Re: Striking Pictures

ccwf, where did you find that? I'm wondering where it is available for sale. Very beautiful. (The combination of purple and light blue have long been one of my favorites.)

I recall reading a few years back that Barbie wasn't doing so well in Japan. Until they altered the body proportions to be more similar to those of the Japanese.

Is there just a Korean barbie or do they have Japanese barbies in kimonos as well?

I link a lot of my pictures to the pages where I found them. You can tell from the blue border at the bottom of the image that that Barbie image is linked, in this case to an article about designer hanbok for a Barbie exhibition. class blockquote I'm wondering where it is available for sale. Very beautiful. (The combination of purple and light blue have long been one of my favorites.)That particular hanbok was created by a designer for the exhibition and so is probably not available for sale. But official Barbie in hanbok sets can be found used from various places.

I have this one Japanese geisha doll in my room. Its not a Barbie, but I love the colors. I love the artwork and crafting.

That's just beautiful. I've heard of the Longshan Temple before.

Edit: Corrected name of temple

I was there today (but mostly to pray rather than sightsee).

On the Barbie topic, I was in the famous Japanese Sogo department store chain today and saw a Chinese New Year's Barbie, featuring Barbie in a traditional Chinese dress.

(But I admit that all this talk of multicultural Barbies makes me think of The Distinguished Gentleman's “Girls of Many Nations”. emoticon )

Sorry, don't expect a lot of photos from me. (I don't even own a real camera.)
