Re: J-Drama: Central Ikegami Police (Season 2)

This second season is surprising me in its more edgy social topics, unseen in season one, which was mostly cops and robbers. I was not at all expecting the writers to tackle the subject of how foreign students or workers feel (and are) treated in Japan. But, if anybody can provide that teaspoonful of sugar, it is our "Andy"!

I agree. I think the first season just got repetative because it seemed to be about a family split up and Andy patching it up together again. It was especially between father and daughter. I'm glad they're addressing real controversial topics.

This is the first one that I kind of slept through... I think the writers took a break... nothing earth shattering...

Well, at least I got to see Andy jogging around in his running suit! emoticon

Even though this episode had precious little to stimulate the imagination, I really liked the story of the chubby cop, Sekikawa. He seemed representative to me of so many people who are sort of dismissed, forgotten, not taken seriously by the "popular" crowd. These people are often sad within themselves, feeling not a part of the "in crowd," having little confidence about themselves.

I loved how Sekikawa came through when the chips were down, putting his own career at risk, succeeding, then quietly and willingly taking the discipline. The unsung hero. (They are there, if only we make the effort to notice them.) And Andy! I thought it beautiful how he did his required duty to discipline, yet, unseen, bowed deeply to the man who could not be officially recognized.

Huh... I must have missed all of that, while doing the Homer Simpson on the sofa... I did see Andy in his running suit though!
Do I get my bullet?

I didn't watch the episode, but if you guys say its boring, then it must have been boring for me. Oh no! I hope this season isn't getting worse now like its first season counterpart.

Really good episode. They kinda brought the season back up. I'm glad that the chief got mad at Hasegawa for presuming that the delinquint did it. This show does deal with modenr issues.

Another good show, with the help of Andy...

I liked the episode - it was boring at first but got relatively involved towards the end. Is Soma that crybaby accountant who was killed in Trick 2? If you remember him, he had the Jimmy-like glasses.

Re: J-Drama: こちら本池上署第二シリーズ (Central Ikegami Police 2)

This Soma Episode was the most awesome Central Ikegami Police episode yet.

It had:
1) Cute girl witnesses; sisters!!!
2) Fight in a Japanese apartment the size of a walk-in closet; they fit three guys in there!
3) Meaningless awards backstory
4) Attempted vehicular manslaughter; great stunt work!
5) CSI levels of digital image reconstruction; "He's going 60kmh but look, he's got pimples!"

The only thing that might possibly have made it better was if Nakai slapped Soma too or if they slapped him together. Some guys have all the luck!
