Re: K-Drama: 내 딸 서영이 (Seoyeong, My Daughter)

Reminder for KBS World in America viewers, this will start Saturday Night.

One thing is clear, Lee Bo Young (like, love or hate her), is everywhere in the last year with her roles in Hooray for Love, Equator Man and now this. Loved her in Birth of the Rich, but kind of middling on her recently in Equator Man and Hooray For Love.

Another thing is clear, this is the year of Traditional Family dramas being revived, whether that be daily or weekend series, and KBS is dominating with tremendous ratings compared to the competition in this subgenre. My Daughter Seoyeong is hot on the heels, ratings wise, with this year's #1 ratings behemoth in Korea, My Husband Got a Family. Other than that, I have not ventured to find out anything about this series yet, whether it's good or bad or whatnot, I'll wait to see it for myself.

Looks like LBY's character will be paired once again with Cheon Ho Jin's character as her father, like in last year's Hooray for Love.

The main male lead is played by Lee Sang Yun, who some may have seen last year as one of the lead actors in The Duo - quite a good actor in my view.

Nice to see Park Jung Ah again in a series after we saw her recently in My One and Only and Smile Donghae some years ago. I quite like this actress. Also looking forward to Choi Yoon Young who I enjoyed a bit in Queen of Reversals.

The support cast of veterans looks solid, with Choi Jeong Woo (recently in Ghost and Standby), Kim Hye Ok (My One and Only, and Dr. Jin), yay so glad to see her again in a family drama, loved her so much in MOaO, Hong Yo Seop (who many of us enjoyed in President and Definitely Neighbors).

LOL, Kwak Seung Nam is in this, the lackey in Brain and recently in the daily, Moon and Stars For You in a similar role as one of Jinu's assistants. He's a funny side character type of an actor, curious to see what kind of role he'll get in this one.

Overall I'm looking forward to this series with somewhat high expectations after the recently excellent My Husband Got a Family.

Re: K-Drama: 내 딸 서영이 (Seoyeong, My Daughter)

What a shame that KBS America/KBS World are continuing with their one-day difference in airing. Just as with My Husband Got a Family, some of us will see Episode 1 on Saturday, others will see Episode 1 on Sunday. emoticon

Thanks for all the additional tidbits, SuperRookie.

Lee Bo Young - "Like, love or hate her." I can't really say I have any strong feelings about her acting. She's just "there." And lately, she's there a little too much. Maybe this will be a role more suited to her... keeping fingers crossed.

Re: K-Drama: 내 딸 서영이 (Seoyeong, My Daughter)

Share your views nchristi, usually I started out liking her in EM and Hooray for Love, but by the time the series ended I was completely middling or whatever on her. There's something appealing about her though when she's in her element... so I'm rooting for her to do well here.

On a side note, I was looking at the image you posted above today and something came to mind that I'm going to be looking out for when we get into the series. The heavenly/cloud heart motif with LBY's character in red against everyone in white seems evident, but interestingly, Kim Hye Ok's character, Ji Sun (I'm guessing the male lead's mother based on the cast info above?)... why is she the only other one with a red object, and an apple at that... wonder if there's any symbolism in this production still that carries over into the series or if it's just a visual eye candy. But it caught my interest and will give me something to think about when we start the series this weekend. LOL!

Choi Yoon Young, the young lady sitting on the right of the still, looks positively cute! emoticon

I chose the teaser above because the other one gave away too much for those who might not want to know until they see it for themselves. Also, I thought there was something much more artistic, pleasing to the eye, and inviting in the red-on-white trailer.

Re: K-Drama: 내 딸 서영이 (Seoyeong, My Daughter)

Just watched the video teaser. You're right nchristi, it's a unique teaser and definitely has an artistic and pleasing sensibility to it. Interesting style. I'm glad you chose this over the other, which I won't check out given you say it gives away too much.

I'm even more intrigued now since the teaser video shows LBY's character and her father with the red apple, but in the still image, it shows Kim Hye Ok's character with the red apple... if the image still has any bearing on the story, it makes me wonder if she's going to be a nemesis type character or somehow some kind of firewall against LBY's character. Perhaps all this is just visual style with no bearing on the story though, but it makes for some interesting conversation fodder before it airs. LOL!

All the elements of a successful show came together in Husband; as in some weekend dramas of a few years ago. A difficult act to follow, but hoping for the best on future chilly weekend nights.

Re: K-Drama: 내 딸 서영이 (Seoyeong, My Daughter)

I wish KBS America (or World) would just skip this Saturday and start off with the first episode Sunday. Again, I will be forced to stay off the board. I don't have enough common sense to know what scenes I would mention, giving spoilers (I swear never intentionally). And I have absolutely zero will power so can't watch along with everyone else.
