J-Drama: ハルとナツ (Haru to Natsu/Haru e Natsu)
(Edit by Hiroshi66) -- Tomcat, sorry to take apart your post like this. I'm just creating the front page for this drama, so I have to edit the first post. I'm leaving your entire post entact though, nothing got deleted. Thanks for understanding.

Japanese Drama: ハルとナツ (Haru to Natsu)
This drama is the next Sunday night UTB drama, which will begin its run on Sunday, January 8th, at 9:00 PM, following the end of Gokusen 2 and the movie "Quill". It will have English subtitles. The drama stars Yonekura Ryoko and Nakama Yukie (also known for her roles on Trick, Gokusen, and Tokyo Wankei). Also appearing are Nogiwa Yoko (also on Trick and the new drama Dragon Zakura), Mori Mitsuko, Imai Tsubasa (from Tackey&Tsubasa, he also appeared on the taiga Yoshitsune), and Murata Takehiro.
There are five episodes in this series. The drama will air on the UTB Sunday timeslot from 9:00 PM to 10:00 PM, tentatively, but most likely.
Here are some websites that offer more information on the drama:
Official Website: Haru to Natsu
J-Dorama: JDorama: Haru to Natsu
Drama Wiki: D-Addicts: Haru to Natsu
UTB: UTB
Here is a short synopsis from "JDorama": class blockquote JDORAMA wrote:
In order to get out from living in extreme poverty in Hokkaido, a family determined to immigrate to Brazil in 1934. Haru (9 years old) went to Brazil with her family but she was separated from her sister Natsu (7 years old) who got ill. The two sisters were separated at Kobe port in tears.
Haru lived in Brazil while Natsu had to stay in Japan in the midst of war. The two sisters managed to keep in touch with letters and this way of living was awkward for them. However, one day the letter never arrived...
Akakage Here is a summary from "Drama Wiki": class blockquote DRAMA WIKI wrote:
A special drama commemorating the 80th anniversary of NHK’s broadcasting service. The story is about two sisters who meet each other again after living separated in Japan and Brazil for 70 years. In 1934, Haru and her family emigrated from Hokkaido to Brazil. Haru’s younger sister Natsu, however, was left behind in Japan because of an eye disease. 70 years later, Haru visits Japan and locates the whereabouts of Natsu but the younger sister, who thinks she was abandoned by the family, rejects Haru. After a while, the two find out that both wrote numbers of letters to the other though the letters have been left undelivered to the addressees. Through the discovered letters, the sisters learn each other’s life; Haru lived in Brazil as a member of an immigrant-laborer family surviving various difficulties while Natsu lived in Japan through the Second World War and postwar economic growth depending on herself and managing a business. The drama portrays the separated sisters’ lives full of ups and downs as well as their family ties, asking the meaning of “homeland” and “family.” Here are some scenes from the series, courtesy of the NHK Website.
More photos are available on the website. This drama starts on January 8th. Any changes will be posted as soon as I know of them. Also, when UTB posts a better link, it will be added.

I went ahead and changed the title of the topic to match the other drama topics. UTB Hollywood has a couple of pics on their website here as well along with more information written in Japanese:

Yay, another Nakama Yukie drama That means we'll be getting two Nakama, Yukie dramas since she's also featured in xml:lang ja-JP 功名が辻, the next taiga drama. I guess we should start a topic for it, too.

This is me stabbing at the dark right now ( Since I don't know THAT much Japanese. .....yet. ) I think the title is translated to "Haru and Natsu" since, it is about the two sisters Haru and Natsu. ... I think. That makes sense, right?

In a construction of the form “noun (phrase) + xml:lang ja-JP と (to) + noun (phrase)”, xml:lang ja-JP と (to) means “and”. And, overall, “and” is the most common meaning of xml:lang ja-JP と (to) when used as a word (a particle) by itself.

Re: J-Drama: ハルとナツ (Haru to Natsu/Haru e Natsu)
Oh, I see. The official romanized title is Haru e Natsu. The e is Portuguese for “and” and is used because the story is set in Brazil.
