Re: J-Drama-Videogame Hookup
By any chance, is this game only being released in Japan?

Re: ratings
If you mean like the Entertainment Software Ratings Board which determines how kid-friendly it is, no, the Japanese aren't into that. Me thinks they love their tentacles too much. However if you mean reviews they do have those. I check the Magic Box for that. Interesting, Success' Curry House Coco Ichibankan got a score of 27/40.
Re: Japan-only release
It's probably a Japan only release. However the funkiness of the license combined with decent gameplay give it a better-than-nothing chance at US localization. If you look at gameplay footage you'll see it's at least as engaging as say, Burger Time.

Re: J-Drama-Videogame Hookup
Have you ever wanted to be the hero in your own J-Drama romatic comedy? Feel held back because you're not six feet tall, haven't been in a boy band, and don't look cute even when dressed like a gangster?
Well there's hope for you yet! Thousands of Romance Simulators await your, um, tender mercies with the controller. As capsule descriptions say, "The Dreamcast version mirrors the storyline from the Saturn game but features improved graphics and new waitress uniforms."
These games feature the heroine archtypes we all love, including the boss's daughter, the party girl and the shy girl. Just like in J-Drama personality and your understanding of it is key.
There are no guaranteed happy endings.

Re: J-Drama-Videogame Hookup
How cool!!! Wow MinorityReport, those are really cool. Too bad they're only being released in Japan, and I don't see an American release anytime in the future, if at all. And its too expensive to import from Japan.

Is watching Hey, Hey, Hey Music Champ not enough for you? Want to discover your own musume that can sing and dance?
Well you can with The IdolM@aster from Namco. Gameplay features include raising one of nine virtual girls and competing against up to five other virtual girls at a talent show. Check out some involving gameplay here.

I have friends that are into romance and other Japanese games. Some of them run on U.S. computers and/or equipment. Some don't or require special mods/adapters. Of course, it often helps when playing if you know Japanese….

Re: J-Drama-Videogame Hookup
When I was into Pokemon a while back, I used to buy the Japanese games. I couldn't read, but I knew the plot.
