J-drama: トリック2 (Trick 2)

UTB will air Trick 2 (11 episodes) the following Sunday after the end of Trick 1 at the 9pm-10pm timeslot on KSCI. In other words, Trick 2 will begin airing October 12.

official hp: http://www.tv-asahi.co.jp/trick2/

I'm pretty excited that UTB has decided to air the 2nd season of Trick (if this goes well, we could likely see Trick 3 earlier than expected I hope).

Re: J-drama Trick 2

It’s great to see that “Trick 2” is coming!

The original “Trick” was a real surprise for me. I disgustedly turned off my VCR during the first 5 minutes of Episode #1, thinking that it was going to be just another one of those weird Japanese voodoo/witchcraft dramas.

You guessed it: by the end of Episode #1 I was kicking myself for so stupidly shutting down the VCR. “Trick” was completely different from what I expected. Live and learn, I guess.

I certainly learned my lesson when KTAN aired My Love Patjui/Patzzi on KSCI last year...I decided to watch the 1st ep w/o taping and I was hooked when I saw Kim Rae Won and his heart condition. Good thing the Jang Nara site at the time had the episodes available (encoded in 1000k bitrate).

From that time on, I told myself, whenever a new series comes on, just tape it, and if I don't like it later I can always forget about it.

I'll be anxiously waiting for Trick 2 as well as the MBC drama "Good Person" which will likely replace "The Woman Next Door" on KSCI this coming Wed-Thurs.

Re: J-drama Trick 2

Well, “Trick” ended last night, and though I really enjoyed parts of it, it left me a little dissatisfied, too. I liked the characters, I liked the quirkiness, I liked the humor (though aren’t they going a little overboard with all the big penis jokes?) and for some reason that creepy, haunting theme song just won’t leave me alone, especially after seeing Onitsuka Chihiro san actually sing it last night (and didn’t she look a lot like the murderous evil-twin character in one of the earlier episodes? I guess it wasn’t her, but it really caught my eye).

But some things still bothered me. Too many loose ends. How about in the final episode where Naoko arrives on the island and begins hallucinating? Supposedly, one of the gods was trying to enter her head, but if the whole thing was a scam, then what gives? Maybe it was the effects of all those poisonous plants on the island (the long-time residents perhaps being resistant) but then how come Ueda san and the two Tokyo detectives weren’t affected by it?

Lots of other things: like about when the dying Big Mother (apparently) actually read Naoko’s mind and warned her of “real spiritualists.” Or the endless, black-and-white flashbacks of Naoko’s dying father coming to the realization that there were “real spiritualists.” Were all those flashbacks just a red herring to set us up for the final episode?

Oh well, having said that, I’m still looking forward to “Trick 2.” Should be fun! And, does anybody know where I can find a Romanized copy of the show’s theme song’s lyrics? I think the song’s entitled “Gekou.” Sure would appreciate it -- thanks!

(Whoops, did a first search on Google for "Gekou" and came up dry, then checked again and there were the lyrics: http://webdisk.berkeley.edu/~teresako/other/onitsuka_gekkou.htm. Go figure! -- Mikey)

hmm...and what about that guy that was in the water at the end of the episode? who was he? can't be either of the 2 police officers...is it that number 1 fan of hers?

Also remember, that Naoko somehow "healed" Ueda's wound that was on his arm, and then her mother did some chanting/praying at the sea in the night.

Hopefully they'll explain some things in Trick 2.

You guys are all kidding, right? Next to Love Complex, I think this has got to be the stupidest show I'vbe ever seen!!

And I certainly agree about the annoying repetition of the big penis jokes. Sorry, but Japanese man and big penis just don't go together!

Well, I loved Trick. Me too, I watched Tengoku e no kaidan, but I taped some of the last episode. And then the series ended, and I wanted to watch it again, but I couldn't. So when Trick aired, I quickly decided to tape every episode. And I did.

This was a very unique drama. While most Japanese dramas are like American soap operas, this was more of a television show where every two or three episodes has a different plot.

The last episode was okay. But there was one thing I didn't understand.

Hey, you saw the last episode of Trick, right?

Can you explain the final scene, when Ueda was talking to Naoko's mother? Who killed Naoko's dad, who hid the key? I don't get it. Is there a reason, or do we speculate?

Thanks.

Anyways, I'm glad Trick 2 is airing, and there is gonna be a Trick 3, right? I heard its gonna start in Japan by October, and since Trick 2 ends in December, we may be seeing it sooner than we thought. Have there been plans for a Trick 4 yet?

Okay, thanks. emoticon

Well, as you probably know, Trick 1 ended last week in California, and Trick 2 will begin next week at 9:00 PM. However, Trick 3 is starting in Japan next week as well, and in America, Trick 2 is ending in December. So, we may see it right after, but we may have to see another drama and then see Trick 3 here.

But, since Trick 1 did so well here, I'm sure Trick 3 will do excellent, and will be aired.

Re: J-drama Trick 2

Can anyone tell me what happened in like the first 15-20 minutes of Trick2? Unfortunately, I had to go to this crappy party and had to tape Hotman. Once I got home, I started watching it and before I knew it, it was already 9:15-9:20 and I had already missed the beginning of Trick2. So, if anybody can shed some light on this, you will have my thanks.
