I prefered Smile Donghae which despite its defects, maintained dramatic tension and had better character development.nondisclosed_email@example.com (sherlesin)Thu, 21 Jun 2012 17:04:39 +0000 Re: K-Drama: 당신 뿐이야 (My One and Only)https://bcjkdramasincalifornia.runboard.com/p2055006,from=rss#post2055006https://bcjkdramasincalifornia.runboard.com/p2055006,from=rss#post2055006curly carrot it's been ages since I saw you post on this board. Looking forward to the next daily even though I much prefer the evening dramas that run 16-20 episodes (a lot meatier with a shorter amount of time investment)nondisclosed_email@example.com (curly carrot)Thu, 21 Jun 2012 10:26:27 +0000 Re: K-Drama: 당신 뿐이야 (My One and Only)https://bcjkdramasincalifornia.runboard.com/p2054995,from=rss#post2054995https://bcjkdramasincalifornia.runboard.com/p2054995,from=rss#post2054995Agree with your points pali, especially with the liquid nature of the production schedule, they don't have a defined end point until the other production (series) is ready to air, and that could complicate the story pacing. In this case, I have a feeling KBS' budget issues, the strikes of this year had some kind of an effect on this production as well. There was a joke in the weekend series, My Husband Got a Family, where towards the end of the the writer's stint in one production, she was focused on getting new work instead of focusing on the ending parts of her current job. I had to laugh about that if that kind of an issue was in play for some daily writers. LOL! What did you think of this series compared to say the last two, My Bittersweet Life or Smile Donghae?nondisclosed_email@example.com (SuperRookie)Thu, 21 Jun 2012 08:55:25 +0000 Re: K-Drama: 당신 뿐이야 (My One and Only)https://bcjkdramasincalifornia.runboard.com/p2054993,from=rss#post2054993https://bcjkdramasincalifornia.runboard.com/p2054993,from=rss#post2054993I think, we have to expect many flaws with the dailies because the scripts are written fast and furious to make much real sense and appeal to a younger audience.nondisclosed_email@example.com (pali)Thu, 21 Jun 2012 08:39:49 +0000 Re: K-Drama: 당신 뿐이야 (My One and Only)https://bcjkdramasincalifornia.runboard.com/p2054983,from=rss#post2054983https://bcjkdramasincalifornia.runboard.com/p2054983,from=rss#post2054983Great points, sherlee and I'm glad to see you weigh in. I too was a bit disappointed in how anticlimactic the whole Mr. Na story was in relation to Mr. Ki's death, given the huge to do they made throughout the series, only for it to end up as a plain ole accident... I've enjoyed writing summaries (for lurkers/readers who might have missed episodes and maybe accidentally mention the edited scenes lol) and discussing the final weeks/months of this series and Gwanggaeto. I've been running on empty as of late though with both series concluding at similar times... so I'm definitely looking forward to the break and will go back to posting more casually versus the summary format as we start a new daily tonight. Great comments everyone! Said it before and last night, but again, the forum members really make this viewing so much more rewarding with the viewpoints, especially in the dailies where we have a lot to discuss throughout a number of months. Despite the flaws of My One and Only, it sure did have an unusually high charismatic factor that drew a lot of us in, didn't it? The next one will have a lot to live up to... looking forward to the next one though, can't get enough of these! I wish we had a weekend break to mull over and deliberate on this series before the next one starts, as they did in Korea... but we don't have that luxury, with the next one ready to air in a few hours.nondisclosed_email@example.com (SuperRookie)Wed, 20 Jun 2012 17:36:55 +0000 Re: K-Drama: 당신 뿐이야 (My One and Only)https://bcjkdramasincalifornia.runboard.com/p2054968,from=rss#post2054968https://bcjkdramasincalifornia.runboard.com/p2054968,from=rss#post2054968Again, thank you for the complete summary, SuperRookie. Very much appreciated. In general, the ending of this drama left me happy and satisfied. Over the years, I think I've given up on demanding a high standard of covering and concluding all the storyline tangents. Instead, I find more pleasure in a Daily that has sufficient and regular doses of happiness or fun going on to balance out the villainous activities. The endings I dislike are ones contrived simply to end it all, often making a disjointed mismash crammed together as an ending. My favorite parts of the ending were Bongja's wedding and a house being built for all the family. I presume this hanok housing will also include Gunghwa's parents and Gramps. A regular community! Dohui and Seojun don't bother me. She has from the start been a person who walks to the beat of a different drummer. I see her as a very savvy person, able to balance her loyalty and feelings against the negatives that were, or might arise in the future. I can also see her making a life in Japan if she marries Seojun. His mother must be grateful and happy that a beautiful, smart, talented woman like Dohui has remained his friend through thick and thin. Seojun will come to that conclusion, too, if he hasn't already. He was always attracted to Dohui and they do make a nice couple. It all depends on whether he has paid his debt to society and decides to change his character and attitude. I have detested many of his actions, yet I don't see him as beyond redemption, or being forgiven by others. Unchan was the best leading male in a Daily that I've seen for a while. He was entirely likable and respectable. He and Gunghwa made a good couple... good chemistry going on much of the time. The Bongja/Insuk (Ms. Hong) ending didn't sit well with me. It was nice, but it didn't fit Bongja's character, in my opinion. Buying and secretly giving a rose to Ms. Hong daily—that's a big stretch in what Bongja's personality has been all along. It seemed much more a contrived (and unsuccessful) way to end the Rose and Mr. Oh Mystery. Speaking of Bongja, I loved the scene of her longingly touching the wedding gowns while Gunghwa is trying one on. I only wish her mood at the gown salon could have been carried forward to the wedding itself. It was a downer to see her back to her old critical, stick in the mud self, unable to enjoy even her own happiest moments.   