Re: *New members* SAY HELLO HERE!
I've been a LONG time watcher of J-dramas and in the last 2 years started watching K-dramas.
Ever since channel 18 went to 18.2 I haven't been able to watch the J-dramas on TV because I live in a hilly area in O. C. where antennas don't work very well. So, Iately, I watch them online.

Re: *New members* SAY HELLO HERE!
Hi, Sengo! Welcome to CJKDramas. Sorry to hear about your 18.2 digital reception problem. Seems a number of our members are suffering the same fate—and aren't very happy about it. Can't blame them!
It would be nice if you could watch on-line the J-dramas we see on 18.2, and also the J-Video Club drama selections we have. We'd love to have you join in on the discussions. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a good source for the taiga, Tenchijin. Are you fluent in Japanese, or relying on subs like most of us?

Re: *New members* SAY HELLO HERE!
Hi nchristi,
Thanks for the warm welcome! I do understand some Japanese but certainly rely on the subs. I started watching Tenchijin on ch. 18 and really enjoyed it but once it switched to 18.2, I was out of luck.
I'll check out what J-dramas you all are watching.
Just a side note: I'm friends with nsheldon. She got me started with K-dramas!

Welcome to CJKDramas, Sengo!
Sorry that you can't watch the Japanese programming on 18.2. A lot of members are also having problems with reception, and the digital sub-channels (like 18.x, 44.x, etc.) are not yet available on cable or satellite. Like Nchristi mentioned, it would be fun if you could watch some of the currently airing J-dramas online and join in on the drama discussions with us.
Thanks for joining in on the discussions, Sengo! Glad to have you with us.

Hello, newbie here.
I've been an off-and-on fan of Taiga dramas since I first caught "Hideyoshi" on LA's ch 18. My wife and I are currently into "Ryomaden" and "Jin" we pick up with our digital antenna on ch. 18.2. Like previous posters, we've also had reception problems with the digital signal, so I've had to download episodes to fill in, but I can't always find current fan-subbed episodes available, just raw episodes for what is currently showing. So my wife is stuck translating because my J-skills are awful weak. So I look forward to getting some insight into what I've been missing thanks to you ladies and gents!

Hi Robato! Welcome to CJKDramas. We're very happy to have you with us and look forward to reading your thoughts. Please feel free to jump on into any of the threads for the dramas you are enjoying. If you need any help on the board, please feel free to ask and we'll be glad to assist in any way possible.
I certainly know the frustration of not having e-subs for some of these programs. I'm glad to hear you have your own personal translator—I hope she doesn't tire out!

Welcome to CJKDramas, Robato! Thanks for joining us. Please let us know if you have any questions!
Yep, I know what you mean, sometimes it can take months for fansubbed episodes to be available for some of the recent dramas—especially the Taigas. We're looking forward to reading your comments about the dramas you are currently watching, so feel free to join in!

Thanks for the welcome. Yeah, my better half does get tired of translating the 90% I can't catch, her synopsis getting further and further apart. I can't blame her, though. There's a lot of subtext going on, cultural nuances that can be hard to convey.

Re: *New members* SAY HELLO HERE!
Yep, that's one of the reasons why I really enjoy fansubs. They'll usually contain some extra information about cultural nuances or puns that are not easily translated into English. It can really make the story more interesting.
Thanks for joining us here at CJKDramas, Robato!
