Correcting Listings for Foreign Language TV Programming
As I'm sure you're all aware, TV listings for foreign language programming are often sketchy or incorrect. The TiVo thread in the Tech Forum area includes instructions on how to submit corrections to Tribune Media Services, which does work sometimes; but sometimes my C/J/K TV listing error reports get misread or seem to be ignored.
(Tribune Media Services and Gemstar are the two major compilers of TV listings. TMS provides listings to many newspapers, including the Los Angeles Times; cable company programming guides; the Zap2It web site; DVRs like TiVo, ReplayTV, …; and internal entertainment industry use. Gemstar provides listings for TV Guide magazine and some cable guides and so forth.)
So, I asked TiVo if they, as a major TMS customer, could use their influence to help improve the quality of listings for foreign language programming, and they just agreed. (Yay, TiVo! )
TiVo's head listings guy asked for examples of current inaccuracies (“the more examples the better”), which he will forward to TMS's International Schedules Department along with a bunch of stuff I wrote up on the special problems with foreign language TV listings and how to improve TMS's handling of them in the future.
So, post as much detailed info as you can here about current foreign language programming listing errors and do it as soon as possible. After a few days, I will prepare and send TiVo a summary of the information gathered for them to pass along to TMS. Hopefully, that will bring much better results than the individual consumer reports people have been submitting until now.
Note that I'm soliciting information about listing errors and issues for all foreign language programming aired anywhere in the U.S., not just C/J/K dramas in California. That's why I've created this new, possibly temporary thread instead of cluttering up Sandy's schedule thread.
Also note that TMS maintains listings down to the minute (unlike TV Guide, which only lists them to the nearest five-minute boundary). So, if a program officially runs from 07:38 to 08:03, you can report that.

KSCI W,Th I Want to Get Married is a drama series (now listed as Match Made in Heaven, which ended); same uncertainty about time slot
KSCI F Sunday, Sunday Night is a variety show (now listed as Korean Miniseries Drama); same uncertainty about time slot
KSCI M–F 22:50–23:30 uncertainty about time slot
it should start at 21:50 for both, definitely not 22:00
引用 (quote): KXLA M–F 20:25–21:00 is a Korean drama series subtitled in English (now part of a big, generic Korean Talk and Entertainment block)
should be One Million Roses
引用 (quote): KXLA M–F 20:00–20:25 ??? I have no idea what airs here (now part of a big, generic Korean Talk and Entertainment block)
should be KTE news
引用 (quote): KXLA W,Th 21:35–22:20 The Kiss of April is a Korean drama subtitled in English (now part of a big, generic Korean Talk and Entertainment block); Sandy lists 21:30–22:20
21:35 is about right since I'm making allowances in case sometimes it does start a bit earlier than 21:35, however, this drama is NOT subtitled
引用 (quote):
KXLA Sa,Su 21:00–21:10 ??? I have no idea what airs here (now part of a big, generic Korean Talk and Entertainment block)
should be GAG Concert

note that these 2 have english subs

TMS's “Entertainment” genre is for programs about the entertainment industry (Ebert & Roeper, E! True Hollywood Story, …). Would you call this a variety show instead?

Re: Please Post Corrections to Any Foreign Language TV Listings Here, ASAP
Regarding the UTB Dramas on Sunday nights at 9:00 P.M, Time Warner seems to lag when it comes to the titles. IE - For the majority of the time of Koibumi, Younger Man was listed, and now for this new drama, Koibumi is listed. They have to fix that, so submit that in too, Ccwf.

Re: Please Post Corrections to Any Foreign Language TV Listings Here, ASAP
Note: I plan on sending in these corrections Sunday or Monday, so try to get in any other corrections by Sunday.
[Yes, I know I (or someone) has a lot of work to do to update the corrections for the recent changes.]
