Re: K-Star: Goo Hye Sun/Ku Hye Sun

I have no idea where to find the SBS channel, but it's been announced that Goo Hye-Sun will be the co-MC for the SBS Drama Awards which will be aired at 9:55 on December 31st. (The same day and time as the KBS Awards.)

I wonder if she'll be nominated herself for The King and I?

Not content with just handing out the hardware, our favorite little engine that could took home another piece as she was named among the recipients for best SBS newcomers for her starring role in The King And I. Another reason for to be proud of this talented, sparkling young lady.

K-Star: Goo Hye Sun/Ku Hye Sun

Thanks for all of the updates Robbo4. I've been very behind on my Ku Hye Sun news. I'll add the award to her first page

You're welcome, vannessave. Have you had the chance to see any of her work in The King And I? I've downloaded some but need to put subs together and am always another day behind with each day that passes on the J/KDrama front.

Re: K-Star: Goo Hye Sun/Ku Hye Sun

Some news on the Goo Hye Sun watch recently appearing on soompi:

KBS “Strongest Chil Woo” drama had already appointed Eric Mun as their male lead a long time ago and viewers have been curious as to who would be the female lead. It was finally announced that Goo Hye Sun will be the first female lead and act as Eric’s love interest in the drama. This will be her comeback drama since leaving the set of SBS “King and I” four months ago.

“Strongest Chil Woo” happens in the Joseon era and Eric plays a lowly officer for the investigation court in the day but becomes the strongest assassin at night. Goo Hye Sun meanwhile plays a girl who was born into a rich family from young but because of some problems, becomes a palace maid in the end. She is Eric’s first love and only woman that he loves. Because of her deep love for Eric plus some misunderstandings due to palace politics, she becomes indifferent and cold towards Eric. The both of them will act out a tragic romance.

According to the PD, “We saw Goo Hye Sun’s performance in ‘King and I’ and felt that her image was very close to what we were looking for in our drama, she also looks very compatible with Eric in appearance.” Goo Hye Sun has also expressed her delight with landing the role through her management, YG Family and says she will be preparing herself to get into gear very soon.

“Strongest Chil Woo” will begin filming at end April and start showing in June.

Yeah for another Goo Hye Sun drama and another period drama again, she seems to love it, this being her 4th consecutive one. But it’s her first mini-series.

You're welcome, vannessave. Hopefully, as the new drama is being produced for KBS, we'll get a chance to see it on tv. I heard great things about GHS in The King And I, (she ended up winning an award from someone for her portrayal, I don't remember what for or from whom) but can't get myself to watch anything without subs. This guy "Eric" is extremely popular so I'm certain that viewership will be high. I'd rather that she return to modern times for something although she looks great in the period costumes and fits the parts she plays so well. I just want my Gukwha back! emoticon

I figure she wanted to show different sides so it will probably be a while before we get a "Gukwha" again.

Re: K-Star: Goo Hye Sun/Ku Hye Sun

Sometimes it's hard for me to remember that I don't really own these people emoticon (I do own the boxed set, though!!! emoticon ) I'm just happy that she is so popular amongst the producers and directors who keep enlisting her to help create their projects. It's truly amazing to me that hers is a career that she, herself, began with a few internet photos and that it's come this far while continuing to rise. (I even watched the Robin Williams film just to see her. She didn't have more than ten seconds of screen time, but it's cool that they chose her and that she got to have the experience.)

Although I've continued to watch the long daily series and they keep throwing characters like hers into the mix....there will always only be one Yang Gukwha. And only one Goo Hye Sun!!!! emoticon
