Thanks. Sorry! I forgot what I found - I remember finding the tape... I think I'm mixing this up. next time I'll write down everything I found in the order I found them.
Note
The 3 Keys (Gold, White, Black)
Ring
Tape
Electrical Cord
CD Jewel Case
Last thing I found was the red box.OK.classulclassliThis one's so mild I'm not even going to spoiler protect it (since there's no puzzle involved, just hunting for active areas). With the items you have, go to the blank wall. Now that you know how to find the active areas, you should see an additional place you can look.classliLikewise, you should have noticed there's an active area near the window. classrevealclassspoilerFigure out why this seemingly useless area on the floor is active.classliAnother place you should carefully look is classrevealclassspoilernear the bed.

Re: Crimson Room, Viridian Room, Blue Chamber. Can you escape?
This is all very interesting. Having never played a game like these before (or any other popular video games), it was instantly apparent to me that these are doable only if you have a whole background and mindset that goes with it.
The only thing obvious to me was moving the mouse and clicking where I could. It was also obvious that I wasn't going to get anywhere doing only that, but I hadn't a clue as to what other keys a person must/can use.
Thanks for the spoilers, ccwf. Can you share some more basic tips on how to work this game? I want to be able to do it, too! arrgh

I want to be able to do it, too! arrghThe basic interface options are to move the mouse around and click appropriate things and/or use Tab and Shift+Tab and press return to activate an area. The mouse is more convenient, but Tab/Shift+Tab has the advantage described above.
Clicking the mouse near the sides of the screen or using Tab/Shift+Tab and hitting return when those areas are active will move you around the room.
Sometimes you need to use an item to do something, as with the keys mentioned above. Just click on the item in your inventory first to make it active. Then click where you want to use it in the room.
You can also do things to some items. In this case, clicking on the item will make it fill the screen. You can then click on another item in your inventory and then click on an area of the item filling the screen in order to try to do something with that combination of items.
