KXLA Picture quality
Does anybody else get bad picture quality when watching shows on KXLA? I get KXLA on cable and picture quality is usually the worst during the evenings.

i'm using a regular broadcast antennae, and in the past picture quality was really bad, but it's been improving in recent months for me to be able to tape Terms of Endearment...my friend who has cable is taping the other series shown on KXLA for me, and the picture quality for him is perfectly fine.

Re: KXLA Picture quality
I watch over-the-air out in Riverside County, and KXLA's picture quality has always been quite variable: sometimes pretty good, sometimes dreadful.
Lately (last 3 or 4 days) I have to say that it's definitely been on the marginal side in my area. Very snowy during Sunday evening's Age of Warriors, and nearly as bad during last night’s broadcast of One Million Roses.
Guess I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one facing difficulties . . .

Re: KXLA Picture quality
A friend of mine in Palm Springs has satellite and can barely get the dramas and was told by the cable company that they need to get an additional satellite dish just for the reception on these two stations. I think that's a bit ridiculous since they already one have satellite dish. Can you envision a home lined with oodles of these dishes -- say, one for every 2 or 3 of favorite regular stations? If they can receive broadcasts from other countries on their present dish, why can't these local channels beam in?

Re: KXLA Picture quality
I guess each diff place in SoCal has a different reception of the station.
I had no problems watching any of the dramas on KXLA in the past 2-3 weeks, but months before, I couldn't even be able to tape the channel if I had wanted to. I'm just happy that I can finally tape Terms of Endearment since my friend is already taking the responsibility of taping 3 other dramas on that station for me (and I certainly didn't want to burden him w/ Terms of Endearment, especially when I hadn't known it was going to be w/ eng subs till the minute it aired)

Re: KXLA Picture quality
I get KXLA on Charter cable. See my past posts on overmodulation on KXLA and bad compression on KXLA.

I wonder if the quality is any different, since my friend gets the channel thru Time Warner.

Re: KXLA Picture quality
Just when I was feeling safe about my reception, last night the film looked like it had been split and kept flashing for several minutes during the first part of the show. Maybe they've caught on and this will go to a 'pay per view' sort of thing.

Yes, I noticed that, too. (I was actually on the phone with one of my staff and had the TV on mute but noticed the weird video coming from the set.)

Heaven Forbid!
But, it looked to me like it was just a temporary sync problem at the station (KXLA) and probably nothing that KTE did.
I admit, it really made my eyeballs roll! I hope it was just a one-time deal.
