C-Drama: 誰都會說我愛你 (Everybody Says I Love You/Yes, I Love You)

classfloat-rightImageDa Han Tien Ze II (Emperor Han Wu Di 2) ended abruptly today. I think they must have edited out quite a bit of the Emperor show so the new show can start today.

Can't say much about this show except the lead actor is Li Ya-Peng and he played the emperor Pu-Yi in the Last Empress. He is more famous for romancing his leading ladies than his acting. His current lady is Faye Wong, the wealthiest singer in China!

Also, this show is an adaptation of a novel by the same name. The book is written by a Taiwanese writer, 吳淡如, Betty Wu. She is quite famous in Taiwan and writes about love, women, and relationships in general. She is a prolific writer who sells lots of her books....but nothing in the scale of Danielle Steele, mostly because the number of Taiwanese readership is limited. Perhaps choosng a Chinese production company/actors to do her book, she'll get a bigger audience/readership in China.

If I find more information about this show. I'll post.

BTW, the Chinese title has several English translations. I think a more literal translation should be "Everybody Can Say I Love You" or "Everybody All Knows How to Say I Love You". The difference is subtle, and I haven't quite found the exact translation in English of the right meaning to the Chinese Title.

Edit: Linked YesAsia.com image. Removed on air post icon.

Re: C-Drama: 誰都會說我愛你 (Everybody Says I Love You/Yes, I Love You)

The first 30 minutes of Episode 1 aired after Emperor Han Wu Di 2. It's the worst Chinese drama I have ever seen!!!

The dialogue is bad; the actors/actresses are bad; the sets are fake; the story is contrived; the characters not believable; and even the city of Shanghai looked made up. I've heard that Shanghai is a beautiful city, but you can't see it from this show. It could have been any glittering city from its overhead shots of the city.

Let me give you an example of how bad it is. In one scene, at the lead actress' sister's wedding party, the sister (the bride) walked away from the lead actress with their mother. The bride was wearing a violet/purple organza gown that has a split down the center of the back of her dress. The slit is a little on the long side, so if one is not careful, her butt would show. But what I saw, in a quick glimpse was something strange in that slit. Since I have Replay TV, I quickly flipped back 7 seconds and what I saw was unbelievable!!

The actress who played the sister was wearing a pair of jeans (or dark blue pants) underneath that purple organza gown!!! The slit was pretty big, the pants was right there.

Oh, and the lack of Chinese subtitles puts a strain on the ears because the sound quality of this show is terrible.

I think I'll skip this one.

merela, this is the most enjoyable review I think I've ever read on C/J/K! emoticon I started laughing in your first post when you wrote:classblockquoteCan't say much about this show except the lead actor is Li Ya-Peng and he played the emperor Pu-Yi in the Last Empress. How funny... (if it really weren't so pathetic).

I thought of another one --

"Anyone can say I Love You"

I think I'll throw this one to a friend of mine who is a Chinese/English interpreter in Europe (for the UN) and see what she comes up with.

Hahahha...............

"Translation is an Art...........not a science........"

I encountered difficulties doing translations from Chinese to English..........

Doing literal translation is very easy..........

Next is .....
doing justice to the beauty of the Chinese Language is another thing.....

and at an even higher level.........
translating the lyrical ...........of the Chinese into the lyrical of the English..........

to be appreciated at that level.........

I totally agree! It's next to impossible trying to translate Chinese lyrics from ancient poetry or texts. I mean does one do a literal translation or do you try to convey the meaning without loosing the essence of the text or lyrics. To be a great translator, one has to be a MASTER of both languages in the truest sense.

This title was fun to try to translate....even though the show was terrible!

Despite the fact that I have been saying that this is one of the worst dramas I've seen so far, I must confess that I have been watching the last 5 episodes of this show because I took a liking to the secondary characters, or rather the actor and actress who play the secondary characters. They are more easy on the eyes.

The plot defies logic and the acting (you can feel that the lead actors/actresses are just reading lines) is terrible. I mean nobody talks like that in normal life.

Tomorrow is episode 20 and I think it'll be an edited version because My Japanese Wife will begin at 12:30pm.

Agree......................I try to work on that basis of "conveying the meaning and intent".........rather than tell you ok......wat it says here exactly.....

create the mental picture of what was intended rather.........

Hahaha.............to MASTER both.......must be yellow inside or white inside.......or vis a vis......??
goodness............your gear box inside your mind must be in different modes when you do this........

Absorb in Chinese ala Li Pai ............and output in English ala Keats or Browning.................

tall order!!..

For the longest time I have always wanted to translate the lyrics of this song........

but I could not really do it..........

(Dang Li Ming dang You Chai)

把回憶封起來

時間飛得再快

你依然笑得燦爛

頹廢是一種習慣

好讓我繼續依賴

你的愛 不存在

讓黑夜當郵差

把回憶封起來

思念被夢剪開

擁有你才算精采

心痛變成一種期待

反復溫習那些悲哀

越孤單越感覺愛存在

你的愛不存在

Till one fine day...........it suddenly came to me..........
and this is for someone .....special.........
