Synopsis (AsianWiki)

In the year 1448, during the 30th year of Se-Jeong's (Ahn Sung-Ki) reign, Joseon finds itself at the mercy of its Chinese overlords. In pursuit of Joseon’s autonomy, King Sejong funds a secret project to create the Sinjijeon - a powerful rocket based artillery weapon. When the project nears completion, the Ming Dynasty learns of the project and comes down hard on suspected Koreans. The inventor of the Sinjijeon destroys important research materials and commits suicide to protect the project. For the country of Joseon, the project isn’t completely lost as the inventor’s daughter Hong-Ri (Han Eun-Jung) escapes with the blueprints for the Sinjijeon.

This is the third time I have watched this and it is always exciting. The cast is great and the action keeps you watching each moment. Europe was three hundred years later in making such a weapon.

I've never seen this one Peg. Good to hear you think well of it. I'm going to watch it on tonight's airing, since last night I had to record Dr. Jin and the KBS Drama Special.

Re: K-Movie: The Divine Weapon

I watched the movie The Divine Weapon last night and enjoyed it. It was a pretty good and entertaining viewing. It's not historically accurate of course, and there's a number of issues presented that would undoubtedly raise the eyebrows of a certain neighbor in question... but the production was grand, beautiful looking with some great action scenes.

My favorite aspect (other than looking great and grand, and wishing that more K-Dramas on TV could look like this in scale), were seeing so many of my favorite K-Drama actors in this one, like Heo Jun Ho, Kim Myeong Su, Park Jung Chul. This was a very good cast from top to bottom.

The only little point of issue I had was, at times the presentation wasn't as flowing or crystallized as I'd hope for... it would jump around from scene to scene sometimes with little bearing on the prior scene, way too many times and it wasn't always as clearly presented as I was hoping... although, I wonder if this might have due to potentially having been edited down to fit for time.

The final action scene was very exciting.

Pretty good movie overall.

Re: K-Movie: The Divine Weapon

Glad you saw this Super. As a matter of fact I understand your slight crtiticism, However, I was inclined to overlook this because I thought they gave the viewer the chance to understand and interpret what was happening without undue scenes of explanation. So many times it dramas they clutter up with scenes that try to explain things that we already understand.
I liked it a lot.

Yes, I liked this one a lot too! I think this movie will benefit from repeat viewings in the future to catch some secondary elements that I may have missed on my first watch.

I have not watched many Korean Movies in the last 3-4 years... maybe only around 5 give or take. Do you have any film recommendations?

My memory does me no good in looking back on what I have seen. I hardly know if I saw a film or a drama unless it was last week. Howeever if I come accross any films that move me I will let you know.