Then there is Gachan - In the beginning he was such a weak, chauvinistic guy. The world centered around him, demanding the women wait on him hand and foot. His male ego was ultra-sensitive and he was frequently offended by the audacity of women not respecting him to his level of expectation. I have loved his growing and turnabout. He has become a dedicated husband and father, trying to do his best, seeing his efforts blooming at the end. I have thoroughly enjoyed his adventure into Trot singing and his "Ki Gachan–the Singing Lawyer" talk radio program. To see Gachan have it all—singing, talk show, respected and practicing attorney—has maintained the happy experience for several weeks. He became and is my favorite character. Loved the actor, too. He was perfect as Gachan, regardless of which 'hat' he was wearing. nondisclosed_email@example.com (nchristi)Wed, 20 Jun 2012 16:09:49 +0000 Re: K-Drama: 당신 뿐이야 (My One and Only)https://bcjkdramasincalifornia.runboard.com/p2054967,from=rss#post2054967https://bcjkdramasincalifornia.runboard.com/p2054967,from=rss#post2054967I'm glad this show is over. Thank heavens! Their real wedding was one of the highlights of the drama because of its beautiful, traditional style. Why they would ever want to supplant that with a white-gown wedding was beyond me. - Happy for Bonja that she finally had a wedding. She looked lovely and it showed how this excellent actress looks in real life. . .she is very pretty and I recall her in many roles over the years where she played her part perfectly. She can be a dowdy ajumma or high-level executive but she always excels. - Like the rest of you, happiest for Gachan. Turns out the guy can really entertain! I liked seeing him sing "Only You." He even finally got it on key. I think the final was better than a lot of the episodes leading up to it. I was pleasantly surprised. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Kittypaws)Wed, 20 Jun 2012 14:36:04 +0000 Re: K-Drama: 당신 뿐이야 (My One and Only)https://bcjkdramasincalifornia.runboard.com/p2054962,from=rss#post2054962https://bcjkdramasincalifornia.runboard.com/p2054962,from=rss#post2054962Here's the final episode recap, including the edited deleted scenes from the local version. The editing was quite good for the finale, only 2 blocks of (4 scenes) of little significance taken out. Final Episode 128: - Unchan stares at the bank book with shock. Bunam and Bongja tell him the decision of what to do with the money is his. Bunam and Bongja exit the room, and of course, Bokchan is there to wonder what's going on. LOL Trot dials KJW's number while Unchan is in a state of shock. He talks to her, but then the scene cuts out... we viewers do not hear or know anything of what's going on. - Bongja goes to Insuk's office late to bring another flower, only for Insuk there, waiting in the dark waiting for her. They talk and Bongja tells her that when she was alone during her rocky period with Bunam, she lost confidence... she is amazed how Insuk was able to carry on with strength to raise her two daughters. She thought flowers and Insuk go well together and the intent was to cheer Insuk on. - Dohui gives Doyeong freelance work with how busy things are due to the joint project. Jun is torn but due to Gachan's words of putting himself in others shoes... Jun thinks she should have her own life too. - Everyone is tuning in for Gachan's TV appearance. Gachan charms everyone in the interview portion. At the law firm, even Mr. Kim is pleased... calls are coming in the paralegals with clients seeking Gachan. Gachan praises his mother and father as the source of his success and abilities due to how they raised him. After thanking all the people in his life, Gachan then sings "Only You." If only the Ki family could have been more like this more of the show. __________________________________ Deleted Scenes 1 of 2: - While Gachan sings on TV, Mr. Na is dancing and cleaning Gramp's room with his foot mops, a la Trot. - Unchan and Trot are going around to get more signatures from minority shareholders. Unchan is still in a daze. Trot says, he should do what KJW is asking first since it's what she wants and it's her gift to the Ki family for raising him well. Unchan nods, but concern is still written on his face. - Insuk (Ms. Hong/Dohui/Doyeong's mother) walks past Mr. Oh's flower shop. A comedic piano ditty music plays. As Insuk walks past, Mr. Oh calls out to her, "Ms. Hong, Ms. Hong." Insuk turns around, but then walks past him again going back in the other direction from where she came. Mr. Oh doesn't take his eyes off of her with his usual clueless smile. Insuk turns again to him and smiles, she asks for Baby's breath (the small flowers from the scene yesterday to compliment the rose, prior to the revelation of him not being the person who has been getting her flowers scenes). Mr. Oh is confused, then she asks, don't you sell baby's breath? This is the last scene we ever see or know of Insuk and Mr. Oh together. End of Deleted Scenes 1 of 2. __________________________________ - Unchan and Trot bring the many power of attorney signatures, but not enough to overthrow Seojun. Unchan asks Gramps to help bring more shareholders to Mrs. Na's side. - At the Ki household, everyone's around the table as the news of the bank book breaks. Everyone's amazed at how much it is. Unchan makes his decision, he'll do as Kim Jiwon asks... to use the money to buy a plot of land... so that he can design a big house for all of them to live in together. - Mr. Na visits Seojun in jail to tell Seojun that he won't find peace, and he's headed in the same path that he himself was on before. He asks Seojun how will he live with himself. Seojun remains unwavering. - Seojun's lawyer visits him in jail (in between the shareholder scenes, likely about business?). - Prior to the shareholder meeting, Unchan runs to intercept Mrs. Na before she goes in, he came to cheer her on so that she's confident when she goes in. She gives him a handkerchief to wipe his sweat. We don't see the meeting, only the results... Gramps comes out, with great pride and tells the shareholders his confidence in Mrs. Na. Because of his words in the meeting, he is able to move enough shareholders for Mrs. Na to become CEO. Gramps will be an important advisor in the company. In Mrs. Na's office, she tells Unchan she wants to transform the company into a social company to help more people in the community. She asks Unchan to help her. She's going to open a new department on traditional architecture of which Unchan will be an important factor in, but in the meantime he'll be working in the field to build his skills. Unchan calls her mother, she is pleased, then asks about another wedding with Trot and mentions how important a wedding dress is in a woman's life. - Dohui visits Seojun in prison. She tells him this is the best outcome, considering. Seojun won't have any of it, "this is the worst result. It's worthless." Dohui tells him he's been worthless all this time, and to ask himself where he's at now, who is in front of him now and who will be with him in the future. She asks him to give it real thought. - At the wedding shop while Trot is trying on dresses. Bongja can't get her eyes off the wedding dresses on display. Foreshadowing of what's to come in the final scenes. - Hyeongjeong and Dongchan are at the doctor's. The doctor tells them the good news that Hyeongjeong is pregnant. Hyeongjeong and Dongchan are thrilled. __________________________________ Deleted Scenes 2 of 2: At the Ki house, around the family table, Granny, Bunam, Bongja, Unchan and Trot look over the studio photo of Trot and Unchan in wedding attire. Only studio photos were done, no second wedding. Granny suggests Bongja and Bunam