TW-Drama: 家有日本妻 (My Japanese Wife)

I saw the promo for it today.

It's call "Jia Yo Japanese Chi" (roughly translated "Japanese Wife at Home").

I'm not sure when it'll start, either Friday or Monday since we are near the end of Love of the Aegean Sea.

Sorry, I can't post in Chinese. Someone can probably post the Chinese title of this show for me. Thanks.

Re: TW Drama: 家有日本妻 (My Japanese Wife)

I saw the first episode today. It's a typical Taiwanese FTV production. I'm surprised that they have an original soundtrack which have the characters speaking in Taiwanese, Mandarin, and Japanese. There is Chinese subtitles so even if you don't understand Taiwanese and Japanese, you'll still be able to watch it.

Not bad. But the plots and cliches are going to be predictable.

Hopefully my 4YO will pick up some Taiwanese phrases along the way.

any idea how long this FTV series is? since FTV is notorious for their super long dramas.

Were any of the actor/actresses voices dubbed? or was it their real voices when speaking Japanese and so on?

Re: TW Drama: 家有日本妻 (My Japanese Wife)

I think all the voices are original voices (not dubbed over), except for the actor who plays Sakura's father. I did hear one part where his Taiwanese was dubbed over, but not his Mandarin. But in the next scene, he spoke perfect Taiwanese, so I think they dubbed over his Mandarin once because the director probably thought in that conversation he needed to speak Taiwanese.

Even the Sakura's sister speaks perfect Japanese and Mandarin.

The lead actor, Chang Chung-Kuang, spoke Taiwanese, Mandarin, and Japanese (with an accent). But for an actor who didn't grow up speaking Taiwanese, the fact that he can be a lead actor in a FTV show speaks volumes for his dedication and hard work--trying to learn Taiwanese so he can continue to act in Taiwan.

The actors in this show switched back and forth between Taiwanese and Mandarin in their conversation--very typical of the way Taiwanese families now speak to each other.

This drama seems to have been made just for me! emoticon Very fun, very funny... 桜花 won me over as early as the "shrine clapping"...

I'm actually very very tempted to cap this one, but I'm already doing Stairway to Heaven... just how long is "super long" anyway?

Re: TW Drama: 家有日本妻 (My Japanese Wife)

I just asked my cousin who works for FTV. She said:

"台灣播出的時候每集30分鐘,一共播出168集"

total: 168 episodes 30 minutes/episode

Assuming that KSCI airs 60 minutes of it per day, it'll take a total of 84 episodes or 16 weeks and 4 days to finish the entire series.

HTH.

Ok, I'm not that dedicated. emoticon Sure, I've decided to cap some of my stuff at 300 kbps (instead of 1500), but really. I'll probably still watch though.

[EDIT] ...and thanks for going through the trouble of asking! emoticon

Re: TW Drama: 家有日本妻 (My Japanese Wife)

I was wondering how they are going to drag this story to over 160 episodes because there is so much they can do with the cultural differences between the Taiwanese and the Japanese.

I see that the writers have added, to the story plots, the recent phenomena in Taiwan's lifestyle culture--the importation of the SUVs, the money scams, and the lottery craze.

It's a mindless show....certainly do not make you think, make you sweat, or make you emotional.

posticon Re: TW-Drama: 家有日本妻 (My Japanese Wife)

According to LA18, this show will air again after 誰都會說我愛你 (Everybody Says I Love You/Yes, I Love You) on June 21 at 12:30pm.

This means that 誰都會說我愛你 (Everybody Says I Love You/Yes, I Love You)
will have 30 minutes left. From Friday's show, it did not look like the end. I'm glad 誰都會說我愛你 (Everybody Says I Love You/Yes, I Love You)
is ending.

As for 家有日本妻 (My Japanese Wife), it was strange that KSCI/LA18 ended it abruptly without explanation 10 months ago. I guess KSCI/LA18 still have some episodes left in its inventory. Someone is trying to save some money.
