SAP (Secondary Audio Program)

KTSF has been taking advantage of the SAP feature for some time now for its SBS programming, and LA-18 has just started doing the same with one of its SBS programs.

SAP allows the broadcaster to send the video with two different language audio tracks, allowing viewers to select which of those two languages they wish to record or hear live.

In general, I've found that that if you have a cable or satellite box, then you need to enable/disable the SAP feature there to switch between the two languages. Otherwise, if you have a DVR, enable/disable SAP there. Otherwise, if using a VCR, enable/disable on your VCR. And, finally, if you do not have a cable/satellite box, do not have a DVR, and are not watching/recording through a VCR, then enable/disable SAP on your TV.

So, again, check for the SAP feature in this order:classulclasslicable/satellite boxclassliDVRclassliVCRclassliTVOld or very basic TVs may not have the SAP feature. Old VCRs many not have it.

Feel free to post here to get help on getting SAP to work in your home. Please post what equipment you are using and how they are connected together.