do the same since Bongja didn't get to have a wedding even after working all her life. Granny says, like Unchan and Trot, Bunam and Bongja can at least take photos instead of having a ceremony. Bonga is entranced with the photo, just as she was with the wedding dress while Trot was trying them on in an earlier scene. Bunam then asks Bongja if they should, but Bongja protests that it's ridiculous and they are too old for it. A case of no meaning yes. LOL! Bongja is delighted at seeing Unchan and Trot's picture, she's happy for them. She then asks, are photos enough, instead of having another real ceremony? She then points out now with Mrs. Na as CEO, she has social responsibilities to have a proper ceremony. Trot tells her (with Unchan smiling) not to say that since her mother's been insisting on that topic... the phone rings, it's Mrs. Na to try to talk about the situation again. Bongja says she doesn't blame Mrs. Na for wanting to show off Trot. End of Deleted Scenes 2 of 2. __________________________________ 1 Year Time Shift - Seojun is walking at the airport, Dohui intercepts him and tells him good work for paying for what he's done. She asks him if he's had tofu after leaving the jail. After speaking to Seojun's mother, Dohui gets them both tickets as she is going to Japan on business as well. Seojun is surprised, then smiles. They both leave. In preparation for the big event, several family members are getting ready to leave: - Doyeong is finishing up a freelance project and asks Jun who is on the computer to email it. - Dongchan and Hyeongjeong are late... Dongchan (who is carrying one baby) tells her to hurry. Dongchan asks if she has everything ready, she does not... she forgot the other baby in the room... Dongchan makes a note to baby #1 about Hyeongjeong being scatterbrained. Heyongjeong comes out of the room with baby # 2, and apologizes to the other baby for forgetting her. - Gwangho, Bokchan and their 2 kids are at the restaurant heading out. Both parents are on phones - on the other end, the person is telling Gwangho their restaurant will be featured as a hidden gem of the area; Bokchan is on the phone as a manager, the show Korea Sings wants Gachan on, but Gachan is busy that day for another show to give free legal advice. - All the close families (Ki, Na's, Hongs without Seojun and Dohui) arrive in a wedding ceremony in an open and green piece of land. In a surprise twist, wearing a wedding dress is Bongja! Bongja and Bunam stand as bride and groom in front, with Gachan officiating the ceremony. Bongja was too busy with work and raising 4 children to have a wedding... and after the rocky last few months... now is their time to reaffirm their lasting and enduring bond that has been the pillar of this family. They each place rings on each other's fingers. Bunam then sings a serenade for Bongja, similar to early in the series. Everyone's getting misty-eyed. - Moving on to the second part of the ceremony, the groundbreaking event. Gachan unrolls the design paper, revealing an artistic rendering of a grand estate of several large Hanok buildings which Mr. Na and Unchan designed. Gramps and Granny break the ground with shovels in hand, then.... Trot then clutches her stomach screaming... "I think the baby's coming!" Everyone rushes around Trot, while Trot is pulling Unchan's hair and twisting his head... The way Unchan`s bio-father was left unresolved was very disappointing. I`ve read that Smile Donghae had the highest ratings of recent dailies. With the same writers and some of the same actors, this one just lost dramatic tension after Susan left. Though, Bongja seemed more nervous than enjoying the moment - ONE year of jail for Seojun?? And Dohui stays in his life? Does anyone remember that. Don't know how he was in Likeable or Not (I think I pretty much skipped all KBS evening daily dramas after the one w/ Nam GoongMin), but in Moon and Stars for You, I just can't help rooting for the guy. Actually, both lead guys are great so far, whether one turns for the worse, will have to see. That said, I enjoyed this ending much more than the ending of the previous, My Bittersweet Life. Pros +: (in no special order) + Enjoyed the happy ending, albeit predictable aspects of the finale with most characters reaching a happy conclusion. + The story shifts to the finale with a combination groundbreaking ceremony and the real wedding Bongja and Bunam never got. Appropriate, after the very rocky history between them. I guess one Trot and Unchan wedding was really enough. LOL + With the groundbreaking ceremony, and Unchan and Mr. Na designing the family home, Unchan's dream from the early episodes is realized, he was able to craft with his own hands and make reality the impossible dream of housing the entire family for everyone. + The hopes of Gachan succeeding against the odds are visible and tangible. I have never been so happy in a daily to see a character succeed as Gachan has. A happy ending, well deserved. Go Gachan! Both his careers are doing well, he is wanting for nothing. Doyeong too is doing well, she is working freelance from home, able to juggle work and home life. A very pleasant and happy ending for Gachan's family. + Hyeongjeong and Dongchan having twins naturally. + Trot is pregnant too, and at the end of the final episode, looks like she's going to have a baby right to close the double ceremony. I won't make any ground and water breaking jokes, don't worry. + Bokchan and Gwangho have a successful restaurant, with Bokchan continuing successfully as Gachan's manager. + Seeing all the various moments throughout this series in the credits, I became nostalgic over the good moments we saw throughout the show. Neutral: OMG, I can't believe my prediction from a post while back came true, I thought Seojun would serve a short prison term of a year or two then come out with Dohui waiting for him a la Smile Donghae. I'm surprised given how evil Seojun got in the last stretch, the closer to the end we got, I thought he'd get a stiffer punishment. But it was for naught, after a 1 year term, Dohui was there for him. Also, it seems like Dohui and Seojun's mother have been in communication (hint, hint on their status) and Dohui intercepts him on his way to Japan with their tickets and goes with him on the same flight for a business trip. Their status is left open-ended, but based on their reaction at the airport, it seems like they will continue as partners both at work and outside. Major Minuses -: - Writing flaws that manifested most strongly in the final episode with plot holes and issues with the story pacing with it climaxing too early and like My Bittersweet Life, after the resolution of the big secret the next weeks/months... anticlimactic. - No Kim Jiwon visibly nor mentioned at all other than how to use the bank book. WHAT, Really??? I guess she went off to find the long and lost Unchan-secret-bio-father since no other character in the series cared! (Sarcasm) - Unchan's bio father a mystery and no character in the series cares to find out. I'm