Re: K-Drama Club II: Starting 2/1/12 - Thousand Days' Promise
That was so great! She deserved it. I had hoped that JY would punch the brother but they stopped it. I think it's funny that the nutty mother is so concerned about "appearances" but she makes a scene at their country club? We didn't see anyone else since they were in a private room but everyone in the building must have heard her.

Re: K-Drama Club II: Starting 2/1/12 - Thousand Days' Promise
So difficult to see her mother, I agree that her mother now not being able to forget her will be the best revenge (not that SY was necessarily after revenge). Poor thing, having to face meeting Dad on the same day. I love that JH Mom is really digging her heels in until everyone becomes somewhat reasonable.
This is MK's brother, it's pretty amazing how much they look alike:

You don't think it was for revenge? I do. Not that her mother didn't deserve it but wouldn't it have been better just to leave that be?
I agree that that MK looks like his real-life brother.
We are down to the wire now. I hope that the baby makes it and we get to see a little glimpse into the future to see the JH and the baby make it after she dies.

"I'm sorry that I am leaving you" . . . oh, break my heart. I'm really worried about the baby.

Re: K-Drama Club II: Starting 2/1/12 - Thousand Days' Promise
Last night's episode was very good. I cannot believe that JM and Aunt left her alone. We all knew that was trouble the minute they shut the door behind them. That was the most believable crack on the head I think I've ever seen. It was a relief to see Ji Hyung finally break down. He's been such a rock through it all.
Funny that HG didn't even get rest up before Mom planned a date for her and even better that he was in love with someone else At least the combative crazy mom has some other woman to scream at.
The labor scene was also heartbreaking. Poor JH - so scared for her.

Re: K-Drama Club II: Starting 2/1/12 - Thousand Days' Promise
The last two episodes were very heartbreaking but I thought it was great that they had the character go through all the phases of the disease. The drama felt very "real" maybe more than I like to watch. . It's strange, but feel a little cheated that we didn't get to see the funeral. Maybe I feel that way because I wanted to see people say their goodbyes to her. I would have liked to flash forward and see he was remarried and getting along with his life but we didn't. It left me feeling down because I wondered if he would be happy again.

Re: K-Drama Club II: Starting 2/1/12 - Thousand Days' Promise
May I barge in at the end like this! Sounded like a very sad drama, and I am glad I did not watch this, since life has enough crisis and challenges to solve. However, I am curious why did she die, because of the disease? and I thought it is very unusual, or I should say I never heard that the disease inflicting such a young person or was it just dramatization? The people I know who had, or still have it went on living a long time after the disease was diagnosed.
Cap, you said "the drama felt very real" in what sense? the progression of the disease or due to the acting?
THANKS!

Re: K-Drama Club II: Starting 2/1/12 - Thousand Days' Promise
MKana.
this was the finest drama I have seen in a long time. The writing was so true and very deep. Every word had more meaning than a lot of unneccessary dramatic proclamations. the direction was so interesting all the way through and the cast was perfect. those actors really got into their characters.
I think you would like this because altho it is a sad story it is not really depressing. It is so true and keeps right on track from beginning to end.It is really a great love story which can be believed since this does happen in real life.
Alzheimer's does affect young people altho it is more seen in the elderly
Yes it does kill because it affects the whole body as the brain is being eroded. Patients don't just get dementia and forget things. They also lose their capacity to use their muscles and cannot swallow and later cannot speak. they do not know who they are or where they are and do not know their closest loved ones.
I was glad to learn that this drama got important awards as did the writer and director I think and also the cast. Kim Rae Won was so good in his role. I disliked his character so much at the start but he turned out to be the strong anchor for his wife and he kept three familes involved in the end.
Su Ae played the role of her life with grace and passion.

Re: K-Drama Club II: Starting 2/1/12 - Thousand Days' Promise
Thanks Peggy,
Looks like I missed a great drama, I will definitely find time later, much later, to watch it. One thing though, at least she died surrounded by the love of her life, to me that in itself is a happy ending, I know, I'm a little strange. Sometimes, it's best to have just a moment of true love than a life time of misery of not knowing!
