Hi yobiworld. This board (CJKDramas.com), and this thread are about dramas and stations available in Southern California, not the New York area.

A number of our members are from your area, though, and perhaps someone will be able to give you the answers you are looking for. I notice you have been at the Korean Drama Group (New Jersey/New York area) discussion on converter boxes. I wish we here in SoCal could help you more, but perhaps we cannot.

Just a heads up, Lawyers of the Great Republic of Korea has replaced Spotlight. It started on Tuesday 1/27, so today, Thursday is episode 3. It's shown 3 times a day during the Spotlight spot. The most accessible times without a recorder or DVR is noon and 11 pm.

It's pretty interesting so far. I'm just hoping they don't change the time slot again.

I just happen to be flipping through the Korean channels when LA 18.1 was showing an ad for what I think is an SBS channel for what seemed to be the LA18 family of channels. What ever it was it had a 9 in between the Korean letters but no month. It did have SBS over the LA18 logo, so maybe they'll be adding another Korean station. I tried checking the LA18 website but there's nothing so far. Maybe it's just in the planning stage.

I think this is the info you were looking for Aidhmg: SBS International Article

LA18 KSCI-TV AND SBS INTERNATIONAL ESTABLISH LONG TERM PROGRAMMING ARRANGEMENT
LA18 to Broadcast 7 Days a Week Korean Programming from SBS

Los Angeles—LA18 KSCI-TV (LA18) is changing its primetime Korean program lineup to take effect on February, 23, 2009. LA18 has secured a long-term agreement with highly-acclaimed broadcaster Seoul Broadcasting System (SBS) to provide the Los Angeles Korean community with the best of SBS programming.

New SBS programming will air from 9:00pm to 11:30pm, 7 days a week. The lineup will begin at 9:00pm with LA18 Local News / SBS Korean International News, followed by top-rated English-subtitled dramas at 10:00pm, and variety shows at 11:00pm.

This is the first time that Los Angeles viewers will be able to watch programming from SBS, Korea’s leading network, on a free, over-the-air channel. With this new arrangement, Los Angeles viewers will have access to programs from the network that has produced award-winning dramas such as The King & I, On Air, Money War, Tazza, and The Painter of Wind. The network also has a slate of enormously popular entertainment variety shows such as Sunday is Good, Ya-Sim-Man-Man, Star-King, Entertainment News Live and many more. SBS presents a new wave of innovative Korean entertainment programs which enhance the television viewing experience for the community.

“We are honored to partner with Korea’s premier network, SBS. This arrangement will allow us to provide the community with the best of Korean language programming from Korea. We will also work closely with SBS International to reach out and further strengthen our relationship with the community,” said Peter Mathes, CEO of AsianMedia Group, LA18’s parent company.

“LA18 has served the hearts and minds of the Korean American community in Los Angeles and San Diego for over 30 years. Seoul Broadcasting System is extremely grateful and proud to have this opportunity to offer our programming on this exceptional channel and we look forward to working with LA18 to be the voice of Korea here in the U.S.”, said Sang Y. Chun, CEO of SBS International, Inc.

On an interim basis, LA18 will air the hour-long SBS News Wide at 9:00pm. Beginning in late March, LA18 will produce and broadcast its own half-hour Korean local news, which will be followed by a half-hour of SBS news from Korea. Building upon LA18’s strong reputation for production of high quality local news in Asian communities, the new “LA18 Korean Local News” will raise the bar for quality local news production in the Korean American community.

Program information is available on www.la18.tv and www.sbs-int.com.

About LA18 / KSCI-TV
Founded in 1976, LA18 is Southern California's #1 Asian-language TV station bringing news and entertainment, in 12 languages, to the largest U.S. Asian market – composed of 2.6 million Asian consumers. LA 18 airs daily local news in Mandarin, Korean, and Vietnamese and produces daily variety shows in Mandarin and Tagalog. LA 18's over-the-air signal covers 6.3 million TV households in the Los Angeles and San Diego television markets. LA18 is also a must-carry station on cable systems, DirecTV and DISH Network in the Los Angeles television market. In 2008, LA 18 launched a Suite of Asian Digital Channels, providing 24/7, free over-the-air Cantonese, Mandarin, Korean, Vietnamese and Armenian Channels to the community. For more information, please visit www.LA18.tv.

--------------------------------------------------
I took a check at the LA-18 TV schedule for the 23rd of Feb, and it looks like MBC programming will no longer be airing on the 18.1.

SBS Morning Wide News starts @ 9PM, followed by the drama Terroir at 10PM (airs Mon-Thurs), drama Celebrity Lover on Friday @ 10PM, drama Lost of Wife (could it actually be Lure of Wife?) @ 10PM on Saturday, with a SBS variety program at 11PM-11:30PM.

Edited SBS article URL to fit page width

Huh? MBC programming no longer on 18.1 does that mean MBC programming still on 18.3 excluding new k-drama and other programming? why can't new programming on 18.3 like KBS America (World)? KBS World (Time Warner Cable ) is better than MBCD for other reason. lol

Also I notice 18.6 (Top TV) is off the air again, is something wrong?

I saw a scrolling message while flipping thru LA-18/18.1 about MBC programming being moved to 18.3 starting 2/23. I don't know how this will affect MBC-D's schedule at the moment. Since MBC programming during KTAN time bloc doesn't carry subtitles, at least MBC-D will carry the eventual dramas with subs.
