Re: K-Drama Fan Meetings! (Post, Discuss, and Arrange)

thanks Nchristi.

For those who are interested in the Korean Music Festival, here's the link to the main site: http://www.koreanmusicfestival.com/ I don't mind sitting far but would like to be a tad closer to the middle. From the guest list for 2010 event, they have some good singers...I especially LOVE Kim Jong Kook and can only hope to see him again this year.

Let me know if you all want to meet. I remember when I went to our first meeting in Korea town in LA...that was so fun...ages ago emoticon

Not sure if this is the appropriate place to post this, but for Son Ye Jin fans (and Lee Min Ki fans too), the movie Spellbound a.k.a "Eerie Romance"/"Chilling Romance" starring the two, which made its premiere in South Korea December 1st, will be airing at CGV Cinemas in Los Angeles starting December 16, 2011; Korean w/ English subtitles.

The movie is a mix of romance/horror/comedy and debunked Hollywood movie Twilight: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 to 3rd place in it's 2nd week at theatres in South Korea.

Hey everyone! I see there hasn't been much going on in this section since 2011. I think SoCal kdrama fans are definitely overdue for a meeting. I don't know anyone personally on here yet but would definitely appreciate the occasion to meet some of you! Hopefully someone can plan something. emoticon

Re: K-Drama Fan Meetings! (Post, Discuss, and Arrange)

Well, I was trying to arrange something but I'm not too creative but since my last post I've been brainstorming and I came up with something simple. emoticon

I figure we could go to Ktown to grab some lunch or dinner and then head to the CGV Cinemas to catch a Korean flick. It's simple but I figure it's the best since everyone might have some busy schedules.

What does everyone think? If we arrive a little earlier for dinner we could still spend some quality time together and then head over to the theatres. It's like that typical date that you take your girlfriend to but it works. emoticon Dinner and a movie. emoticon

Maybe we can plan this for the end of "A Tale of Two Sisters/Sincerity is the Way of Heaven" or halfway through it? Hope to hear from everyone soon!

Re:

Not sure if anyone ever looks here anymore but just a FYI:
For all the Board members who remember her, Tankerspark (Margaret) died on June 30. She had been battling lung cancer for a few years. She introduced me to a great Korean tofu soup place and we met there for lunch several times. She had worked for ARCO and spent several months living in S Korea. I will really miss her. Very special lady...

I was so sorry to hear of Tankerspark's death. She had such an interesting life in the world of transporting oil across the seas. I always enjoyed the little tidbits she would mention here and there in the lingo of oil tanker ships. She was an interesting person. Even her name "tankerspark" conjured up a vision of its own. Sparks in oil tankers can result in massive explosions. Perhaps her personality was such that as a "sparky" soul she kept the other crew members upbeat during those long travels.

I didn't know Margaret had lived in South Korea for a while. I'll bet she could share a bunch of fascinating experiences on that subject!

May she rest in peace.

I , too , am sorry to hear of this news . I have fond memories of the K- Drama family reunions that we had

a few years ago , and Tankersparks had a huge hand in organizing those - especially the first one !

Because of her , I got to meet so many people face to face , and I Will always be grateful for that and the good

times we had . Our lives now can sometimes feels kind of isolated - we can talk on a board of course , but when

communication can suddenly stop and one would never know why .

So , I am grateful to whoever it was that emailed everyone on Tankersparks email list to let us know of her

passing . Margaret , it was my pleasure to know you .

I wish I had been able to meet the members in the past. I am sorry to hear about Margaret for she must have been a fascinating person with many wonderful stories about Korea. However I know she has arrived again at a wonderful place in the after life. She will be pain free and finding all sorts of interesting places and people I am sure. She will find Joy.

Re:

Received an email today, regarding two KCON events (DramaFever), one in NY (June 24-25 at Prudential Center in Newark, NJ) & one in LA (July 29-31 at Staples Center in LA Live). Never been to one of these but might be fun for K-drama fans. Here's the web link & thought the LA group might want to organize a group outing. emoticon