not buying it. They spent 70% of this series dedicated to Unchan finding his biological parents, and all the drama that ensued. But suddenly in the last 30 give or take episodes, suddenly all this is swept under the rug. - No resolution in the Insuk (Doyeong, Dohui's mother) storyline. Bongja got her the flowers out of admiration of how Insuk persevered without her husband, and then we saw a scene with Insuk walking by the flower shop prior to the 1 year time jump. But no real closure. The whole story that went on for weeks in this regard amounted to absolutely nothing. Total tease and misdirection. - No real punishment for Seojun, but more importantly, he had no contrition for his sins at all. No apology to anyone. Thus, it was symbolic that he and Dohui were not with the family or even in the country for the final celebratory scene. Overall, this was a tale of two series for me. Ask me what I thought during the earlier portions when there was a very cute and budding romance between Unchan and Trot, as well as a story to figure out and I'll say it was very good and that I didn't want this to end so soon... ask me what happened post-wedding with the story taking a complete gear change into something unrelated to the core of this series... and I'll say it was disappointing and that I was and am ready to move onto the next series. I wonder what happened to the series and characters that captured me initially? There were elements and characters (Gachan, Trot, Unchan) and storylines that I really enjoyed, but the final 30% of this series weighted it down in many respects (with exception to Gachan's storyline the saving grace). But then there were other factors that weighed this down with so many stories and situations that did not amount to anything (Gramps and Granny potential pairing), KJW issue, Insuk story at the end, Unchan's secret bio-father... Still, for all its flaws, I had fun watching this series all these months. It's fun having a continuous series to look forward to every weekday with characters and situations to like and dislike. This all was made all the more rewarding of a viewing especially thanks to all the members of this forum who participated and contributed in this thread with the variety of opinions and perspectives. I hope to see you all in the next daily! Onto the next series tomorrow night, Moon and Stars for You. I'll post a recap of MOaO finale with deleted scenes (if any) later, still need to watch the KXLA version and do some comparisons to see if there are any. What did you all think of the finale and of the series? nondisclosed_email@example.com (SuperRookie)Tue, 19 Jun 2012 21:22:30 +0000 Re: K-Drama: 당신 뿐이야 (My One and Only)https://bcjkdramasincalifornia.runboard.com/p2054947,from=rss#post2054947https://bcjkdramasincalifornia.runboard.com/p2054947,from=rss#post2054947Lex07, I'm with you. I don't see the ending being that satisfying. There are to many open-ended storylines going on and tonights episode being the last. I thought it was a really good Daily and it had several unforgettable characters. There was "Sua" (Lex07's favorite person to hate ). Looking forward to the finale tonight, hopefully we get an answer on the bio-father question that has been swept under the rug... nchristi good point, the subtitles were just wonky at this part... in one moment Insuk would be referring to "Mr. Ki" but then the next line she instead refers to the mysterious person as "Jun's Grandmother," when she was talking to Bunam about it after she said Mr. Ki, she switched to Mrs. Ki... no idea if we're victims of bad translation in this whole set of scenes... LOL, if this were a western series, I'd joke that maybe Bongja decided to switch teams after Bunam's months of silence and annoying nature, but I'll stop and behave. This writer sure likes to toy with us viewers, since the get-go so many misdirections. I'm going to be quite mad if nothing happens after all these scenes with the rose mystery then all the scenes between her and Mr. Oh. Not a fan of teases going nowhere. nsheldon Ah, I think I missed that one... I think the only series I saw him on was Brain. I hope you end up enjoying or don't skip the next daily. Ki isn't Bongja's last name, it is Bunam and the children's last name. However, the translators many times use the wrong names so Americans will understand. Example, they might call Bongja "Mrs. Ki," when her legal last name is not her husband's but her father's. I found that scene to be very odd. Why in the world would Bongja be secretly sending red roses to Ms. Hong? That doesn't make any sense to me. I would think it might be Gachan before it would be Bongja. Unless it is Gramps. Maybe he had Unchan take care of the daily order for the rose. Gramps isn't an in-law, but Unchan might be construed as one, being an in-law as Doyeong's brother. On the other hand, maybe Mr. Oh is just lying! Maybe he's fibbing because of his extreme shyness. This subject is unworth all this. nondisclosed_email@example.com (nchristi)Tue, 19 Jun 2012 16:18:47 +0000 Re: K-Drama: 당신 뿐이야 (My One and Only)https://bcjkdramasincalifornia.runboard.com/p2054934,from=rss#post2054934https://bcjkdramasincalifornia.runboard.com/p2054934,from=rss#post2054934 class blockquote pali wrote: Of the young leads in this show the only reason I watched was to see the actress who played Dohui. The actor who played Dojin is very, very good. Can't wait to see him in I Do, I Do after what nsheldon said, sounds like a fun role for a change. Are you satisfied with the progression of Dohui as a character throughout this series? I'd like to see Park Jung Ah in a shorter prime time drama as a lead character, she is an excellent actress. Personally one of my bigger disappointments of this series is the handling of Dohui as a character. She started out interesting... The writing of this series and focus of this series shifted in the last few months and started to break down in my opinion. One of the casualties was Dohui - who became a shadow compared to her interesting character in the earlier episodes and not given the opportunity to evolve or showcase her acting chops... then the once independent character became a total Seojun-dependent... almost like a Trot character. The same thing happened to Unchan and Trot who I liked for much of this series. After the wedding, they became almost pointless with no real story and one dimensional, so much so, easily overshadowed by Gachan who became the saving grace of the last month's of episodes in at least having some sort of a point in these last 20+ episodes.nondisclosed_email@example.com (SuperRookie)Tue, 19 Jun 2012 14:32:15 +0000 Re: K-Drama: 당신 뿐이야 (My One and Only)https://bcjkdramasincalifornia.runboard.com/p2054932,from=rss#post2054932https://bcjkdramasincalifornia.runboard.com/p2054932,from=rss#post2054932NSheldon, Actually, I liked the actor who played the Hotel son in Smile and have liked him in everything he has done because of his acting. That would be hilarious. nsheldon on the main character of the next daily of your