Re: J-Star: 仲間由紀惠 (なかま ゆきえ) Nakama Yukie

Looks like Yukie is starring in another historical style drama! Now she's starring as the wife of Hideyoshi. Should be interesting to watch, it'll correspond nicely with the taiga Atsu-hime since both deal with the wives of former "heads of state" in Japan. I wonder if they'll air it here? Maybe UTB or Magicbell were choose to air.

I doubt if it will ever air here, it is a 10 hour long marathon that begins at 2:00 p.m. in the afternoon and usually ends around midnight... only for the really hardcore fans. The show is so long that you'll be able to watch Yukie go from a young 14 year old to a 74 year old obaachan.emoticon If they do air it here, it would most likely be cut up into one hour episodes.

Ahh, 10 hours long?? emoticon Here I thought that it was 10 hours in total, so something like ten one-hour episodes aired throughout January. That's pretty tough to sit through something for 10 hours! Though it would be interesting and pretty cool to see Nakama Yukie grow throughout the course of many years into an obachan! emoticon

It would be cool if UTB or Magicbell aired it - it would be a nice compliment to the taiga. Though like you mentioned they will probably have to cut it into ten one hour episodes.

Nakama, Kase to star in Fuji TV series

October 22, 2008
Nakama Yukie and Kase Ryo will co-star in a Fuji TV drama series this winter. Titled Arifureta Kiseki, the show will be the first series written by Yamada Taichi in 11 years. Yamada's last serial was TBS's Fuzoroi no Ringotachi 4 in 1997, though he has written many tanpatsu dramas since then. He has reportedly stated that this will be his last time writing a series.

Arifureta Kiseki focuses on a woman (Nakama) living with her parents and grandmother, and a man (Kase) living with his father and grandfather. The story follows the ways that their ordinary lives and family ties begin to change after their encounter.

The show premieres on Fuji TV this January. It will air in the network's Thursday 10:00pm time slot.

Bubu, thanks for the info about Nakama Yukie's new series! It'll be interesting to see her star in this drama along with Kase Ryo. I don't think we've seen him in many dramas before, but it looks like he's been acting in very many films over the years. His DramaWiki page mentioned that he was also in the movie Letters from Iwo Jima.

I wish we could see this series here! Its been a while since we've seen a Nakama Yukie drama on TV.

J-Movie: 私は貝になりたい Watashi wa Kai ni Naritai (I Want to Be a Shellfish)

J-Movie: Watashi wa Kai ni Naritai・私は貝になりたい・I Want to Be a Shellfish

Image

Watashi wa Kai ni Naritai is a 2008 Japanese movie based on a Kato Tetsutaro novel. Also known as I Want to Be a Shellfish, the work was originally written as a drama special in 1958, starring Frankie Sakai. The following year, it was turned into a highly-acclaimed feature-length film. It was also later remade as another drama special in 1994, starring George Tokoro.

The new film is being directed by Katsuo Fukuzawa and screenwriter Shinobu Hashimoto (who wrote the script for the original drama).

Nakama Yukie-san, happy birthday! emoticon

Bubu, thanks for the Yukie wallpaper! That scene in the wallpaper is one of my favorite scenes of all time in Trick! It was such a funny and well-done show -- Abe Hiroshi and Nakama Yukie did a great job in the drama.

The movie I Want to Be a Shellfish sounds very sad but interesting at the same time. It looks like the novel has been remade into a number of films and dramas over the years, so it'll be interesting to see this new 2008 adaption. I think Yukie will do a great job -- she's a great comedy actress, but she's done a wonderful job in dramatic roles too.

Naki Masahiro is a member of SMAP. He and Takuya Kimura are the two seniors in the group.
they all do dramas apart from the SMAP shows and Nakai also hosts many variety shows.

Peg, thanks for the info on Nakai Masahiro! He seems like a pretty talented actor, especially since he's been in quite a few dramas and variety shows. It also looks he's won some Best Actor awards for his work on various dramas over the years. It'll be great to see him star in this movie with Nakama Yukie.

By the way, I was checking Nakai's and Kimura Takuya's pages on the DramaWiki website, and it looks like they were born in the same year! What a coincidence -- they're members of the SMAP group, and they were also both born in 1972!
