Re: Need Help Using the Board?

Don't know if this is a question requiring a short or long answer, but will ask it in this topic (cuz I never am quite sure where to ask these things—and I definitely need help!).

Here's my latest issue. Certain members' avatars present a great challenge for me when I try to click on "quote" or "edit" (e.g., Tangpriet's new Bi avatar; Star1's KSW avatar). It's like playing "whack a mole". When I drag my cursor anywhere near the buttons, everything jumps all over the place and I can't get the cursor on the button.

I try to sneak up on the buttons, but that is a challenge, too, because as I get near, the picture becomes giant and jumps somewhere else. I kind of have to eyeball it, trying to guess where it will jump to and if I get it high enough on the screen, maybe...just maybe... the quote button will be barely visible at the very top of my screen, at which point I have it cornered and can click on it!

ccwf, can you help me? Where's that dang mallet....

I've heard that Whack-a-Mole is popular in Japan but have been unable to find confirmation of that fact.

I changed it so that now avatars will grow to full size only when you mouse over the avatars. (This does not apply to IE/Win32 users.)

One of our members wishes to leave CJKDramas.com and asks this question: class blockquote How do I Delete and Cancel my Profile and account?
I checked the Control Panel and FAQ...no info.

There's no way to delete a Runboard account, but members who wish to be removed from CJKDramas.com's membership list can PM me to request that.

Hi, Qdake. An avatar is the picture or image people put in the far left-hand column where your name and post information are. For example, my avatar is the image of the bright yellow Japanese New Year decoration with red berries to the left.

You can add or change your avatar whenever you like by going to the control panel and clicking on the Miscellaneous link in your personal profile. To insert an avatar, you have to upload it to a server, then download it into this board. You can do this through Imageshack or Photobucket, both free.

Re: Need Help Using the Board?

Probably many people don't know how to use the avatar feature so here is a tutorial to help them out. Here we go:

Using Imageshack to upload an Avatar to Use in CJKDramas.com

First you need to have the avatar you want to upload saved on your Hard Disk. The max width and height for avatars we use on this board is 100x100 (I believe). Anything below that width and length is fine. Anything above that width and length, then runboard will resize the image to display it when you post. After that is done just go to imageshack. Click on the following link to go to the imageshack webpage:

http://www.imageshack.us/

Now that we are there, we should concentrate on this portion of the website shown below. I have highlighted important steps in a red box as we go along.

Click on the Browse button which I highlighted..

Image

That should bring up a pop-up menu asking you to locate your image. Locate your image on your Hard Disk. When you find it select the image then click on open.

Image

Now that we selected the image, the path of the image will be displayed next to the browse button. Now just click on "Host it!" to upload the image.

Image

After a short while, depending on your internet connection, the image will be uploaded. Below is the portion of the website we need to concentrate on. There will be 5 links displayed, but we only need the last one called "Direct link to image". So, highlight the link, right-click and copy the link as shown.

Image

Now that we have uploaded the image and copied the image link, its time to link to it from our runboard control panel. So lets head over to the control panel. Log into your account and go to the main CJKDramas page. Below is the portion of the site we need to look at. Locate and click the "Control Panel" link.

Image

Now we should be in the control panel. In the center of the page are the options to choose. Click the 3rd button called "Change miscellaneous settings"

Image

We are now presented with a whole slew of options but we only need to look at the first option. It lets us link to an avatar. So, right click the first box and paste the link we copied earlier.

Image

Now that we have pasted the link, just head all the way down and click on save settings.

Image

Done and done. You have an avatar now. Hopefully you were able to follow. emoticon