dislike, is it because of his role in Brain or a previous series? Yeah, I Do, I Do is coming in 2 months, after King 2 Hearts which replaces Moon Embracing Sun this week. lex07 the scene last night with Insuk and Mr. Oh was not in the KXLA/KBS America version? I'll include that information on my recap, in case it was missed by KXLA viewers. Oh, and it looks like the gods might be looking with favor on you, after you missed the wedding episode, there was talk by Mr. and Mrs. Na in last night's episode of a potential second wedding for show since Mrs. Na was embarrassed she had no money to provide a big wedding for her daughter. Monday night's Episode 127 of 128 - Seojun is cuffed and put in a temporarily detaining cell. Trot visits him and tries to get him to formally apologize for his actions towards the Ki family, he doesn't but the facade of Seojun has cracked, the bravado is gone. He tells her he doesn't want to feel this miserable in front of her. Trot tells Unchan that she is saddened to feel this way but seeing him locked up doesn't feel great. Unchan can't share her feelings but tries to comfort her. - Mr. Kim calls Gachan into work asking him to accept the offer to rejoin the Law firm again. He's prepared Gachan real business cards and says he's ordered him a name plate. Gachan is delighted once he sees his name on the card, but then hides it and asks for a few conditions. He wants his pay back to where it was before and not to accept cases where they throw away their conscience and justice... and that's just for starters! - Jun's mom, teacher and the bullies moms are in a school meeting to discuss what they can do to prevent the bullying issue from cropping up again. - Granny is enjoying Bokchan not here since she gets to have a room to herself. When Bokchan and her family come later on to reclaim their room, Granny is visibly sad. Apparently her other elder friends are teasing her at the community center that she rude for having no concern for rooming with her Son and DIL in the same room. - Kim Jiwon calls Bongja to discuss something secret (buying a house or just giving Unchan the bankbook?), but Bongja says it's a decision that can't be made easily, she'll then says she will talk with Bunam about it. - Gramps and Mr. Na treat Gachan to lunch as thanks for what he did to clear them and bring justice to Seojun. Trot gives Gachan a microphone gift. - Dohui visits Gachan at the police station and tells him he needs to eat to stay strong. He's miserable and tells her with his shares he can sell Mirae, then asks her to leave. But as she leaves, he looks at her with regret. - The Na family are at Gramp's workshop. Mr. Na is protective of Mrs. Na from Gramps' light scolding - he's definitely trying to get on her good side again after the rift between them for those months. Mr. Na mentions given Seojun's shares, it won't be easy to drive him out. Mrs. Na mentions they can try to convince minority share holders, a task that Unchan and Trot take on. Mr. Na then says after they get rid of Seojun and Mrs. Na becomes CEO, Unchan and Trot can have another wedding. Mrs. Na is pleased as she was going to suggest that. Unchan agrees to give it thought. Gramps says they don't need another one. Unchan says but mother wanted a fabulous wedding. Mr. Na enters his wife's room with wine and two glasses. They both drink and for the first time since losing their home, they sleep in the same room with Mr. Na either faking or is truly buzzed from the wine. - Dohui's drinking alone in the Kitchen and Doyeong walks in. Doyeong asks if she's upset over the Seojun situation. Dohui says after Seojun is released she wants to rejoin him as his work partner. Gachan then walks in thinking this is just work and is amazed by her loyalty. But after she leaves, Doyeong tells him that she might have feelings for Seojun. Gachan starts to get upset, but Doyeong tells him she and her mom will handle it, and he needs to stay out of it. - Unchan and Trot start on trying to get the minority shareholders power of attorney signatures. Sometimes to success, sometimes to failure. - Dongchan and Hyeongjeong are spending time outside biking on a wonderfully pretty picturesque day. He then asks her with how hard the in vitro process has been maybe they should just be satisfied with the two of them. As a random baby stroller passes by, Hyeongjeong lights up with excitement and goes to the baby. Dongchan notices how happy she is and he smiles... "Fine, it may be hard, but let's give it a go." - Insuk and Mr. Oh and the case of the flowers. OMG, the worst thing seems like it'll happen? In a post a few weeks ago, I wondered with fear if this all could be a misdirection by the writer and it wasn't really Mr. Oh or Gramps and that she could be getting the flowers for a trivial reason. I'm a bit annoyed after all the weeks of teasing of us viewers... with apparently nothing. Insuk visits Mr. Oh's flower shop and sees him singing with guitar in hand. She musters the courage to meet him as she made him lunch. After being coy and trying to smooth talk her way to him... once again she is met with his blank look. Enough dancing around the subject, she dives in and tells him she knows it's been him delivering the flowers. He tells her she has the wrong idea, then in his usual laugh like he's hiding something... then he says he was only delivering it. Insuk keeps prodding until he tells who, he wouldn't say specifically but he then says her In law made him promise never to tell her. Insuk returns to her office and is visibly embarrassed about getting the wrong idea. She wonders why Bongja would have ordered and had the flowers left... Bunam then walks in and they eventually discuss it. She asks him about the flowers and why Jun's grandmother (Bongja) has been sending her roses. Bunam has no idea... she tells him not to tell Bongja. Was this really it? What a dirty misdirection from the writer. LOL! Keeping us engrossed with this part of the storyline and guessing who it could be, then once we thought it was Mr. Oh, now the potential is no romantic story at all between them? Hopefully at the last episode Mr. Oh will surprise us as he's developed feelings after spending time with Insuk. But as of now, just wow. The writer has been doing this a lot throughout the series... nothing is ever what it appears. LOL - Gachan is singing at store openings. Mr. Song tells Bokchan she's reducing his value because now he has the main slot at the club and has taken over Boksun's position at the club. Gachan rejects it as he wants to do all of this his ethical way in the business. Boksun is thrilled. - At work Gachan is getting clients who wanted to speak to him about their legal issues after hearing him on the radio. Gachan asks Mr. Kim to handle the coffee. LOL! Turn around is fair play. - When Bunam returns home, Bongja tells him KJW called to do "this" the secret they won't spell out for us. Apparently it's been on her mind and she wants to go through treatment in peace. It's related to the bank account, but what