Re: 3/11/2011 Sendai Earthquake
Ah, that's good news. I was wondering when they would return some of their regular programming. If they run the disaster too much, for too long, the public becomes calloused to it and many lose their initial passion for helping, etc. I was thinking the coverage had pretty much reached that point, especially since so much of it was repeats. I look forward to daily updates, however.
Another program I have really been glued to is the "Today's Close-up" program. It is usually hosted by the middle-aged woman with the short hair cut. The format is to cover one particular subject in-depth, with one or two in-studio guest experts who are questioned and add their commentary. It has been focused on the earthquake/tsunami, of course.
I find "Today's Close-Up" is really excellent and clearly presented with graphics, etc., enabling a broad understanding of whatever it is they are covering—the details of what's happened/happening at the nuclear sites, how medical care is being coordinated and dispensed at the local shelter level, the problems, the real and personal circumstances individuals find themselves in. Much more 'up close and personal' view of what the towns and people are enduring and dealing with, how local authorities are trying to cope and organize things. They're already getting quite a bit done, actually, considering the enormity of the destruction and reorganization/rebuilding that is required.
