Do you mean the Cross Domain Redirect Vulnerability or II5 Web Server Compromise?

I mean both. People discovered that vunerability in IE a while back (which Microsoft has still not fixed), which allowed web sites to run arbitrary code on IE users' computers. Then, some prominent web sites were infected via the second vulnerability (this time in Microsoft's flagship web server product), causing them to install spyware on the computers of IE users who visited those sites. The spyware reportedly watches for and transmits passwords used for Ebay, Paypal, and other financial stuff.

Re: Netcraftiness

I was trying some stuff on my old Thinkpad running Windows XP. Can you believe someone can put a link on their page with the following contents, which if you click on it, will execute on your computer.
shell:windows\<some program with whatever arguments>

ex. shell:windows\system32\dxdiag.exe

I don't know about you but this seems crazy scary. Supposedly Windows XP SP2 is not vulnerable to this leaving everyone else SOL.

I'd better put Fedora Core 2 back on it.