exactly? Assuming to get a new house for the entire family, to solve all their internal conflicts and space issues as of late. LOL - Bongja and Bunam go into Unchan's room later in the night and wake him and Trot up. Bongja shows under them the loose flap on the floor and takes out the bankbook and hands it to Unchan. Unchan opens it and his eyes bug out in shock with the amount of money he's seeing in it. End of episode. Final Episode tonight!nondisclosed_email@example.com (SuperRookie)Tue, 19 Jun 2012 11:41:17 +0000 Re: K-Drama: 당신 뿐이야 (My One and Only)https://bcjkdramasincalifornia.runboard.com/p2054924,from=rss#post2054924https://bcjkdramasincalifornia.runboard.com/p2054924,from=rss#post2054924Think Dohui's mom may still hook up with the florist. By sending flowers every day (from Mrs Ki to Dohui's mother) it did introduce the florist with Dohui's mom (seriously... do not know her name). Seojun gets arrested and still has the nerve to keep looking back to glare at Unchan and Mr Na. I would think he would be too humiliated or embarrassed to face them after all he's done. Dohui is not going to give up on that Snake either. How could she go after him thinking they could be happy together when he would (remotely) be related to those he has wronged? Totally ridiculous. He should do time in prison then go to Japan and live quietly with his mother. SPeaking of Snake's mother... Mrs Na made a comment that the mother was on her way to Korea. Wonder if they'll show her? New drama: I have a pre dislike of the main male character. I hope I can get over it. I couldn't stand Hotel Boy from Smile Donghae but watching him online in 'I Do I Do' I've totally forgiven him. He was the hateful hotel son in Smile Donghae.. then he was the emotionally and physically abused other guy in Glory Jane (I was so impressed with how pitiful he was in that... so well acted by this actor) ... and now doing comedy in 'I Do I Do' and he's at his best in this one. I'll watch it again w/the board if they show it in this area. I really enjoyed tonight's Episode 126. Certainly my favorite episode since the wedding episode. If only more of the episodes in the last month were like this. It was packed with a lot of of great moments... not to mention the rewarding visual of Seojun being cuffed as the only remaining suspect left in the Jiwon case. Though at times the episode was somewhat tarnished by Bongja's usual behavior cropping up. Despite her issues, it was nice to see the nicer side of her again when she's actually happy. One could visibly see the happiness radiating from her versus the usual gloom, Jung Ae Ri is such a great actress. It's also pleasant to see Bokchan doing something productive. She's in her element as a manager - pushy and good at promoting when needed. If idle hands are the devil's tools, when she's focused lately, at least there's less time for her to cause trouble. Episode 126: - At the radio break, Bokchan enters the studio booth to cheer Gachan on and tell him Bongja and the whole family are listening. "Fighting!" At home listening to the radio, Granny with, Bongja and Trot (who have their hands held together nervously). Gachan answers the caller with great care, understanding, and likability. The caller has major issues with her MIL, after he answers her, he then ties it as an opportunity to score some brownie points with Bongja - he says on air that he'd like her MIL to talk to his mother on how to be a great MIL who is loved by her three DIL. RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT. LOL Granny tells Bongja she must be pleased that because of her son, the whole country thinks she's the best mother. Bongja is radiating pride and is all smiles. Now, it would be nice if she could try living up to that honor as we approach the ending. Insuk is also listening to the show at her office and is beaming great pride with her SIL, he's the best lawyer in Korea, she claims. - After the radio show, the radio producer tells everyone (Gachan, Bokchan, Mr. Song, Boksun) the response after the show with Gachan's legal advice was great. Bokchan requests if they could play Gachan's song, "Only You," the producer agrees and thanks Gachan for helping them out of the jam. Both the radio host and the producer are impressed by Gachan. - Bongja just doesn't know when to be satisfied. This time she drags Doyeong to discuss the issue. She wants Doyeong to handle and pressure Gachan to stop his singing aspirations/career. During their discussion, both of them get calls from acquaintances to praise Gachan's radio stint. This further solidifies Bongja's stance that Gachan needs to continue on the path of law. - At Mr. Song's studio, calls are coming in about Gachan's legal performance as well. Mr. Song then goes to his laptop to check online reaction with the singing aspects... Gachan's new song "Only You" is a huge success as well! - Bongja doesn't want people complimenting Gachan's singing talents to further sway him. She tells Trot that, and later on goes to Insuk's office to tell her as well. At the visit, Insuk is very proud and tells Bongja about all the calls coming in about his legal show appearance. Then she brags that one of Gachan's lines, "I see" to demonstrate empathy is a line she uses a lot and one that Gachan got from her. LOL! Bongja's response... "I see." LOL! Insuk laughs and compliments her wit. Bongja then tells her that he was born for the legal field. Insuk then says when she listens to Gachan she feels he's a born singer as well. Bongja then tells her, he listens to her more... and asks that she doesn't compliment him on his singing as that's what she and Doyeong want. Insuk understands and accepts her decision of focusing on his legal abilities instead. - Bongja goes to Hyeongjeong's place to bring food. Trot tells her the recent news before she goes. Bongja tries to lift her spirits by telling her it'll happen in due time, and the stall is only maybe because the baby is preparing to be born as pretty as Hyeongjeong is. Hyeongjeong tears up, then Bongja tells her not to cry, as she's pretty when she smiles. Hyeongjeong is in a better mood as a result. Bongja then brags how Gachan said on radio that she's loved by all her daughters in law, and how everyone's calling her to find her secret. - At the supermarket , Insuk bumps into Mr. Oh. She asks him if he'd like her to make beef stew for him... he declines. He doesn't like meat. She tells him to tell her if there's anything he'd like her to make for him. Again, he politely declines... saying he doesn't want to impose. Then we see Mr. Oh get two huge bulk-packaging instant noodles, a suggestion he doesn't eat well or no one cooks for him? Insuk then asks him if he's seeing anyone right now. He says no and laughs. She then asks if he should introduce him to someone. He is surprised then looks at her blankly with his smile frozen. She asks if he likes women who are like roses? He says plainly, no. She tries to get him to open up more with a few statements and acts quite girlish. Then she goes in