C-Drama: LA18 noon《山楂樹之戀》 Hawthron Love (5/31/2012-7/18/2012)
This is a 35-episode drama. The story began in 1974. A girl name JinQio whose family background rendered her prospects dismal. This is the story of her life.
This TV adaptation of the popular 2007 novel by Ai Mi (Hawthorn Tree Forever) was preceded by a successful 2010 movie of the same name directed by Zhang YiMou, the famed Chinese director. Although the movie received critical acclaim, most complained that due to the time constraint of the movie, it did not do the book justice. Hopefully, the TV version will have the time for character and plot development.
