, looks like he'll be doing some comic relief just as he did in Queen Seon Deok.

It's almost like a Lights and Shadows reunion show with 4 cast members from that one in this. LOL!

Another thing I really liked is the whole manhwa (comic) themed graphic designs/title intro of the series... it adds another bit of fun and youthfulness innate in this series.

Nice start. Looking forward to tomorrow's episode 2!

I saw the first episode and I quite like it. I love the veteran casts...they're all in one drama it seem emoticon. The storyline seems to be light hearted but I fear for the heaviness toward the middle emoticon. I guess coming off of previous drama will take a little more to get use to the new drama emoticon.

K-pop news: Lee Jang Woo and Oh Yeon Seo are making headline in the Entertainment in Korea with breaking news of the two "seem to be" dating. The rating of the drama is quite high, and peaked after the news. The two were seen mingling and hanging out with each others and other people...apparently if you seem like a close knit group - you're dating emoticon. Yeon Seo's agency said that the two became close as the drama filming progress, and that she's Jang Woo's junior from the same college so they have a lot of common interests and etc. This news threw a wrench in MBC reality variety show "We got married" b/c Yeon Seo is currently the onscreen wife with Lee joon from MBLAQ. The viewers for the show request, or rather demand, she's to be replaced since it's no more a "reality" showing a couple being together while she's dating outside the show. The show producers are at lost since they haven't encounter this problem for awhile until now (apparently one couple exited the show after 10 weeks b/c the guy was revealed to be dating outside the show - I just thought the two were too different, so they needed to be taking off the show emoticon). Jang Woo's agency is staying mum on the situation emoticon.

I'm up to episode 6 and it does seem to be getting a little less light-hearted or I've watched so many dramas that I see the big changes coming. I'm not going to give anything away, but watch for it.

The cast in this is so great. They've been mixed and matched in so may dramas together that it's fun to try to put them all in order. For example Gram has been in dramas with almost all of them. Jaryong's mother, one of my favorites, has worked with Gram more than once and played the mother of the actor who returned from the states on another drama. I'm sure there are more, but that and Lights and Shadows is all I can think of right now.

Can't wait to see how all of this plays out. I'm liking this one.

Re:

I started it also (2nd episode) but still on the fence about it. Not sure what to think. Usually on the first episode I'm trying to figure what the writers are going to do with 'couples'. Not always right but I get it most of the time. Right now, I'm clueless and don't think I care. So hard to like a character that was so dislikable in a previous drama (the nasty girl in Husband Got a Family). Pretty sure she'll end up with I Do I Do guy. He can do better. However, she did seem a bit put out that her 'boyfriend' almost ran over I Do's mother and all he cared about was kimchi sauce on his car. I hope she plays a better person in this.

I would DIE rather than ask an old friend for money. The friend who seems to be a borrower meets her old friend from school then goes to her house because she's wanting money. I Do's mother already lent her $5,000 and she also borrowed money from loan sharks... never learned her lesson. She doesn't pay back the money either, even to the loan sharks.

Re: Here Comes Oh Jaryong

When I first saw Lee Jang Woo in Smile, Donghae, I didn't care for him because of the surly character he played. Then, in Glory Jane, he was a little less so. He was quite different in I Do, I Do. And now I like him a whole lot in this one. He is getting better and better and looks more comfortable in his roles. Now, when he acts silly, it fits the character he's playing. I also like the fact he's a "giver" in this drama.

I'm really liking this whole drama. Funny, "Malsuk" is playing almost the same type, sort of, as in My Husband. Only not as selfish. Things will pick up for her when she and Jaryong start to connect and maybe she will be calmer then...maybe. Still can't figure out where I've seen the actress who plays her mother, though. She looks familiar.

This has pulled me back into watching a daily show and am definitely enjoying this one.

Re: K-Drama: 오자룡이 간다 (Here Comes Oh Jaryong)

Last night's Episode 4 had me laughing and smiling more than any daily since some of the comedy moments in My One and Only and My Bittersweet Life. A good thing in my book since so much of the family dramas as of late have been charged with depressing melodrama that is too much. After all the depressing and gloomy stuff in Seoyeong, My Daughter and the previous MBC Daily, this new one, Here Comes Oh Jaryong is a breath of fresh air for me. There's nothing really new to the table here, it's the usual K-Drama daily formula, but that is made up for a very strong and varied cast from top to bottom and some fun to watch storylines. Liking this one more and more - it's a great watch after the very good, Cheer Up, Mr. Kim which is slightly unconventional as far as recent dailies go as that one is written by the masterfully talented writer of The Princess' Man.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but Gongju (Oh Yeon Seo aka Malsuk from My Husband Got A Family) looks kind of cute and attractive in this one, maybe it's that fiery dark red hair. LOL! Like nsheldon, in My Husband Got A Family she annoyed me throughout that series, but in this one, Gongju is cracking me up with her little revenge schemes, and when she's in an emotional state, I felt for her... something I didn't feel in her previous aforementioned role. Laughed big time at the spray paint scene, her facial expressions cracked me up as she was about to spray the can on the wall. LOL!

Kittypaws now I'm curious to know where you saw her from! Maybe this will help... here's a list of her credits:

Oh Ja Ryong is Coming (MBC, 2012)
    Fashion King (SBS, 2012)
    Life is Beautiful (SBS, 2010)
Mom Has Grown Horns (KBS2, 2008)
    A Woman's Choice (KBS2, 2006)
    That Summer Typhoon (SBS, 2005)
    Prince's First Love (SBS, 2004)
A Problem At My Younger Brother's House (SBS, 2003)
    Mothers and Sisters (MBC, 2000)

Looking forward to tonight's episode 5.

Re:

Got it! Thank you, but I have to thank Asian-Wiki more because they call Mom Has Grown Horns by the title of "Mom's Dead Upset." "Baek Ro," as she is called in this one (real name Jang Mi Hee/Hie) was the horrible mother-in-law in Mom's Dead Upset. She and her husband lived in that beautiful house high up. Her husband in that was the same actor who played "Mr. Choi" in Arang and the Magistrate, and he is also known to us as "Knothead's" husband. She was so snooty and rude to her daughter-in-law, one of Mom's daughters. Everybody in the whole household tiptoed around her, including her husband and son. She just has such a regal look about her that I knew I had seen her somewhere. By the way, she has a very lengthy movie career, and not many tv dramas.
