Japan = South Korea/Taiwan?
I have already asked this to a number of people already, and I am merely asking for more opinions to myinquiry. In terms of culture, politics, language, dramas, moderness, citis, religion, history, mindset, geography, youth culture, pop culture, and just in general - what country is most similar to Japan? South Korea or Taiwan?

Not doubting your reply or anything - but why so? It would really help with my research. =)

Re: Japan = South Korea/Taiwan?
Hehehe. I see. Well, I have to admit that South Korea is more like Japan in terms of moderness. Taiwan is very modern too, but not as much as SK and Japan. Thanks.,

What about Thailand?
I have been thinking about this, and Thailand seems like the Japan fo SE Asia. It is the most democratic and modern out of all those countries, was in the Axis in WWII, military involvement in politics, most European, and never colonized. Borrowed from the China of SE Asia (Cambodia) and made it into its own. Does Thailand compare better with Japam?

Going off topic, but it's amusing to read Roger Ebert's reviews on anything Thailand-related (e.g., the various incarnations of the Anna/Monkut story). He has rather strong feelings about the country.

I like Thailand. It really is a nice country. Lots of films about Thailand, that's probably why he likes it so much.

Ebert doesn't like Thailand at all. He hates it with a fiery passion and dumps on the country in his reviews.