with the big move, she asks "What about someone like me?" Again he looks at her in that dazed and confused look and his smile turns into a smile-hybrid-laugh.... then he asks where are the bean sprouts? Insuk wonders if she was too forward. Then they look for the sprouts... then off on the side Jun and Dohui are also shopping and Jun points out grandma and the sheriff man. Dohui looks surprised as she sees Insuk really happy. I don't know what to make of Mr. Oh in this scene, he's either excellent at putting on a dumb act or the shyest person ever or the most clueless person ever. LOL - At Insuk's house, Gachan and Doyeong are discussing the situation again and she wants him to pursuit singing only as a hobby. Gachan wants to for the first time pursuit his own happiness on a career of his choosing, versus the expectations of him as the eldest. Gachan complains of the pressures placed on him. When Dohui, Jun, Insuk get back home, Gachan and Doyeong dart into their room as if they are fighting. Insuk is wondering why she's so upset. Dohui says, "You're the only one who's been in a good mood lately", she cracks a smile then asks if her mother's been seeing anyone lately. Insuk is flustered. Jun then says they saw her with sheriff man (Mr. Oh) at the market. Dohui smiles and wonders... Favorite scenes: 1) The Ki men go out for some male bonding to drink at a tent bar to discuss Gachan's problems. It was a heartwarming scene displaying the unmatched power of family - when the chips are down - Bunam, the three sons, and Gwangho were all there for each other to lift each other up and forget the more worrisome troubles of the day. Dongchan starts up on what's been eating him as of late, the family putting him last. He speaks up at his constant unfair treatment. Gachan tries to lift the mood and gets his empty glass up to be filled, and says now they can use this time to comfort Dongchan. Dongchan continues to complain that he's always last in priority. Gwangho recounts how when they were younger, Bunam ran to the hospital barefoot and bleeding to stay with Dongchan until he woke up from the accident. As Dongchan listens to everyone's account of it, he is moved at his father's care of him that he never realized. 2) They're all pretty drunk at this point and decide to all go home together to the Ki family house. They are all in high spirits. Bunam brags about his wealth, not financial wealth, but having his four sons in his life. LOL, but out of the blue he mentions he doesn't need $2.5 million... viewer reminder of its existence hint. LOL As they come stumbling in the house, they all dash to Bongja's room to hug her and sleep next to her. Bunam jokingly calls them traitors, and leaves to go to Granny's room. Very nice scene to see the familial love for the mother, Bongja... even though she brought up Gachan's singing issue, it wasn't enough to ruin the fine mood. Gwangho was able to get in on the act by calling Bongja mom, vs. mother. Everyone laughs, Bongja's smiling. LOL, Gachan then says as the eldest, he commands everyone to stay here and not go looking for their wives tonight. Everyone promises and they all go to sleep in complete joy. Later on, cute as can be, Trot is prowling about and meowing. She opens the door and wakes Unchan and drags him away. Dongchan wakes and notices it, then says Traitor. But then he too leaves and goes home then snuggles with his wife. Gachan too is seen coming back home to do the same. Gwangho is the only one who is remaining the next day. LOL!! Bongja awakes to notice all her sons gone... then scoffs, yeah, I'm a mother in law who's loved by her daughters and how she should laugh this off. She then properly covers Gwangho in the blanket like a caring mother would. Delightful set of two scenes! Ending scene: - Mr. Na calls Unchan to announce the news that he's been confirmed innocent! Unchan then asks him if the DNA employee is going to the police station today. The next scene shows the DNA employee outside the police station about to go in, but Seojun shows up to try to stop him. Unchan and Mr. Na show up as well and stop Seojun - Seojun is told to face the truth. The police are with them behind, and with a warrant for Seojun's arrest for the Kim Jiwon kidnapping case. With Mr. Na cleared, I guess all signs and evidence solidly point to Seojun. The police cuff Seojun. Seojun and Unchan stare each other down. End of episode! The end is upon us early next week. 2 Episodes remaining. nondisclosed_email@example.com (SuperRookie)Sat, 16 Jun 2012 00:17:58 +0000 Re: K-Drama: 당신 뿐이야 (My One and Only)https://bcjkdramasincalifornia.runboard.com/p2054837,from=rss#post2054837https://bcjkdramasincalifornia.runboard.com/p2054837,from=rss#post2054837Thanks for the detailed summary, SuperRookie. It was as good as watching the episode on TV! nondisclosed_email@example.com (nchristi)Fri, 15 Jun 2012 19:00:19 +0000 Re: K-Drama: 당신 뿐이야 (My One and Only)https://bcjkdramasincalifornia.runboard.com/p2054834,from=rss#post2054834https://bcjkdramasincalifornia.runboard.com/p2054834,from=rss#post2054834Does anyone know the name of the actor who plays Song Chibong? He looks familiar, but I can't quite place him. Mostly I want to find out which series I've seen him before, if I have. He's doing a great job for this very eccentric and oddball character. LOL! nchristi, prior to that scene in last night's episode, her numbers went down on her second blood test, and a third test seemed unnecessary. When they got the results of the first test, Dongchan cautioned not to get their hopes up yet. With her numbers going down on the second test does that mean it was a miscarriage or was she not pregnant in the first place? Thursday night's Episode 125: - LOL in Bongja's anger at seeing Gachan on stage, she shoves off Bunam in front of her. I had to rewind it several times. Bongja creates a spectacle on stage shouting he needs to come home now. Dongchan carries her and drags her away to the backroom. Dongchan points to Bokchan as the root of this problem, and Bongja starts chasing her around. The riot continues backstage where Bongja turns her anger towards Mr. Song, until Gachan came back to stop it. Bongja slaps Gachan and tries to slap him again but couldn't. They all take her home and Bongja looks drained of any energy, she asks Gachan to promise to stop doing this. Bunam interjects that he is old enough to have his own life. Bongja retorts that this is why he needs to do (the right thing in her view) without having to be told, and that he's been doing so well up to now with him studying hard without her having to tell him.... how proud she has been of him. She asks him to satisfy her vanity so that she isn't left with nothing. Bokchan then shows her his debut CD and says he can be more successful as the singing lawyer. Bongja throws it to the ground and stomps on it. Gachan looks at the broken CD, perhaps a symbol of his broken feelings. Bongja isn't done, she then blames Bokchan for this, and driving Gachan out to live with his MIL (as if to suggest none of this would have happened if Gachan stayed under their roof and focused on his legal career). Bokchan's feelings get hurt as she is told to leave and she speaks up about Gwangho's living in fear to the point of shaking when these bouts of drama happen, she then storms out with Gwangho running after her. Everyone is either in tears or greatly shaken. - Bokchan is at Dongchan's place to cool off. Dongchan deserves his moniker of Dumbchan, once again puts his foot in his mouth by starting on Bokchan for being Gachan's manager and egging him on to this, and then piles it on Gwangho for losing his business. Hyeongjeong tells him to stop, especially with Gwangho having the dream about them having babies. Bokchan without asking, demands and forces her way into staying with Dongchan for the time being (the music turns comedic at this point). LOL! - Gachan and Unchan are by the river with the fabled Red Bridge we see so often. Unchan tries to cheer him up, telling him he always viewed him as the best and how proud he is of him. Gachan believes that he can do both legal and singing work. Gachan's relieved that the truth is out, at least. - Gachan goes home (MIL's) wearing his sequenced jacket and everyone's surprised he's dressed like that. Dohui asks if he was singing in a club. Gachan admits to it. Everyone's surprised, but he says he'll tell them the details tomorrow. Even after Gachan tells them he's exhausted and specifically stated that they can talk about it tomorrow given all that has happened... Doyeong starts up on him after he came back from washing, but after he remained firm, she drops it. She stares at the debut Gachan CD... then calls Trot to find out more. Unchan tries to put her mind at rest that he's not giving up being a lawyer.... a crashing sound happens in the kitchen. Doyeong rushes there to see Dohui trying to practice cooking so she can make lunch for Seojun. - Bunam can't sleep, especially with Bongja not in the room. He goes out of the room to look for her to see her in the courtyard alone in thought. - We see Gachan too later, unable to sleep as he walks out of his room with his jacket. The next day at breakfast, Insuk, Dohui, Doyeong and Jun are eatting. Insuk's looking at Gachan's CD and compliments how Gachan looks great. Dohui tells her to stop given Doyeong's looking lost and unhappy. Insuk tries lift her up, and tells her that Gachan won't be giving up his lawyer profession. Jun says he likes that his dad sings, it's cool. They then talk about the CD crack and its result due to Bongja finding out. - Gachan shows up at the Ki household to try to mend things with Bongja. She receives him with silence. Gachan's phone rings and it's Mr. Kim wanting him back - Gachan asks for more time to think about going back. Trot tries to make the situation better by telling Bongja that Gachan's playing hard to get, given he is in demand. Mr. Kim also starts to mention that Bunam met him some days ago. Bongja follows him out to tell him to stop the singing gig and return to his legal job. - Bokchan is laying down, looking unhappy. Gwangho is cooking everyone breakfast. Dongchan starts on him about not trying to slither in to sleep here again tonight. Ugh. Dumbchan. - Gachan and Bunam talk about his visit to Mr. Kim. Gachan asks if Mr. Kim treated Bunam well when he visited. He tells Bunam that Mr. Kim has asked him to return, but he needs to give it more thought. Gachan then tells him, singing Trot music means a lot to him now, as much as his legal work. Bunam tells him to take the legal job back while they convince Bongja about singing. Bongja tells trot to tell Gachan that this place is off-limits to him (until he changes his mind). Granny is shocked when she hears this as she wanted him to stay for breakfast. - At Mirae, Mrs. Na is holding a private meeting in her office with a few executives to discuss Seojun's removal. The executives are still divided and fearful that Seojun has a strong grip on the company. Mrs. Na says she'll come up with a way to turn things around. At Seojun's office he's talking to his mom telling her not to worry about the rumors swirling. - Gramps tells Unchan to take charge of the blueprints given that he came up with the solution. Unchan is pleased. Mr. Na then storms in with good news, he just got his first commissioned project since his removal as CEO, Mr. Na is proud that he still "got it". Gramps isn't impressed, but Mr. Na is very happy and he talks about the job and what he'll do with great passion. Perhaps the old Mr. Na is returning, the architectural wizard that once dazzled Unchan... before Mr. Na became too focused on the demands and corruptions of the CEO position where he lost his initial passion? Mr. Na says he's as excited now as he felt when he designed their home for his family years ago. His excitement is contagious, Gramps acknowledges him and says to Unchan that his Father In Law is about to do some good work. - Trot and Gwangho are promoting the new rice cake recipe on the street. Granny is delighted at the goings on. Bokchan walks up and tells Trot she's been causing so much trouble after the marriage that she finally came up with a helpful little idea. Granny comes down on her. Granny takes Bongja's side that she shouldn't have egged Gachan on to work as a singer. - Mr. Song calls Bokchan for good news. He's pulled some strings and landed Gachan an exclusive radio appearance at that show where Gachan competed in before. Bokchan is happy but then wonders what will happen if Bongja hears of this. - Hyeongjeong is on the phone with the hospital asking how the new round of blood tests went. They tell her the numbers went down. She asks if it's useless to wait for the results of the third test... she starts to tear up and tells Dongchan what will she do. "I think I failed." Trot brings food that Bongja made for her and tries to feed her. Hyeongjeong can't think of food after the sad news. - Mr. Song comes up with an idea to for Gachan - If he dedicates his success and tells of his love to Bongja on radio, it'll move her to accept his singing career. - Seojun is on the phone with the DNA employee he bribed, trying to get him out of the country again. The employee tells him he's going to admit everything and turn himself in and hangs up on Seojun. Dohui comes to his office with food, but he tells her to get out. She doesn't listen to him. Seojun glares at her, then leaves. - At the radio station, with Gachan, Mr. Song and company waiting for their show to start... one of the other program's guest lawyer isn't able to make it at the last minute. There is talk on where they'll find a lawyer. Mr. Song says we have a lawyer here, and so does Bokchan, both of them drag Gachan up and sign him up for it. Bokchan tells him if he goes on the radio as a lawyer, it'll soothe Bongja's anger. - Gachan is at the other radio show and introduces himself as an attorney. Theme song starts to play. End of episode. 3 episodes remaining.nondisclosed_email@example.com (SuperRookie)Fri, 15 Jun 2012 16:35:41 +0000
